Julio/Smith out, Reagor in the slot. That would pretty much guarantee Hurts had a good year

Yeah...they should have thought about that with Wentz,  instead of pushing the envelope of seeing how much crap he could play with.

Can't get any worse than 2019... Howie: " hold my beer"

Idk, but I don't see any good for Ertz to play here as a backup this year.  Not going to up any trade value that way, and getting comp pick value to me ... not worth having to avoid signing free agents to get it.   Is it worth $8 million or whatever for pick # 140 in 2023?

Rolling cap, you lose that cap space forever.  I don't see it.  Ertz is done here.

So if we needed the cap space, how would getting Julio help?

IdK we still have 6 mil in cash so Ertz, pick cash for Julio. IDK the intracacies

We would be saving paying a QB for at least 2 years-doesn't help THIS year, but you;d have a great team started with a QB you dont really have to pay for 2 more years,so If I can get to ZERO and get Julio,I would be happy due to the upcoming 2 years cap savings by not paying a QB

Absolutely.   Getting Julio for Ertz.  100%   Atlanta should fire their GM on the spot if they go that route.

If we could trade Boston Scott for Derrick Henry.  Imagine the backfield with Henry and Sanders....Gainwell as the 3rd RB.   Would be a perfect fit for us.

In the latest news around the NFL, the Tennessee Titans have fired their GM.

Not shocking when we only ever carried one blocking TE... Whether it was Celek paired with Ertz and Burton or Geodart paired with Ertz and Rodgers(some other guys who I don’t remember).

Would have been interesting to have seen what we could have done with Ertz/Celek/Geodart... Celek/Geodart would have paved some holes on the edges and Ertz was still a dangerous receiving threat.

Geodart and Stoll could possibly give us those two TEs that can block be huge for the ground game

That’s what I’m saying . It’s a different mentality

Jones- 15.5 mil   Ertz 8.5 mil   8.5 mil plus 6 mil in cash=14.5 mil. Toss in a pick for the other 1/2 mil. Our OTC figure would then be ZERO. AT least as I am seeing it.Ertz, cash and a pick for Julio 6 mil we gave them to find a decent WR in FA. Both books are cleared. Not saying they would DO this, but it IS possible

JJAW and Fulgham both have the size and ability to be plus blockers from the H Back position, which is pretty much the same role that the TE2 plays. Over the past two years we have used H backs who were decidedly average as either pass catchers or blockers (Ertz, Richard Rodgers, Josh Perkins) but JJAW in particular is probably the best combination of blocker and receiver we have had, if they decide to go that route.

If our base offense is Reagor, Fulgham, Smith and Goedert, then our heavy package could be Goedert, Fulgham, JJAW and Smith. (Smith would essentially be replacing Greg Ward as the "can get open and get us three yards when we need three yards" receiver.)

It would force teams to make a decision on whether to counter with a heavy package of their own, and risk getting a LB matched up against Fulgham or JJAW, or keeping five DBs in the game, which gives us an advantage if we run it.

I think teams treated Ertz like a WR. They didn’t run a DB off the field because of him. So we just didn’t counter. If we ran two TEs and ran it on them they’d have to adjust. Ertz and Rodgers learned the matador school of blocking.

Why would we have done that by now?   Nothing counts on the books until he has to get paid.  He can be cut right before the season starts.   The only advantage to do it now is if we use the space now for something.   But I just assumed they were going to roll Ertz cap savings into 2022.  They still have like 3 months to do that.

Clearly we are in deep negotiation with Goedert’s agent. So it really makes sense.

27. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Miles Sanders is a player whose PFF grading profile doesn’t necessarily match the public perception. As a rookie, he earned just a 59.1 rushing grade while running behind one of the best run-blocking offensive lines in football, but he did show promise in the passing game. That flipped this past season for Philadelphia when Sanders improved his rushing grade to 75.3. However, he struggled with drops, as his eight spills were tied for the most at the position.

