Josh Harris' boat payments aren't going to make themselves, brah!

Yeah. agreed on the rookie conracts. Thats why Brand shouldnt sell all of our 2nd round picks. Use them, or use them to trade up if you dont want as many players. Stop just giving them away. We have 4 more second rounders this year.

As far as Thybulle, he was a senior. Theres no real hope of developing offense. He might become a more consistent shooter. But theres 3 and D players a plenty in every single draft, and on the free agent market every single year. Hes a dime a dozen.

So maybe he has all defense potential and some replacement player for him is just a really strong defender. That downgrade is still a small price to pay to get Beal.

You don't need him to develop offense. Hit open threes or corner 3s, but don't act like his defense comes every year in the draft. He hit 35.7% from 3 on 2.5 attempts.

3 and D guys are not on the open market every year.

Just saying, he doesnt have a lot of upside. Hes already a really good defender. You can still hope for some improvement there. But hes like 24 already. Pretty much, what you get is what youre gonna get.

And dont act like Im acting like his defense comes every year. I already acknowledged a downgrade. But the fact remains that there are good 3 and D players every year. A bunch of them. Its not like when you lose Thybulle you wont be able to replace him with a good defender. You can. Easily.

What you cant easily get is a player like Beal. The upgrade on offense there is yuge. In comparison to the downgrade of losing Thybull'es defense the downgrade is much less significant. And youre not doing it for no reason. Keep sight of the fact that its to get Beal!

2 years in a row fans are getting too high on easily replaceable rookies. Last year it was Shamet that fans didnt want to consider trading in any deal. Now its Thybulle. Its not really rational.

And they replaced that wing shooting with what this year? Sixers are running out of assets to trade.

I'm for the trade, but this team is getting thin thin and vets on minimal deals wouldn't come to Philly not when fighting the Heat, Lakers, Celtics, Clippers, Warriors.

they didnt replace it. they spent the money on Horford and Richardson. Just because they didnt, doesnt mean they couldnt have. There were plenty of options. Our FO just made bad decisions.

Cant believe we are going to pretend like 3 and D is hard to find in today's NBA. We also dont need to act like our FO's missed opportunities were a result of lack of opportunities.

Want guys on rookie deals?

Well first of all the lack is because the team believed it was in a position to contend for a championship and they believed they needed more experienced and ready to contribute players rather than rookies. But that can be changed in an instant. Last year, if we were in a building phase, we could have used more or all of our picks. We have 5 draft picks this year. Thats not an issue at all. If the team actually wants to go that direction we can load up on those cheap deals.

We have another MLE this year that we can either use as a whole, or break up in to a few smaller deals. We dont need to blow that whole thing on another Mike Scott. While those other destinations are attractive, there will be players who want to play for Doc Rivers.

Lastly, if we do shift more to a building phase you can trade our players on deals where you get 2-3 players back for 1.

There is absolutely no need to fret over a lack of cheaper deals at this moment. It was that way by design. Not lack of resources to bring them in. And it can be changed via a variety of avenues in the blink of an eye. As such, this is not a valid reason to want to hold on to Thybulle if an opportunity like Beal presents.

No one lines up to play for any coach. It is a players league or Pop would have superstars.

Scott was such a good 3 and D he was unplayable in the playoffs vs two wings he should have matched up with. PJ Tucker and Covington don't grow on trees like you think they do.

Thats only true/untrue to an extent. Brett Brown was a huge selling point for Redick to come here. The legend of Broekhoff signed here because of Brown too.

Doc is very respected. Its not exactly going out on a limb to presume hes even far more respected than Brown.

I know location is a bigger deal. But players do weigh in coaching and culture. We arent talking super stars. We are talking older vets who dont necessarily care for the party life, or cheaper vets who may be looking for playing time to leverage a bigger deal.

Scott sucked and didnt just fall out of the lineup for playoffs. He pretty much fell out of rotation for the entire year. After hogging our entire MLE. That was a horrible use of the MLE to begin with, and made even worse when they stopped playing him at all.

Look at that, Jimmy Butler another 30+ point triple double to keep the series alive. If only we had a player like him...

Or Tatum or Covington or Mikel Bridges or Saric or Richaun Holmes or Jemari Grant or Shamat

The list of picks and players is beyond long and still stuck with Embiid and Ben who can't play together

I wonder if we will hire an assistant coach or if Doc is going completely anti-collaboration.

NBA executives reportedly view Heat as league's top destination for next star wanting to change teams.

That points to a certain Bucks FA in 2021 and now main competition will be Heat, Nets and Celtics with Raptors, Pacers fighting with Sixers

ben is in peak offseason form.  playing call of duty when he's not posing for shirtless pics either in the weightroom or standing in front of expensive cars.

I believe he is wearing a 1000 dollar t-shirt. According to comments. So cool.

Im ready for some draft and free agency. Who even knows when this stuff is? Seems like it has to be really soon if we are going to be playing end of december. Thats only 2 months away!

Found my answer. Happens to be a little blurb on realgm about it today

Teams are not currently allowed to sign players to an extension, waive players under contract and conduct trades with another team, but that transaction moratorium will likely get lifted once there is an agreement on an amended collective bargaining agreement. This will likely occur before the draft on November 18th.

The first verbally agreed upon trade during the 2019 window was between the New Orleans Pelicans and Los Angeles Lakers in the Anthony Davis deal on June 15th.

Free agency is expected to begin on or around December 1st.

So he is practicing his shooting!

There was a really good hockey player that used to play for the flyers but was traded in like 2004. I think he went on to win 2 or 3 stanley cups. If we trade Ben now, do you see a similar future for him?

There was that rumor about Doc trading for Ball with the #1 pick. Apparently the wolves are interested in moving the pick for a win now player.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have interest in trading down from the No. 1 overall pick or out of the drat altogether for a win-now player, executives around the NBA tell Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

Towns can't become a free agent until 2024, but the Wolves have an accelerated timeline of contention.  Russell is signed through 22-23. The Wolves last reached the playoffs in 2018.

Gersson Rosas took over the Minnesota front office in 2019.

The Golden State Warriors also are believed to have interest in trading down from No. 2 for a win-now player.
