I guess you only do the deal if you have a prospect you really believe in

The #GoldenStateWarriors are looking to land #BenSimmons in a deal including #AlHorford, #AndrewWiggins and their 2nd overall draft pick, per #NBCsports' Tom Haberstroh.

Yuck.  1st of all Wiggins contract is worse than Al's.  2nd we'd have to take back more than just Wiggins (Draymond maybe).  3rd it's not a good top of the draft.  If there were surefire prospects maybe.  Only way I'd consider it is to flip that second pick and Wiggins to the Wiz for Beal.

It's not the most ideal trade we can imagine.

But trading bad contract for bad contract,  Wiggins here makes a ton more sense than Horford. That's actually the best part of the deal. Taking that bad contract and turning it in to a useful player that fits the roster.

The 2nd pick is junk. You're in no man's land with no one to pick there.  You have to hope Wiseman is on the board and someone really wants him.

And,  yeah don't want Draymond.

Basically you're swapping Horford for Wiggins (a 30% 3 point shooter who doesn't play defense) and trading Ben for a top pick in a questionable draft and probably taking back another bad contract in Draymond.  I have faith Morey would laugh them off the phone unless there's a 3rd team involved that would add actual better assets for the Sixers.

It's nice to have faith in the Sixers FO again.

yeah. I really havent liked the Warriors rumor for a single day since its been around. Their team is gutted. They have nothing for us.

In terms of straight contract swaps, Im ok with Horford for Wiggins. Even then, there are other options Id prefer to explore. But Im ok with it.

Theyve never had anything to offer for Ben or Embiid trades though.

That's all there is to it.  I'd swap Wiggins for Horford just for fit purposes (and said a while back that he might be a good swap option as it gives GS a legit veteran big presence since they are win now), but they don't have anything that interests me for Ben or Embiid that they'd be willing to part with (ie...Klay or Steph).  The 2nd pick this year just doesn't move me.

Also I don't think either one is going anywhere this year.  Doc and Morey will want to see what they can do with them first before they move one.  BB was a great guy and maybe the right coach to start the process with but he is not a good coach and never held those two accountable nor designed an offense to fit them.  Jimmy saw that and Jimmy left.

hell yeah!

The Philadelphia 76ers have parted ways with Vice President of Basketball Operations Alex Rucker, sources told Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Rucker was reassigned from his role after the team hired Peter Dinwiddie from the Pacers.

Rucker was "heavily involved" in the team's decision-making, according to sources.

Elton Brand recently signed a multiyear extension as general manager, with Daryl Morey set to be introduced as President of Basketball Operations on Monday.

from re-assigned, to fired. finally doing what needs to be done. I think Morey is probably to thank for this one.

I think Jimmy didn't want to play with Ben more than anything

What you look for in a 2nd rounder. Elite at one thing and don't worry about the deficiencies.

He's been on my radar for a while.  Not sure he makes it to our 2nd round picks.  He's a good athlete, can create and score on all levels, but not much of a defender (albeit against lesser competition).  I could see a team in the back of the 1st round getting him as a potential bench scorer.  I like him for the Sixers but 21 is too high for a 23-24 year old who played in a lesser league.  if he's there for one of the early seconds I'd absolutely grab him.  He's just what the Sixers need off the bench if his play can translate against NBA athletes.

BTW Tyrell Terry's stock is all over the place.  I've seen him in the lottery to out of the 1st round in a few.  Riller is anywhere from end of 1st to mid/late 2nd.  Hard to gauge a lot of the younger players since it was a short season.

Imagine him and baby durant coming off our bench combining for 50 a night.

I wonder if Doc will use shayock.

Only if the Sixers change their mascot to a sloth.

Two things I would do if I was GM. This draft is loaded with shooters and ball handlers. I would trade Josh and either a pick or player to move up into the early teens. I would draft 3 really good players out of the picks we have. If we do intend to trade Ben, I would call up milwaukee for giannis.

One thing you can never question again is their commitment to winning, WOW

Daryl Morey is believed to have signed the NBA’s most lucrative contract for a lead basketball decision maker since Phil Jackson’s five-year, $60 million contract with the New York Knicks.

Morey and the Philadelphia 76ers agreed you a five-year deal last week estimated to be worth more than $10 million per season, according to industry insiders.

Some insiders even insist the deal is worth more than Jackson’s, which paid $12 million annually.

Players association is expected to approve the 12/22 start date.

And, a dream is closer to coming true

The New Orleans Pelicans are "openly discussing" a trade of Jrue Holiday with "several contending teams pursuing," sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic.
