We'll talk in a year.  I don't think you are getting what I'm saying.   One year stop gaps, players on contract years...etc.

LOL welp we had 2 drafts and if we did/do ANYTHING with those,it wont be the HUGE problem you think, so Smith and Dickerson, Reagor are all "stop gaps"? I will differ with you. Mailata/Dillard should do ok at T,we now have at least what seems to be a decent BU(at least) for Lane,we added youth on defense,so IDK why you think we will crash and burn and although I have no dream of post season this year,I think we will solidify alot of spots and there is no BS as to whom our QB will be this year. I am not delusional enough to think we hit post season, but on the contrary, I don't this we are the basketcase you surmise we are

Mailata, Goedert, McCloud, Harris, the LB they signed... are they under contract next year?   Plus the older guys, well...getting older.

I'm not in favor of using a 1st for a QB next year because I want to fill these holes.   The view past 2021 is what I'm looking at.

I definitely see where you are both coming from.  I think there is a decent chance we surprise people this year (like GBNC said nothing crazy like playoffs but better than what most pundits are thinking).  And what you are saying about filling holes that may open after 2021.  Hoping this year is more of an audition season for Harris ... if he plays well we are able to extend him.  Then hoping a few of our draft picks pan out to fill others and next year making good use of those high picks to fill even more.  Plus should have more money to play with in FA to add some pieces.

And if Harris plays well, could be lost in free agency too.   Same with Mailata and Goedert.

Sure I get all that. One of the reasons I wanted Pitts(as you know lol).We always sign a few guys on 1 years,so that really doesn't change much for me. It's always a liquid process. My view is also past 2021. Just want to see some solid, COHERENT play and play calls. If we play our best and lose, you won't hear from me. Many better teams out there, but I don't want to see the "play 30" like usual. If guys are busting,I have no issues. The staff/coach change hopefully changes that ".500" mentality. Going .500 year 1 with all the new people would be awesome. I'm not expecting that, but let's get close. That tells me we're on track. You know it takes a boatload of "fine tuning" to win a SB. We had that in '17 and a little luck too.Without having to pay a QB, we will be fine,so taking a QB in 2 or late 1 is still in the cards for me. You can get some nice players in FA with the 35 million you aren't paying a QB,so keep that going for another year. By then with Hurts,a new drafted QB and Newman, we will know what we have. Of course that depends on Hurts,if he's really sub par,I feel we need to make the move for the next franchise guy. Your scenario certainly works for me if Hurts shows us he is not only solid, but has corrected some mistakes and still has higher potential. And we can all hate Dak, but that's what Hurts could be for us, but we'd only have it for 2 more years before we'd have to "pay the man",so a constant influx of rook QB's is NP for me because that leaves you options. Someone asked me once "what is the worst thing that can happen to you"(you know barring death or serious illness). Had to think awhile and my answer was "when you run out of options". Why? because now you are not in control of your destiny, someone else is,so for me the more options available, the better you can be. At that point then you'd need to trust your decision makers, which could be the only issue we have (Howie and Lurie). I am fine with either scenario, getting a round 1 QB or not.I am for whatever gives us the most options going forward. In 2020 the only options we had were all BAD ones, still decisions were made and I am looking forward to having GOOD options and good decisions made

if we're not paying a QB this year(which we won't be) great time to re-sign both if we feel they are the future. We will have the money to do it

If we have 3 first round picks next year... I don't want to use any on QB.  Whatever happens after that, go ahead get your QB.   The team's long term situation is not good... age and not having players under contract is an issue.  Gotta stabilize that.

I think we’d all hope that the last two years of draft picks is the begginning of the rebuild youth movement. Hopefully won’t invest in old washed up vets anymore. Gotta get these young guys on the field to make any of this happen now though. Have a core that’s worth building around going forward.

I’m pretty much assuming that trading for Watson next season is the plan. Going to cost more than one first round pick.

If that's the plan i hope Hurts plays great

Maybe because of Howies EGO, but I would rather draft the top rook. Just my preference

Not right now it isn’t and if he doesn’t play can’t see that price going up.

How do we know what these holes are lol Mailata Geodart play great we resign them... Got extremely young OL waiting in the wings already behind those old guys. Couple cbs step up, Sweat/Barnett one step up gets new deal maybe both. 1-2 young LB steps up.

Point being we have way to many unknowns tons  of young talented players and what some projected 60-70mil in cap space next year maybe more to spend.

I get the not wanting to give up two or all our first rounder for a QB but we have a top 5 pick Hurts was meh and we can take a guy that we strongly like without moving why wouldn’t we???

1.  Correct,lots of unknowns

2.  Players can have great years and YOU may want to resign them... doesn't mean the players will want to resign before hitting the open marker.

3. $ 20 mil of cap space, not sure where you see $60 or $70 mil?

4.  The big thing we all seem to take for granted... Cox and Graham.  Their dominant play has been the backbone of the defense.  At some point you can't build around that anymore, you have to rebuild that part too.   But yeah... if the young WRs and OL develop, if the TE resigns, if a couple CBs step up, If some LBS step up, If some safeties step up, and if a couple of DL step up... and if they all choose to stay here,  yeah it's pretty good and you can go after a QB if ALL that happens.    I have my life plan incase I win the lottery, so I get your ideas.  We get more clarity after the season, see if the lottery comes our way.

I would think the plan is to hopefully try and pull off the big win before these old guys are completely washed up. Kind of looks like 2023.

I think Brooks, Lane, Cox, Slay, Kelce  and Graham could all be a part of championship roster in 2023. Beyond that is stretching it.

Actually seemed like Graham ran out of steam and went over the hump of his career this past season.

OH I think that comes next draft. We have the draft BIG GUNS to do it. Don't see any "big win" scenarios

Whatcha doin with Dickerson? Letting him sit 3 full years???(21,22 and your "championship" 23 year) If so, why did you waste a 2 pick on him? If you did that you have ONE year left on his rook contract and I really am not interested in a "well he can rotate at G"

Why wouldn’t Dickerson be good at G? I think he’d be great there.

If Hurts plays ok, then you gotta look at grabbing Cox's and Lane's replacements in the next draft, that would set you up for your "championship" year, although I hope Dickerson is at C by then

Because he was drafted as a C? I'm fine if you want him to do that THIS year. if you don't move him to C why did you draft him? How long you gonna wait while Kelce "considers retirement" like he does every year for the last 5? IMO this is Kelce's last year(as an Eagle anyhow). I can't wait until 2 weeks before the start of a season for Kelce to say "yeah I'm out". Of course Dickerson needs to show us he can stay on the field and I'm ok with him playing G some this year to keep the parts from rusting lol

I would also like to see Dickerson take C snaps in garbage time

If he's better than Seu or Brooks he needs to play.

Not just because he's a 2nd round pick though.

This year I just want him on the field in any capacity. We need to see him stick a whole season without injury. Ham could be right though and he ends up as a G. Still where we took him there were better G's available and if his natural position is as a C, he needs to play there
