So with all the roster spots now open, what do we do? Grab more vets, try to add youth with potential? I see we are signing peeps we had before.I can't say thats a bad move in light of A) This rookie class not being able to follow the routine into the NFL B)Prospects for finding college players NEXT draft is going to be like trying to nail jello to a tree.I think we look closer at some other UDFA's from THIS draft because they may be a better option than trying to figure out next years draft class with limited views(if the college games are cancelled) What I mean by that is the late draft(say rounds 6,7) guys next year may still be behind the UDFA's from THIS year.IDK,it's a mess for sure

With the Jason Peters and Vinny Curry signing, it seems like they are definitely valuing guys who can come right in and understand the playbook.  I feel for some of the UDFAs this year.  They have almost no shot to prove themselves.  I like Killins and Warren as complimentary RB prospects too.  I hope we can somehow hold on to those guys.

A "star" from a big 10 school will transfer to podunk U just so he can play and get draft attention

I think this actually helps the "stars."  The guys with 1st round draft grades were all opting out anyway before anything was cancelled.  Smart move on their part - they can only get hurt on the field or hurt their draft stock if they have a bad season.  I feel bad for the rest of the guys 3rd round or later.  Unless they blow the combine out of the water, they don't really have a chance to up their draft stock.

It works both ways. Some guys stock would go down with being exposed in some areas...or injuries. But some can climb up the boards with a stellar season.

I think the UDFAs have it a lot easier this year due to the expanded PS. Realistically very few rookies are ready to contribute right away, so this gives the team a chance to evaluate some more guys.

A bigger concern to me is that guys like Reagor and Davion Taylor, who could make an impact this year, won't have much of a chance to get up to speed. But I think this helps the Eagles a lot because the other teams in the division are going to be counting on their rookies to contribute a lot right away. Dallas has a lot riding on its rookie class, as it lost a lot of vets in free agency and are almost going to have to roll with rookies at key spots.

So you envision games where another RB gets more touches than Sanders? Is there a lead back in a committee? It kind of means you don’t have a top dog almost by definition.

Yes, I believe there is a lead back in a committee.  Nothing wrong with a lead RB getting around half or just over half the snaps/touches.   He is the starter, the 1st option.  But hte RB job is shared ... more so than just " well Zeke and Barkely are getting a breather right now"  where one RB dominates.   I don't see that with Sanders.  Would I expect him to have the most snaps and touches in every game... YES.  Could there be blowout games where other guys get more, YES.   Simply because we are a passing team, and could end up building a nice lead via the pass and so by the time we get down to running the ball, another RB might get the touches.  Or there could be one game where a Boston Scott gets more receptions in a type of game where we pass 80% of the time.   The odds are Sanders leads RBs in touches every game, but not by the dominant usage #s that other RBs do.  I'd say he gets 50-66% of snaps/touches of the overall RB #.  Clear lead RB of the group (if group makes you feel better than using committee)

This RB had 142 targets....IN THE PASSING GAME

And if you are suggesting that Christian McCaffrey can’t be a part of a Championship Roster....you’re just flat out wrong.

Correct.... he can absolutely be " part" of a championship roster ... however, my suggestion has been consistent... RBs that get that kind of usage don't win over the last decade... other than a guy in Seattle who also played with a top QB and elite defense.  Great for fantasy, not for Superbowls.

No Mas you’re caught up in a Championship can only be won the way it’s been won in the past. You’re stuck on duplication as the only means of glory. I don’t think that way at all. I think innovation is the best way to glory. But I also can see how a team can go with a retro formula to success. Watched the Niners dominate by being bigger and more physical and run the ball to dominate the league. Watched Henry carry the Titans one step from the title game. Seahawks looked like one of the top teams when they had Carson dominating. But then the opposite of KC and all their speed and finesse. The Pats with their accuracy, timing and cheating utilized their short passing getting it done.

Ham, Again... very true more than one way to win.   Also FACTS... the #1 RB taking you to a title isn't what has worked in modern times.  Stop obsessing about Sanders being elite, his ranking ...etc.  Bottom line, he is good enough to be a starter for a winning team.  A part of the winning team.    But we are not going to be carried to a title by him.   The team running success the team offensive success is what will matter.  In today's game passing and the QB are a bigger part of it.  SF great example of the team you have been touting for a while now.   The team runs the ball well behind that OL and great blocking TE.  Great approach. No need for the top level RB there.  Lets see how Henry can last .... and if he can actually win a SB while having to provide all that usage.  the last 2 steps from winning a SB are by far the hardest part, ask your boy Andy who took 2 decades to do it.

This is part of why I feel good about the Eagles approach to building a team as compared to the others in the division.  Right off the bat putting so much on Zeke and Barkley and having to pay them elite $$$.   WE have Sanders in there now, he can take on a good portion of what the other 2 do, and we can fill in the rest... but much cheaper.   Our key will be our OL play and finding good enough weapons at WR.  I think we are good at RB and QB with these young guys as long as they stay healthy.

@Trini GL Brother! I'll check out your www when I hear word. Sounds like a GREAT mission you are on.

Slay is probably the happiest guy in camp right now.  Coming from a loser franchise and that fat slug HC, Matt Patricia, who treats his players like children, I'm pumped to see him as our shut down corner for the next few years.  Here are some quotes below from Slay about what Matt Patricia said to him in a team meeting:

"Slay also proceeded to rip Patricia for a 2018 incident in which he felt disrespected by the former New England Patriots defensive coordinator.

