Stine... what did Dallas pay?  They pay signing bonus. The new team picks up any future salary.   But I believe Smith cleared waivers correct?  Green Bay did not claim him?  In that case he was a free agent and Green Bay was not on the hook for anything but a new deal.    

So there were 2 ways the Eagles could get Smith.   1. Was the waiver claim and that meant they take on that contract that was in place.    2 was after he cleared waivers and that means he would want to come here.   That wasn't going to happen...so it was really only the waiver claim.

You aren't getting it.   He cleared waivers and was a free agent and chose GB.    The Eagles didn't have the choice other than the waiver claim.  Which meant no cheap deal, it would have been the previous contract. 

I stand corrected.... Smith did not have to clear waivers.   Whatever rule they have.   So he was immediately a free agent.   Basically, he would have to have chosen the Eagles.    Which wasn't going to happen.  So all that blaming Howie or the Eagles was moot.   They didn't have any control of the situation.

Yeah ONLY because it was a 1 year deal. Curious though as to WHAT that means, balance of this year AND next? Thats almost a 2 year deal,or just the remainder of this year

Yeah because noone wants to play here because we don't get anyone to play here, but we used to have players that wanted to play here,  but we effed that up too, and while it may be a matter of choice for him, we didn't even try, because yep NOONE wants to play here(remember when I said Devonta didn't look happy we picked him?) SO being that NOONE wants to play here I supsect we can lose Howie and let the janitor make the offers, since they will all be turned down anyhow 🤣

I think they are trying to get him to pass more, so running plays are rare. IDk if that's a strategy, or just lack of faith in your O line opening holes. We even give up the running game when it's working. No smash mouth RB at the GL and our only basher is on the PS,so now teams have no fear of us running from the 2

It was rumored the Eagles, Giants and Green Bay were in on Smith.   So I think assuming we didn't try is incorrect.   I agree with the bigger problem... free agents don't want to come here at the moment.   But that comes with the perception of where the team is at and where it's going.   

It's why I want to reset and do it right, like 2016.
