Cleveland HAS Chubb/Hunt, Raiders have Jacobs/Drake, Ravens have Dobbins/Edwards, GB has Jones/ Williams and a rookie also that is a stud. SF has some stud RB's

Point is, there are teams out there that can pound the ball and not lose a beat with their top 2 RB's. Maybe we have that now... I guess time will tell

Williams is in Detroit and again his stats not that far off our own guys… 119 505 yards 4.2 he ran more sure but that a team philosophy thing not on the players. Production wise though not far off the rest.

Dobbins and Edwards don’t really count either as studs and they are in a run first offense with a QB that commands attention good sure.

Jacobs and Drake is this year they haven’t even played together to see if they are successful

SF RBs don’t really think there RBs are studs as much as is the system Shanny runs to utilize them.

None of those teams really have guys I’m like oh they are drastically better then our own guys. Minus Cleveland and they only have Hunt because of his stupidity and fans would have lost there minds if we signed him after what he did

System or stud RB's. Here is hoping we have either....

The sample size is small for our guys but if you project Scott out give him 144 carries(# Gus Edwards had) at his 4.7 YPC that’s 677 yards…. Gus is a tad higher but still good production for Scott.

The other question though that would have to be answers is would he keep the 4.7 YPC if he got more touches and I’m not sure.

When I look at our RBs I see guys that produced with the limited touches we gave them hard to say if they keep that production with more touches though

Well BG, based on your optimism, we are set on offense. So if Hurts does what all hope, we should do well offensively. Defense is another ball game though. I see us getting hurt with deep passes often. Our line is older and not as deep as in the past. LB's always a ?. Not allot to get excited about on the DEfense at all....

Of course, we do have the ammo to fix that next season......

Lot of IFs with our offense and think this year will/should answer those questions.

But defense has concerns for me I want to see Sweat/Barnett one of them step up show they should stay. Milton and Marlon to flash think those 3 things would be huge for our DL still need more but it would be a start.

LB- yea not much in terms of youth late rounders just have to hope they work out and our 3rd rounder develops… And yes Singleton is alright but he is what 28-29 already so not exactly a young guy.

CB- we don’t have a ton of high picks invested but I’m hoping we can get two quality starters from the youngster Zech/Jaquett/Maddox etc. don’t need all pros but if we have those in place really only need that top CB guy that has to replace Slay(who I think will be better this year in a scheme that helps the secondary more)

Hence why I think 6 wins is where we are this year. Even If Hurts steps it up we have allot of holes on this squad, not to mention age is setting in for some of our proven vets...

Really hard for me to judge if we are healthy and Hurts steps up(which I’d think means other young O players have to step up with him)think we compete in the East.
Defense I think will be solid just not built for the long term no real building blocks. Think the run D will be good  and the secondary vastly improved just by changes to the scheme.  Don’t want to say great D but wouldn’t shock me if we were higher half of the league 12-14 rank range on defense

Yes, it is hard to figure out this year. New Coaches, revamped D and new QB. Hence why the talking heads are giving us anywhere from 6 to 12 wins! no one really knows for sure....

I’m not overly concerned with wins this year more about figuring out what we have…

The offense can swing either way we could be fairly set on that unit if guys step up lot of young talent on that side.

Defense not so much but we do have some young  pieces that could be a start.

That is why I am hoping Hurts works out. Would be a huge deal grabbing defensive talent with 3 of our first 4 picks next year.... CB, DE and another piece, maybe DT or LB?

I'm inclined to go this route regardless.   I don't want to see another QB come in here and fail due to what's around him.  If we can land some defensive core players... maybe hit on an offensive lineman or RB... would be great pieces to add next year.

I doubt using a 5th round pick can be considered any sort of investment at that position. As to how much we value the position, you already said you think Siri will pound the ball more, coming from Indy. I would think that would indicate we need to invest a bit more in the position....

I’m with BG some here. I’m liking Gainwell. Really can’t wait to see what he has. I’m expecting a quality versatile weapon out of him. I think he can pass block. Catch the ball. Even lined up as a slot receiver. So comes down to how he can run the ball as to his number of touches. I think he threatens for the number two job this season. I can’t put massive expectations on a rookie week one. But this kid looks really good. Screams playmaker to me!

