Seems like most GMs are trying to keep their jobs. I get that. But trying to make your team reach five wins isn’t doing anything for the big picture of the franchise. So you’d have to be a GM in solid enough position to eat a bad season or two.

Howie is gonna be fat soon then because he will be eating plenty!

I would refer to it as rebuilding. Should start with the money.

But he’s been spending while doing it. That doesn’t help. Just furthers the issues.

I'll explain ...maybe

To start with the money...it means cutting and not extending anyone.  Which I would be ok with.  But it wouldn't work how you would want to pay Mailata or Sweat.

You can extend Mailata ,  Sweatand Goedert. But you would have not done the money they did with Graham and others.  So you aren’t getting that if I use one contract that doesn’t unscrew the years of Rosie Magic. It’s all of them. Cut the fat also. Do both and just accept a dead season or two.

IDK I think you have to extend some and save while doing it. it's like if you made a deal to buy gas at 2.50 a gallon for 3 years starting last year. You'd be in good shape about now

Go back to the 2019 offseason and stop doing those contracts. Then we’d really be able to go forward.

Correct.  We agree there... lots of wrong signings.   But we would disagree on the key move that to me screws up the cap.

To me...the move was to get Diggs last year.   You had your QB, spend to get him a proven WR entering his prime.   Then instead of 10 moves..... the one cap move that would have been huge, redo the QBs deal as it was designed to be done.  Would have enabled all these old guys to get off the books ASAP.

Instead they invested in Hargrave and Reagor...  and were forced into all these other moves.     Including possibly jumping the gun on Mailata and Sweat.

How are you going to extend those 3 doing contracts your way?    Flip the cap hits so 2024 hits are for this year?  You don't see the multiple issues with this?

Ham.... it's 2021.  You wake up tomorrow you gotta make decisions about now and the future.   You will be exactly where you want to be in 2023-24.   Much like it took the 49ers a few seasons to do it.     My issue will be that the new core will need to be drafted by then?  Most important thing are these next couple of drafts, the cap will take care of itself, just by going younger.

Of coarse I do. But you aren’t getting it because you are basing it off doing it wrong previously. Your saying my way won’t work because you clusterfuc7ed everything so bad already with your way.

Ham is right on some things though.   Ertz needed to be traded before last season.  Both for getting the better pick.  Let's say it was just a 4th rounder.. it's better than a 5th.   But to get his salary off the books faster. The money from 2020 can never be recovered.   Signing Peters.... last year was a waste, but even 2019 was a stretch... can't get that cap space back.

You could argue Alshon and DeSean and injuries....things may have been different.  But going into 2020, Ertz and Peters shouldn't have been on the books.  These one year free agents they signed... wow those discussions where everyone loved Harris and I was crucified for not liking it.... that's cap space we can't get back.  That all adds up.

Ok....I'm giving you all the cap space you want...  tell me how you extend those 3....show me numbers.

I'll give you $50 mil of cap space each year for 5 years....show me how you work those 3 contracts.   And then explain the rolling cap.

I’m going to go out on a limb and state that Hurts balls out this game. Think he scores three TDs.

Did you get that from Timothy Leary?

I do respect your opinion though. Hope you are right but………doubt it.

The Eagles officially ruled out McPhearson (hamstring) and Sanders (ankle/foot). S - Harris is doubtful.  Howard practiced with the starters, but STILL not activated.

Sirianni said that safety K'Von Wallace (shoulder) – and tight end Tyree Jackson (back) – could be activated off Injured Reserve.

If this happens - Lions top running backs Swift, Williams questionable for Sunday - the wet paper bag run D might have a chance. If this does happen I predict 2 INT's with one being a pick 6. Yeah, pipe dream lol

OH if those 2 are out there should be zero excuse not to win.If we lost with both those guys out and I were Siri,I would just go into the locker room, say goodbye and get on a bus to anywhere

We are missing Sanders...isn't he the stud?      2021, it's going to be the QBs and their weapons that matter most.   They need to cover the TE and the young WRs and get to Goff.   Plus we have Hurts,  so a loss is always possible.

Watching the Bearcats. Ridder would be a perfect fit for this team(as it is). Smooth throwing motion, decisive, hits the long accurate ball. My fear would be ruining him with "coaching" lol

We don't use Sanders enough for him to be a stud. The lack of pass rush is what kills our secondary. I'm hoping we see a stellar game from Gainwell. Maybe we FINALLY use a basher(Howard) back for 3rd and 1????(I can dream right?)

Indications are both Lions RB's will play barring any setbacks

Then we're pretty much screwed lol. This Run D couldn't stop someone going backwards

Picked up Scott as a flex, this is the usual success of the backups and then, " why don't we use them more" discussions.

Howard and Rodgers activated for tomorrow only

Wallace staring along w/McLeod for Harris.
