I don’t think it’s a man crush. He’s just real easy to root for.

Niners already had a guy go down to Achilles and another with anACL. Seems they might be snake bitten. I hope it doesn’t hold the same for us.

Read a few blurgs that said Dillard has come back stronger and more focused.

Might make for an interesting TC

It is no secret that Hurt's performance will directly affect the total amount of wins the Eagles have this year. Obviously we have many missing pieces even if he plays out of his mind. So I don't expect miracles, still we could see many more wins than I expect this year. I would love this to happen, but I just don't think it will. I guess I have been an Eagles fan for way too long (1960's). So I have gotten used to stuff happening that derails the team.....

Big thing been reading on Dillard seems he has toughened up mentally and that was always going to be the key with him…. Been saying for awhile Dillards v Mailata should make for a good camp battle and get the best from both guys.

This Eagles offense is hard to judge…

QB- I mean Hurts takes the 2nd year leap similar to that of Mcnabb you have your QB.

WR- If Smith is everything as advertised and Fulgham can get back to his nice little stretch and take the next step you have two legit WRs… Then add in Reagor/Watkins/Ward etc.

TE- Geodart I’ve talked about enough on what I believed he is capable of think he can be a top 5 TE easy.

RB- Sanders is a good RB if he can stay healthy get tad more consistent can be a great RB and we seem to have so good depth behind him.

OL- If they stay healthy the only real question mark is LT outside of that our depth is probably stronger then our 2017 OL.

Lot of what if’s and unknowns but really highlights the fact that O could swing either way and fair or not a ton of it will be dependent on Hurts play at QB.

On a random side note can we talk about Joel Embiid and just how special that man is…. Small tear in his meniscus and this man is still avg. 39.5 points vs the Hawks… Dropped 40 after getting 2nd place in MVP.

A good look at Zech McPhearson and what his strengths are in coverage.

Also, on his podcast this morning, Jason Avant said something interesting in regard to evaluating young players. He said that it is really hard to know how good players will be during the spring since there is no tackling and the drills don't give you much of an idea, but you do get a much better sense of players on the edge (corners and wide receivers) than ones on the interior.

So if we don't add a corner the rest of the way, it is likely because the coaches are somewhat comfortable with what they have in the building.

On a related note, this is a look at Jacquet against the Cowboys last year. Now, be warned that this was put out by a Cowboys fan, so it is somewhat difficult to watch because you have to listen to him. But he does make some good points about Jacquet's weaknesses.

The Dallas Cowboys Took Advantage Of Michael Jacquet III Film Session || Stop Trying To Trade Gallup - YouTube

If you compare the two corners, it is clear the McPhearson just has a better comprehension of how to play the position, especially with the ball in the air. Now, there is an obvious difference in competition and the fact that the Zech film highlighted good plays and Jacquet's was from an awful game, but it is pretty easy to see there is a technique gap between them.

But I would note that a lot of Jacquet's struggles came when he was on an island with no deep safety help. And a scheme change will make a huge difference in his game. And he clearly shows he has the athleticism to play in the league, while our past corners were simply getting beat due to their physical limitations.

Overall, I think we can deal with the growing pains of starting one of the young corners across from Slay, especially since the back seven should be a lot better this year overall. Last year we went into the season with unproven commodities at LB and safety, whereas this year we know Singleton, Wilson, Harris and McLeod (or Epps) will be solid, and that Slay will be fine on one side. I am also confident that someone on the roster will adequately fill the nickel role, whether it is Maddox or one of the young guys.

Obviously the safe route would be to just sign a corner like Nelson. But I don't mind rolling the dice on Jacquet. There's an argument to be made that Diggs looked as bad against Fulgham as Jacquet did against Gallup, and the Cowboys don't seem worried about him starting. And Jacquet seems like a player who could make a huge jump. And if he doesn't, McPhearson seems like he could at least be somewhat reliable out there based on his college tape.

I just don’t see it with Nelson he wasn’t that good 29 years old why waste to money don’t think he would be much of an upgrade…. as for Jaquet he had some decent moments last year but Schwartz scheme didn’t aid the CBS every CB in his scheme struggled(minus maybe Robinson in 2017 who had a career year). So to me given all the CBs a clean slate not going to judge them based off what they did in Schwartz scheme.

My prediction is that Slay/Maddox will be the top 2 CBs and Maddox will move inside in nickel sets…think  Zech will take the 3rd CB spot at some point but Jaquet might get first crack at it

If we get a 1st and a 3rd for Dillard, that would be cool

If Dillard plays well enough to garner a 1st and 3rd why would we trade him to begin with…

If he's not a fit for anything but a great backup if Mailata beats him (luxury to be in), would be more responsible to get another first rounder. Or if they are paranoid about OL injuries, that could be a good point.

But he won’t get a 1st not at this point and if he plays well enough to then garner a 1st would likely mean he beats Mailata for a job so then why would we trade him.

Im perfectly fine with the idea of trading Dillard if he loses the job but think we would be lucky to get a 3rd at that point.

Wouldn't this depend on how well both play in the PS? I would think if both played great, we may get a decent pick for whomever loses the job, no?

Dude... a 1st rounder for a backup????

Yeah, we might get a 3rd rounder in that scenario

Do you think we are going to get a 1st rounder for Dillard if he can’t even beat out Mailata for a starting job???? I just don’t see a team ponying up a 1st rounder for our backup LT even if that backup LT is a former 1st round pick.

I don't doubt it. I wonder what a team that has aspirations for competing for a title will cough up if they lose their starting left Tackle....? a second possibly....

Even that seems steep for a guy that’s only film starting is his rookie year and preseason games vs vanilla Ds(this year)

I hope both guys play extremely well but the return isn’t going to be nearly as high as what we gave up to get him. I truly think a strong preseason from Dillard would likely get us a 3rd at best.

To be fair think we would be lucky to get a 5th or 6th for Dillard as of right now so raising that value to a 3rd would be huge

OK, but we used a 7th for Mailata, so that kind of evens out lol

I would not trade for anything less than a 3rd. Does not make sense for us.

I think Dillard is wasted space as a backup to me it’s start or trade for whatever we can get… We already seen this man try and be a swing T and failed on the right side.

Think Driscoll is fine as the swing T and provides more versatility which is huge for backup OL when you likely only dress 8 on game day

You are assuming Dillard loses?

Not assuming anything but was stated trade Dillard for a 1st and 3rd which I stated we wouldn’t get and if we were able to get it would mean Dillard  won the job and playing extremely well which in point why would we trade him then.

As for if he loses big IF there which is again not me assuming just answering the other side of the possible outcomes yes I’d trade him for whatever for the stated reasons.