"He told me in front of the whole team, in the team meeting room, showed clips of me in practice getting a ball caught on me or so in practice," Slay told the Detroit Free Press. "I posted a picture (of a wide receiver on Instagram), and he told me, stop sucking this man’s private. So I’m like, 'Whoa.' I’m like, 'Hold up.' Where I’m from, that don’t fly. Cause I wouldn’t say that to him. I wouldn’t say to him to stop you know what to Bill Belichick. I wouldn’t do that. That’s just not me as a man. That’s disrespectful to me and so from there on it was done with."

Another incident that irked Slay was Patricia telling the three-time Pro Bowler he had no business hanging around "elite" cornerbacks like Richard Sherman and Aqib Talib, because he was only "good.""

Yep, read this before. Totally unacceptable.

Ugh! So covid prevented JJ from Dak contract????????????????????? We have family in TX. They believe in Trump, sending their kid back to public school and JJ. Cowboys are planning on having fans in the stadium. They also are trying to setup a player initiated ‘bubble’ at the adjoining Omni hotel.

All we had to do ( and still can ) back in Feb/March was to take this as seriously as I did, treat it with the respect it deserves, and we wouldn't be talking/experiencing this. Elect a clown, expect a circus. BTW - I can say that as I actually met and spoke w. him. Afterwards I was in a bathroom taking a leak and a senator from PA and I agreed that he's a spoiled putz - that was 43 yrs ago! This isn't political, just a real life experience so no flames.

Did watch Inside Training Camp Live. Guys wearing masks but they're falling off half the time. I really don't see this happening. What really aggravates me is this all could have been avoided if  - yes I'll say it - Donald J Trump would have cared and simply listened and worn a freakin mask!  For the sake of not just football, but for everyone - wear a freakin mask! If you don't, take a leaky boat ride, plain and simple. Hope you're all well.

No Mas, we are in need of young blue chip ...or elite talent. We need to rejuvenate an old team. I think Sanders fits that bill. Just can’t fix everything through free agency.

‘58 I wear a mask when I go in stores. Seems most people are also. But I’ve yet to see real quality evidence that masks stop the spread of this virus. I’m skeptical. I have been washing my hands twenty times a day more than I used to though.

Sure ...a few good young RBs... are great.   Don't think we need the elite Blue chip guy you desire.  The guys that come in humble and get to work, solid is fine.  2017 style.  Good health will help there too, something we missed in 2018 and 2019.   I'd like some young blue chips on the lines.  RB, 3 solid guys with one of them being a little above average and I think we are good. WR level needs to step up, 2017 was such an outlier where they all were in their prime and healthy.  Also all the elements of size, speed and YAC ability that complimented each other well.  I'm fine with Sanders being good... doesn't need to be so elite.  I'm not paying him $15 mil plus which is what the elite guys will be making when his time is due for a 2nd contract.

My big picture view.

2020 season isn't a lock.  Our linemen are getting old on both sides.   We have been blessed with elite linemen the last few years ... Peters for years, Kelce, Lane and Brooks recently... and Cox on D, with Graham being pretty good.   If we don't have the full season this year, where are we going forward on the lines?  Brooks coming off of injury, Kelce and Lane getting older ... Cox turns 30 in December..etc.   Where are we with the elite level linemen entering their primes?  Barnett and Isaac are at the ages... solid players, nothing elite yet.  Josh Sweat... IDK, being a capable 4th DE isn't the same as being a good starter.   This is my concern.  Sanders can be Walter Payton and I don't think it matters unless things happen on the lines.   WR picture needs to improve too... Reager needs to be very good, probably as soon as next year.

Big picture these are my concerns.  Do we waste Wentz's prime years as we rebuild, does the fact that the division is weak like early Andy era, give use a false sense of how good we are?  Big picture concerns for me.

I disagree,Top players can easily fall from grace if they go "unseen" and to be frank,if they opt out at the college level,I dont want them on my team anyway, the litte pu**ies

I don't see this.Which RB do we have thats gonna take 45% of the snaps from Sanders? My thoughts are Sanders is at 75-80%.he was rockin at the end of last year and is a viable weapon and IMO that guy';s on the field every play he wants to be on the field. We dont' have the Blount/Ajayi 1,2 punch unless Warren is a stellar find we didnt know about.Sanders is fired up to have a great season,I'm not quashing that by making him play less than he wants

I'm, with you.I don't want our team to rely on one guy like alot of teams do. And it takes time.lets not forget when Bell was traded,he suddenly became "non elite".Why is that????

Great post. It's going to be tough on all teams until we can get some order restored.I mentioned before we signed guys we know and who know us.We need to start grooming from within and relying less on FA's and "outsiders" I'm hoping some of these coaching changes and be a start to that.As I also said earlier,it may be wise to snag a few other UDFA's from this draft that are still out there.I'm not expecting any starters here, but for depth they may be farther ahead then the round 6,7 guys we see go next year

Quoting Dr Fauci, masks can prevent 80-90% of transmission. Good masks can only help so much, but add to that that if you do inhale someone's virus breath, you'll get a smaller dose, which may allow your immune system to overcome it and maybe build a very temporary immunity. For all those anti vaccers out there, a vaccine against other viruses may help the bodys' immune system to fight it off, something suspected to be happening in those who spread the disease w/o symptoms, who also may wind up suddenly dying. Yeah, you will kill others w/o feeling a thing - great for you! Biden will have a plan Jan 20th, almost exactly a yr late under the previous admin who just thought it would magically disappear. You know, that war time guy who never served cause of those bone spurs after playing all that squash at his private school. He doesn't believe Fauci but some woman who believes women can get impregnated by witches in their dreams! Once a putz.......... I know. I never promised but did sy I wouldn't dude it, I dude it
