Forget Watson, noone wants him here, at least noone I am aware of. Hurts looked ok to me today. Not great, but I saw progress which has been missing for me. Once again we had a makeshift O line ,why would  you run 3 downs with that? They were more worried about protecting Hurts

Agree on Watson

As for Hurts i'm interested to see how he does against Carolina next week.

Exactly if Rosie is dead set on wheeling dealing for Watson the trade deadline is the last possible minute. Some feel Miami is ready to pull the trigger now with Tua hurt. So Rosie is forcing Siri to force Hurts to throw throw throw. If you believe that rumor. Think we all know Rosie has been very involved in the Watson situation all along.

Maybe that's why they get first HCs because they know he's less likely to push back.

If he takes Watson I will become  Panthers fan especially if we gave up 3-1's and 2-2's

UGH I took the Carolina D in 1 league.Got destroyed lol. Dullaz isn't as bad as everyone keeps saying. They put it up on a pretty good defense

If they give up the 2 1sts or god forbid all 3 to get him  i'm gonna pack up all my Eagles gear and send it back to Philly with a big FU letter inside.

BTW I am not buying for an instant that Watson has anything to do with "forced" play calling

Watsons legal issues will NOT be done by the trade deadline. You wanna give up all that stuff, then he gets sent away? Thats' stupidity at it's best. Goodell can still ban him if he wants to after he is traded. You wanna take that chance?

Yes, no doubt. But also the hot or more experienced guys know that’s the situation here. If you win a SB and they still are going to force you to fire people and grill you about playing winning football. Who will deal with that?

Rosie has been digging into the situation the whole time. He should have a good read on things. Besides moves for this team shouldn’t be made just for this season. Long view is all that’s really important here.

IDK Lurie needs to grow a pair and get a GM installed. Of course we know that won't happen. Howie has nude pics of Lurie at the Miami massage parlor

Yeah 20 years(or more) it looks like lol. So I hope we have a nice team for him in 20 years(I will be dead TG)

If you believe, like BG, that Hurts would be a part of the deal….I’d say he became more of a bargaining chip after today.

IDK he has what 21 different women with charges against him? I mean if it was 1 or 2 they may be lying, but 21???? This shouldn't even be considered

Hurts isn't good enough to be a bargaining chip.Let's be realistic

We're tied for last in the division,I doubt anyone is impressed with Hurts yet IMO

I’m not being swayed by numbers. I think the law should be the judge here. So I’ll judge him off his convictions. Those haven’t happened yet. Not sure any are forth coming either

It is a bummer when you know your team has very little chance of winning a HOME game. That is what we saw today and worse; that is what we expected today.

Observations:

* We found out how the coach would adjust with a limited QB - short passes. It actually worked well for this game. The team just couldnt capitalize in the red zone. Steve Young always talks about how easy it is for offenses to move the ball between the 20s, but it falls on the QB to score TDs. Hurts fell short.

* Hurts made some plays today and some nice short throws. I do worry that if that’s all he can do successfully, it will be much easier to defend, ala Mark Sanchez. He did make a couple (2) of nice mid level throws that were negated….one which was on Smith going OB. Now, he missed several open WRs that were key misses. I dont expect him to be perfect…..but, those misses are HUGE misses.

* No punts by either team today.

* Backup OLinemen played surprisingly well.  They did see a LOT of action last season, which helped.

* Now for my rant: Hurts, this is your freaking job! This is something you practice all day every day. When your coach calls an RPO, you CANNOT run around behind the line of scrimmage for an extra 3 seconds or so and THEN DECIDE TO THROW THE BALL. Remember, you practice this everyday. This is your job. This is a boneheaded mistake you continue to make. Yes, BONEHEADED mistake that your linemen get penalized for and it is 100% YOUR FAULT.  It is either a handoff or a QUICK throw. It is not hard to understand this concept.

* Defense - oh my. Today and last Monday was the defense I expected for this season. Beyond Cox, Slay, and a surprise (Hargrave) this defense lacks talent everywhere. I do like Singleton because I love his effort as a professional. The rest? Oh boy. Yes, it was Patrick Mahomes this week. But this defense will not scare anybody. Play zone all game and get killed by the run and short passing game. Tendencies so far? PASSIVE football. Even vs the Falcons, the D got bailed out by some ticky tak penalties on huge gains that would have changed the stats and the score.

Hurts had three TDs called back by penalties and Ward let one TD slip through his hands. Still scored 30 points.

And congrats to Andy Reid on a major accomplishment that no other NFL coach in the history of the league had accomplished prior in wInning 100 games for two different teams.

2 of those penalties were Hurts’ fault!

Didn’t really see Hurts miss on much of anything today. So you just never going to give him a fair shake. Guy has to be Dan Marino for you to accept him as a starter.

This year is what it is. It sucks. Its a 4 win season…. maybe.

Dan Marino? Hell, I’d take him now! Just kidding.

It is what it is. I am critical as I don’t see him as a game changer. I guess my expectations are too high.  Are you legitimately that big of a fan of Hurts or do you just want the guy that is doubted to overcome the doubters? Are you a big Oklahoma or Alabama fan? Just want to understand the man crush on a QB that is not winning games. He now has a ton of WR talent and awesome TEs. How long do you give him a "pass”, pun intended?

Marino won games by outscoring the opponent with garbage WRs that he MADE into all pros with his unbelievable throws. Hurts WON’T be the second coming of Marino, but he will have to win at some point or he will find his rightful spot on the bench.

Why are we continuing to talk about a guy that’s not on the team? Watson…..the speculation seems stupid. Why would you even consider the guy while he has legal issues to deal with? Makes no sense to me.

wow. Rams D is getting gashed by the Cardinals….i mean gashed!

I actually don’t think I’m that high on Hurts. Just seems everybody is bashing him as garbage. I believe he’s a quality NFL starter that if we surround him with talent can win games. Feel you can win games in the NFL without paying a QB 40 mil. But this team is garbage. That I’ve been complaining about going down hill for years.

A ton of Wr talent is exaggerated. I’ll say Reagor, Smith and Watkins do have talent. Just hasn’t been developed yet is all. Can point to many teams in the league that have better WRs.

  • Author

What I saw is Hurts taking hits and delivering quality passes. No defense. No running game other than himself. Penalties everywhere killing us. A few questionable playcalls in the redzone from a green coach. Ward letting the pass go through his hands in the end zone. With no RB rushing Hurts threw for over 450 yards and scored over 40 points. Young inexperienced receivers and hardly any blocking up front. Not sure what to complain about here.

I can respect that.
