I am willing to give him a chance but, there is film on him breaking perfectly clean pockets . It was not just NFL either. I'm just saying if he gets a healthy oline he has to learn to throw from the pocket. That wasn't a strength of his coming into the league. Even Wentz had issues with it when he had a good line, so there should be concern there with hurts who is even less polished.

Wentz was compounding the issues taking sacks and turning the ball over and holding the ball too Long and just flat out losing games single handedly.  So it’s really hard to gauge what we got from hurts.  The guy was surely seeing ghosts out there after watching Wentz get humiliated week in and week out. 
 

all i know is all my nfl fan friends who have no interest in the eagles think hurts has potential and earned the starting position going into 2021.  And the other thing I know is that this FO thinks he earned the spot.

Unfortunately I have doubts about Hurts but, I do like his intangibles like you said. 

I think I'm just used to the sheet show we have gone through the last few years. I loved Doug but, the last year or so I had a hard time believing him and his staff knew what the hell they were doing when it came to development. 

Hopefully Nick is good with development and like Reid loved to say put guys in better situations to succeed lol. 

I'm just tired of having to argue or see crap every single year about our QBs for so long. Would just love an unquestionable great QB that no one can say the damn back up is better lol. It's exhausting. 

I'm looking forward to Hurts, even if it seems like I'm not.

Yeah I don’t get caught up in here debating our QB situation either.  It’s pretty clear where we’re at and that is we know nothing.  New coaching and new QB with a some young  highly drafted skilled position players  and a recovering offensive line.  
 
And a defense that is literally anyone’s guess at this point. But likely 3rd beat in the division alone. I can’t imaging hurts imagining any short fields to work with with the defense we have against the schedule we have.  It’s gunna be tough sledding in that regard 

Doug got himself in a bad position in that he won a super bowl with a back up an then couldn’t build on that with the franchise Qb   His fault?   I’m not so sure.
 

 Wentz simply didn’t do his part and really the whole mess ( Doug getting canned and him getting traded for what could be peanuts) is on him IMO.  But whatever    If Wentz bounces back with Indy I’ll be happy for him I guess.  (Especially if we get a 1st round pick next year from him)

If I’m honest I’m most excited to see what our running games gunna look like  it could be fun  

 But I’m all I’m on the hurts wagon until I’m not.  Lol

I tried to picture in my head how it all Crumbled and in my head (  not anything I’ve read or heard) my head tells me that when foles won the super bowl the way he won it, the bar simply got raised too high for Wentz and he wasn’t up for the task.  And when things got tougher with a injuries to his oline and wr’s , he mentally threw in the towel and (as well as he disguised it) wanted out of philly which he got. And Doug didn’t play his cards right (I don’t blame him I would have done things very similar to how he did it I think) and got caught up in it all  

with all that said, you would think Wentz would be universally dissed by Philly and eagles fans in general.   I mean seriously we have a ton of members here I think would like to see Wentz succeed over hurts.   Now that sheete has me baffled

We need to have an nfce QB week to week STAT tracker thread.   Keep everything Into perspective as it relates to our qb in the upcoming season.    I think stats of nfce qbs and nfce qb ratings will tell a big part of the tale of how the nfce is won.   Aside from Washington’s defense (that might be good enough to win the division by itself). 

and let’s face it, if hurts balls out and earns the starting job for 2022 we are suddenly looking pretty nice with potentially 3 1st round pics in 2022 and little need on the offensive side  

I wouldn’t be shocked at all if hurts outperforms Prescott this season yet I would be surprised if Prescott way outperforms hurts. We got speed and youth at wr and Rb and goedirt(I wanna see goedirt and hurts become bff’s). and we got a completely unknown offensive style and no tendencies for our opponents to gameplan   We got um right where we want them

He has played 19 of 32 games the last two years.  2018 he played with a grade 2 MCL sprain and a high ankle sprain most of the year.

He has not been healthy since the Super Bowl season.

As I pointed out, even when he played 15 games in 2018, he was injured and did not play well.

I would be willing to bet right now one of our starting offensive lineman does not make it to week 1.

Actually, I covered it earlier. The days when players were allowed to play with concussions are long gone. I'm not holding those against players. If it helps you make your case that a guy can't stay healthy, whatever ...

I'm not even going to get into whether or not he played well. He played through some injuries like a vast majority of NFL players do each year. As I stated a couple times now, the only injury of concern he has had was the ankle injury which effected two seasons because it was not treated properly after it happened. I for one am glad he had the proper surgery and is now 100% and back starting. I can't wait to see how much better the O-line will be this year and am hoping it goes a long way toward helping Hurts grow as a starting QB and keep getting better. 

 

I won't stop you from betting the farm on some pessimistic prognosis of yours. We all know about the injuries the last few seasons. So ... hey --- it's a safe bet, right? Bet the farm. I think you should.

In the over 30 club Brooks and Johnson should be well rested since they haven't played much over the last 2 seasons.

Brooks started all 16 games in 2019. He made the Pro Bowl and was 1st team All Pro at RG. Johnson started 12 games in 2019 and 7 last year.  If you want to say they missed a lot last year, I would agree. But throwing in 2019 doesn't help your quip.

I forgot Brooks was injured in a playoff game. I agree with op that the o-line can be top 10 as long as there is some continuity. And regardless of my incorrect timeline, Brooks and Johnson will be well rested.