He’ll look to clean those drops up and continue to progress as a runner in a backfield that doesn’t offer much real competition. Boston Scott, Kerryon Johnson and Jordan Howard will compete for work behind Sanders.                 PFF

Should give us first pick

30. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Eagles wide receivers have ranked last in receiving grade in each of the last two years, so there’s plenty of room to improve for this unit. They’ve now spent back-to-back first-round selections on receivers, putting the pressure on Jalen Reagor and DeVonta Smith. Reagor graded at 64.0 overall as a rookie in 2020, picking up 396 yards on 31 catches. It was a slow start, but he has the explosiveness to develop as an outside vertical threat. Smith is a better all-around receiver, and that was on display in one of the best seasons in college football history. He can separate to all levels of the field and is dangerous with the ball in his hands, so look for Smith to develop as the high-volume threat in this offense.

One of the bright sides of last season’s struggles was the emergence of Travis Fulgham, who had bounced around with several teams before posting an impressive 71.2 overall grade and leading the Eagles with 539 receiving yards. Beyond that top three, Greg Ward may have a role in the possession game, as he’s averaged 8.3 yards per reception in his career. J.J. Arcega-Whiteside has disappointed as a former second-rounder with just 26 career targets. And 2020 fifth-rounder John Hightower adds another speed component.

At tight end, Dallas Goedert showed that he’s the No. 1 option going forward after grading at 79.5 overall, sixth-best among tight ends. He’s one of the league’s best all-around tight ends — he and George Kittle are the only two tight ends to grade at 80.0-plus both as receivers and as run blockers. Zach Ertz remains on the roster for now, but he’s on the trading block after a career-low 57.3 overall Grade. Ertz has been one of the best route runners in the league in his eight-year career, so he still has something to offer in a complementary role. When and if Ertz is moved, the backup snaps will have heavy competition between Caleb Wilson, Jason Croom, former QB Tyree Jackson and former WR Hakeem Butler.

While Eagles pass-catchers are coming off a couple of rough seasons, Smith provides hope and there are pieces in place to turn things around.    per PFF

Is that not the main reason Ertz is still here? We are negotiating with Goedert

Interesting note Mailata said him and Dillard have been rotating days as 1st team LT... It should be a good competition between the two guys.

Correct,  because Ertz struggled blocking the DBs so why put an LB on the field and put your pass defense in a worse situation.    Goedert with a blocking TE changes the dynamic, it's why I've been saying that a blocking TE was one of my offseaon wishes.   If Stoll could be that guy,  it adds a missing element to the offense.

Making the running game better is even more important when you have a running QB.

Idk what you are getting at?   Goedert is an Eagle this year, so we are not keeping Ertz around incase he isn't.  And Ertz won't be a Eagle next year,  so the Eagles don't have the option to tell Goedert " if you won't sign with us, we will just keep Ertz".

Probably waiting for the June 2nd date. He will most likely be released shortly. Unless Howie refuses to budge and keeps him on the roster so other teams cannot have him. Seems silly but Howie does silly things....

This should be the most true competition we've seen here in a while.  Both guys are the pride of the GM.   Both guys they used multiple picks to get.

Ideally Dillard wins the job and you can keep Mailata as the swing.  Maybe resign him fairly cheap.  Will be interesting.

If I had to guess.  Since it's June 3rd and Ertz is still here.  I would imagine that until there is a need for the cap space, like another potential move to be made, that Howie will hold on to Ertz.  I'd wager if a team offered him a 6th rounder right now, he would take it.

The easy PR to sell to the fans.... " we want Zach here to play with us"  this way they make Ertz seem like more of the bad guy.    Eagles are great at that.

Am I missing something? Wasn't Mailata a 6th or 7th round pick? not multiple picks....

Mmmm we traded some late rounder to secure Mailata want to say we traded a future pick to make sure we got Mailata in round 7

OK, so multiple 7th round picks?