Scott showed to be deserving to be in the mix. Guy is thick. I know he isn’t tall. But he is tough. He wasn’t great at pass blocking last year...to be kind. Never going to be his thing. But he has to prove serviceable at least in that area. He’s got very quality hands and finds space in the passing game. I do think he’s an underrated rusher. If he improves his numbers just a notch with Sanders kicking butt....and the rook kicking things into gear.....oh...I’m liking that. All gotta be behind a kick butt Oline though. That part needs to come through. If you arguing about a fourth string RB. I don’t know there. Johnson or just stash a guy on the PS. Have an injury you can always decide to make a bigger move.

We have a good amount riding on Goedert it would appear. Can he stay healthy? Can he stay up his game in a big way? RB room has a stud, a proven backup and a big potential rook. Oline has some depth and quality starters. WR room is very young and very inexperienced. We’d expect it to take time for that to all come together. Get Reagor and DeVonta kicking butt with anybody else ready to contribute. Which I believe we have done guys. Hightower made some mistakes but he proved he can run and get open. Watkins looks like a playmaker to me. Just get him the ball and see if they can catch him. You know all the rest. But I couldn’t see these young guys being ready week one to annihilate the league.

LB room, adding Wilson gave us that missing piece. Coverage guy. Singleton looks good. Likes the contact on making his tackles. Edwards looks like a pretty solid starter. I believe in him on early downs. Good tackler. Some really solid instincts. That’s three guys there. Probably play only two most the time. Have Bradley and Taylor to battle for playing time and play ST. Bradley bring more similar to an Edwards playing style. Taylor is the huge potential guy. Really be great to see him put his athleticism into quality Backing. Also looking at stand up rushers. I think about Zimmer and his LB blitz up the middle. Maybe have a role like that. Kind of like how Schwartz had Ostman training a Joker role. Still think Ostman can contribute to this team. Like to see him get a shot. Gives you versatility. Can play that stand up rush role and be depth at DE. Avery and probably the rookie will get the first look most likely though.

There is always Free Agency also. We picked up two DT this year. Picked up a very interesting DE as well. I also like him. We had a very promising draft this season. DeVonta is going to kick some butt. I wasn’t all in on Dickerson solely based on durability. He checks every other box and I expect him to transition in very well to this level. Miami and then Bama is big time football. Milton is a freak! Tuilapato is a situational piece and depth. Tarron Jackson really intrigued me. Small school guy that looked like a beast. Think he has a good shot at developing into being worthy of a piece of the rotation. Kenneth Gainwell going to be a playmaker. McPherson is probably my biggest question mark. Not even really sure what role they have for him. His talent may be they can develop him into a a versatile player that knows the system enough to move around. Backup corner(outside and in) and ST.

We could hit on a RB this season. Also will need to resign our big RB soon. Looks like we hit on getting Herbig. Driscoll. Mailata. Seumalo isn’t old even. Dillard and Dickerson hit we would be loaded along the Oline.

We are in a pretty good position along the young talent train. Really added to our youth with this draft and next year’s expected takeaway from the draft. Previously: Edwards, Taylor, Bradley(really just need one of them to step up). All those Oline I talked were here already gaining some experience. Added Reagor, Hightower, Fulgham, Watkins in the WR last year. Sanders...but Scott is a good piece also. Sweat and Barnett are talented experienced.
Could be in a decent situation and just try and mostly BPA this next draft while having the best ammo to do so.

Let’s not forget the versatile Jacoby Stevens. They are calling him a LB. I’ve been thinking of him more as a versatile chess piece.

Taylor I don’t know much to think about him. But his whole scouting profile was not much experience, super athletic and needs to develop. So I’m open minded to him still being a factor.

I'm not as high as you Sanders.

Sanders has 14 carries of over 15 yards. An average of 3.3 yards after contact per carry.

I have Sanders right about top ten.

Guess it depends on how you feel about Chris Carson, Jonathan Taylor and Josh Jacobs. Najee Harris getting drafted to the Steelers has huge potential.

Yeah...that's a no for me.

Couldn't agree more Stine. If feasible, next draft needs to be D heavy.
