Idk just feels like a spite/petty play by JP I could be way off base I dont know everything going on with it... But seems to me he bit displeased we didn’t come back to him to begin with to play LT opting to go with Dillard and when we did reach out it was to play RG....

To add my two cents to the discussion: Ideally when Alshon is healthy and able to play you use him. You want him to show enough to become valuable trade bait. So I’d probably try to force feed him a bit for a week or two to show he still has it to the rest of the league.

Don’t think his value increases much if at all.... He is a 30-31 year old WR reality is 5th rounder or later is likely the best we getting if we went the trade route with him....  it again to me it’s not a must move it’s just something in our back pocket to consider depending how things play out with our young WRs

Why I’m saying we don’t have to rush anything we have time. We can see what the youngsters can do in actual games. If they are not getting it done we still have alshon... If they are doing well we can move alshon save around 10m.

I followed this thought the whole time without confusion, wasn't hard.  I think all this occurs organically anyway, simply due to the injury.    I'm still skeptical we get a full season done, so the more the youth play the better for me.

Well we already made the comittment.I do agree to date we have not gotten the value we wanted.I don't see us keeping him after this season, but the money is invested,so you play the guy.maybe he gets hurt.nothing wrong with getting guys ready to step in(thats we drafted them).but as long as Alshon has a pulse,I'm gonna milk him because as you stated "he owes us".Last year he played hurt,so the hope is he returns to his '17 form.In either case I'm playing the guy I am paying until he can't play.We know he won't start the season, but when he's ready he's is playing if I am the coach. Reagor pretty much HAS to start. So far,he looks good enough to do it opposite Djax. So,the question is who goes slot when Alshon returns? I would like to see various formations moving all the WR's(sans Djax) in and out to keep defenses dancing/off balance depending who we play

If Alshon returns.   Lets not make it automatic yet.

So at what point do you decide that others who are dominating,so much so Alshon is not needed that you trade him(or a 10 mil insurance policy). Before or after he gets healthy?

For me... I'm trying to trade him the whole time, simply because he won't be here next year anyway, so makes sense to try to get as much cap space as possible.  The otehjr reason is, I don't think they finish the season.  If alshon won't be ready until the second half of a season in which I don't think they will finish... then I don'y even need to see the performance of the young WRs.    But, like BG said, we will have the advantage of the wait and see approach.  The beauty of it now, you can argue back and forth all you want about what ifs, but until Alshon is physically ready to play and we see that the outlook is probable that the season will finish... and all that time seeing how the young WRs perform.  We don't need to make any decisions at all.  Right now its all " what if"   and any what if can happen, including a what if Alshon isn't medically cleared to play in 2020?

But like I said, i'm trading Alshon tomorrow if there is a taker.   The % of the Eagles winning a SB is lower when in my mind there is a chance nobody wins a SB this year, and a player who isn't going to be here next year that can save me cap space and possibly get a pick back.  I'll jump on that any time from now until the trade deadline.

BG, Ham is correct here... his trade value goes up simply showing that he can currently play.  Until he gets back on the field, other teams won't really know, its why his current trade value is kinda low ... logically speaking anyway.   Just going out one game to show for sure that he can do it, trade value should go up.

Eagles will scrimmage today, which should give us a pretty good indication of where we are with our tackle situation. My guess is that it is a two horse race between Pryor and Mailata, with the loser being the swing tackle.

Personally I want the team to go ahead and put Mailata in there. He has the highest ceiling and Pryor is, at best, a backup. The Steelers had to put Villanueva in at LT in the 2015 season due to injuries to two guys ahead of him, and he initially struggled, but in his third year he was in the pro bowl. And it's not like he was a no-brainer right away. The media in 2015 listed him as a bubble player, and since he was third on the depth chart, no one expected him to play. But they took a risk and were rewarded.

I see a lot of people claiming that Mailata will get Wentz killed, but it didn't happen with Big Ben in Pittsburgh, and now they have one of the best LTs in the game. Sometimes you have to take a risk, and Mailata isn't going to get better if he doesn't get reps in a game.

I disagree. Pryor is clearly the better player. Pryor fits your description better. Brooks went down and Pryor was ready to step in. I had no problem with him taking over the RG spot. That’s what I expect to happen. They’ll work out the moving Peters to LT situation  before the first game.

It’s sounding like Mailata was just a reach and pipe dream.

No I disagree I think his value will be low regardless... Him getting on the field might make a few more teams interested but don’t see his value increasing much as I stated agree disagree don’t care. What is the realistic value you think we get for a 30ish WR right now I’d say maybe a 5th or 6th for alshon if he shows he is healthy maybe and it’s a big maybe we could land a 4th so as I said don’t see a huge value increase

Mmmmmm Pryor did alright and was put in a bad spot but let’s not act like he stepped in and anchored it down if he did that great we wouldn’t have went out to sign Peters to RG

Also Mailata ceiling is higher if he put it all together the issue his floor is way lower as well.... Pryor is the safe option for sure

Lmao can’t reach on a 7th round pick plus everything I’ve seen and heard he been doing fine and coming along nicely dude is just going into his 3rd year after coming to the nfl with no football experience. He played decently last preseason as well.

Don’t think Stout and the rest of the staff keeping him around if he wasn’t progressing. Not just keeping him but keeping him on the 53 at that

My guess to start the year we will have Mailata or Pryor starting at LT

Wentz out for today. I hope it is just precautionary. The team seems to be taking a real cautionary approach with starters.

It will be interesting to see how Sudfeld and Hurts do, since they are battling for the backup job.

Said soft tissue injury for Wentz day to day it is just precautionary so he will be ready for the season... Means hurts/Sudd should get plenty of reps

Josh Sweat apparently our here having a field day on Pryor

Pryor just gave up back to back sacks to Sweat. The problem is that he's slow, and a speed rusher like Sweat is going to eat him up.

Sweat also beat Mailata(playing RT) once

On the flip side I did have super high expectations for Sweat coming into the season. I want to see him firmly take that 3rd DE spot this year and have us thinking maybe this guy should be a starter by seasons end.

Wanting 6.5+ sacks for Sweat this year and as a 3rd DE that would be amazing production

Time for these 2nd and 3rd year guys to put up or get out of town. That Sweat, Jones, Douglas, Pryor, Mailata etc.

Some guy named Mike Kaye was the only one reporting that, and he firmly believes that Driscoll should be our starting LT, so you need to take anything he writes with a grain of salt.

Lmao if Mailata got beat at LT maybe I would be concerned but he was playing RT and a reporter lying to us fans means nothing he gains nothing from it.

This is not ideal.

Sweat is just feasting today not sure if that is him just taking strides forward or how bad our 1st team Ts have been....I’m coming at all 3 since Driscoll has gotta some 1st team reps as well
