Erik Spoelstra has blown plenty of playoff series. The fans were calling for his head when the heat lost to the mavs. Why aren’t you applying the same logic to him as you do to doc?

Rick Carlisle is a younger Doug Collins. Task master who hasn’t won anything.

He has a title vs the Heat sooooooooo and has been able to adapt to different players and styles seamlessly.

And not sure where you are getting he has blown leads because I just went thru his record and nothing shows that. Erik is a defensive wizard and deserves the praise.

Rivers has one ring and another where he lost in the Finals in 21 seasons. He is a good coach but not top 3

Noah Levick: Desmond Bane says the Sixers are one of the 26 teams he’s spoken with and that they have "a lot of interest.” He says Elton Brand wasn’t on his interview and that it was led by VP of scouting Vince Rozman.

glen rivers it is....there's only 1 doc in Sixers' lore.

Let's see how Zumoff handles it.  He's never called him Doc because of this.

It probably had a lot to do with him being the coach of a rival. Now that hes the Philly coach I bet Zumoff will give him the respect.

I don’t know my elbow from a hole in the ground when it comes to basketball, but if I was interviewing head coach candidates the first question I’m asking is what their plan is to toughen up both Embiid and Simmons.  Both of those guys would be so much better if they were harder on themselves and pushed themselves and each other to be great

Nurse is better than Doc IMO. I think Vogel is really good too but he doesn't have the hardware yet.

Rick Carlisle is also a really good coach. Has an nba title too by beating Miami with lebron, wade and bosh.

Yeah don’t know how you say Rick Carlisle isn’t a good coach. Guy beat Miami with 3 all stars (likely 2 HOFers and potentially a third). Didn’t exactly have a all star lineup. He had dirk and a bunch of good players but not like Miami has. Heck if Dallas can figure out and get another star with Luka and porzingis he’s likely to compete for a title real soon.

and sproelstra doesn’t get the credit he deserves cause of the big 3. But he has always  done a great job of developing talent and his teams always play hard and good defensively.

I’m cautiously optimistic with the Rivers hire. Still need some roster changes, but maybe he can make it work with MOST of the core in place. Can he get through to Embiid and Simmons like BB clearly could/would not? I’ll be interested to see if he tries to play Ben primarily at forward or PG... I’d have to believe that he understands the need for a true PG and makes that a requirement for Brand/FO to get done this offseason.

I don’t do the trade machine, no idea how it would work but... I still want Jrue at PG.

Read the other day that the Clippers called about Jrue before going to PG. It just shows you how he is viewed by people in the league vs the casual fan.

They have a ton of cap space and could use a center but I just don't see why they would trade Jrue to us unless they think Ball is good enough to replace him (which he isn't).  Horford doesn't make them a contender if you subtract Jrue.  Could be a possible to unload Horford there for nothing much in return though.  They have a lot of money coming off the books this year.  If they get Ingram resigned then you'd be looking at Jrue, JJ, Ingram, Zion, Horford.   That would at least keep them in the playoff hunt in the West.

Does it mean anything that many coaches that were just released are second looks by other teams but not Bret Brown

It means what a lot of us having been saying for a few years now... he’s not a good head coach.

I remember reading an article from I think last year where a bunch of nba players were polled, and Jrue was rated as the most underrated player in the league.

okay, now i'm ready for some trades.

sixers could be a potential trade partner for the kings since they might want to move buddy hield. i've seen writers make up trade scenario's like horford & richardson for hield & jabari parker...with the sixers adding a pick.  also saw a kings' writer suggest tobi for hield & parker.  personally, i'd rather see horford gone but i could live with either trade...or add another team to take parker.

let's get ben to minnesota with his buddies d'lo & kat.

I think the sad reality is that we are not winning a championship with Embiid alone (or even Simmons alone). In today's NBA a top tier superstar center (even with pieces around him) will not give you a championship. It may not even get you to the finals. It will improve our record maybe even make us a top 3 seed, but won't mean jack in the playoffs (looking at Milwaukee). This is not a knock on Embiid just how the game is today. Similarly,  a supremely talented player like Simmons (who does not/will not/cannot shoot) is not going to get us there. Once again we would be another Milwaukee even with the right pieces. I look to GS, Lakers the Nuggets and maybe Brooklyn for what is needed to be a championship caliber team.  And so far none of the trades involving Embiid and or Simmons get us to the finals IMHO.

I say all this to say it's either Embiid and Simmons or we start over

In one of the comments there was mention of a trade for Spencer Dinwiddle. I wonder what it would take to get him now that Kyrie is coming back.

i think dinwiddie will be moved but i've read that the nets are hunting for a 3rd star....so they could package dinwiddie, allen, etc for somebody like beal, jrue, etc.  we'll see.  spencer is a ball dominant guard so he really wouldn't fit w/ kyrie...but we could use him in philly.

he'd be a good sixth man here.  He's too poor of a 3 point shooter to be on the floor with Ben though.

Remember the reports where this team had 15 hypothetical private planes ready to go home when they lost of Boston. I'm not sure you can fix that and guessing one has to go.

I’m pretty happy with this coaching hire.  If we’re going to watch Embiid/Simmons coexist for another season, I think Doc is the guy who will maximize both of them on the court at the same time.
