2 different things.

Nope, it's innovation. That is all it needs to be.The D has no plan for it and that's the point of innovation. Do it once with Mailiata in a game that counts(SB or the game to get us there) and now you have a decoy basically forever. Don't even have to give him the ball ever again, just that fact it's been seen and they have to now plan for it if we call "tackle eligible" so we'll just have to disagree

Nope... it's 2 different things.   One thing is specific,  the other is general and encompasses more.    It's really not even close to the same thing.   And really... a guy in the backfield taking a handoff is not innovation.   Before the play, he would have to report as eligible,  then lineup where people see him in position to take a handoff.   Where is the innovation.  Teams do that all the time.

The Philly Special involved the QB acting like he was trying to communicate something,  a quick snap to another player, a misdirection,  lateral and a pass coming from someone who wasn't in the backfield.  That's before the QB catching a pass, which to me is not innovation by itself because we see that plenty, including Brady in the same game.

Now innovation would be Mailata lining up on the line and coming around to take a handoff.  That would be something new, not just a big guy lining up to take a handoff that we have all seen plenty of times.

This is my issue why wait if we know do something about it… me personally I’d rather use picks when we have them the give up 3 firsts over 3 years.

crap we could have a QB our entire rest of draft in 2022 and nothing mortgaged in future drafts that’s an ideal situation vs… Couple extra picks in 22 then in 23 we give up our firsts in 23-25 for the QB

Well said, and I get this 100%.   But here is my view.

You look at this particular team and say,  what if we had a better QB.  I look at this team and see... an OL that has dominated lately,  but can see 2 of them not being here in 2 years ( Kelce and Lane)

I see a CB that has made some big plays the last few weeks,  probably won't be here in 2 years.

I see Cox and McCloud probably not going to be here in 2 years.

In other words,  I see more holes coming.   That's without Brooks, Graham and maybe Hargrave included in that.

If I use 3 picks, where all of them could be better than pick 20 for a QB now, he gets his feet wet next year, now it's year 2, and we have more holes to fill around him, idk what that does for us.

If we use the picks now on players that could play at other positions,  then draft the QB in 2023, when that QB goes into his 2nd year, we have 3 guys who were selected pretty high going into their 3rd years.

You also should have a better cap situation in 2023 and 2024 than you do in 2022.  So that means you could supplement better in FA to make up for any short coming in draft picks.

Personally,  I don't want to use 3 first round picks in ANY year, to get a QB.  That's too much IMO.  I don't feel we would need to, but most likely we would need to use 2.

I also look at a couple other things.... If we move on from Hurts, it needs to be 100% obvious to everyone.  Otherwise you loose the locker room, part of the fanbase,  and you really put the next QB in a bad spot.      Also, QBs usually get hyped, the fact that I don't see any hype for any of these college kids yet, makes me a little concerned.   But it could also work in our favor, if the right one falls, maybe use one pick.   I think in a year with more QB hype, maybe we get the Watson, Mahomes  Allen or Herbert with one pick?

Which to be honest is my biggest thing.  It has to be identify the right guy, and not give up too much.  Bring him in a stable situation with more of a team already there.   I just feel this year the asking price is going to be too high with Detroit and Houston being at the top of the draft.

I agree... I don't think this front office is going to spend the $$ on the current QB.  Not with the limitations he has.   It's why I am good giving him the full 2 years to play.  It's probably going to be his only time before he gets put on the backup tour.  With QBs there doesn't seem to be an in-between... once your rookie deal is up, you are either the guy that gets the big $$$ or you get replaced.

How many playoff games is he a part of before he has to get paid? Figure, this is his second year….on a four year deal. Got the Franchise tag. So plenty of time to get all into all that.

The Eagles will make their decision after next year, that is their way of doing things, they jump on it early to save $$.   I doubt he gets tagged, way too costly for a QB when you look at cap hit.     He will get his 2 seasons,  and a decision will be made.   Its why I say you have to judge them all by the same standard, they will eventually all have to be paid, unless we keep using QBs on rookie deals then get rid of them.   $30 mil is going to be half price soon enough for a QB.

I'm not paying him,unless it's as a BU(what he was drafted for)

Let's get 1 playoff game before we worry about that.

I’m just trusting the process honestly if we like a QB get him if we don’t then get other spots. Again I’ve stated numerous times the 1 position I trust the Eagles FO to get right when they go all in is QB. Building the team around that QB now is a different story.

As for the OL two years is a long time in the nfl we going to possibly need replacements.

Sounds like a QB the team isn’t sold on. If you have full confidence in your QB the goal would be to lock him up sooner rather then later.

But for Hurts to get paid and be the guy it’s really simple he has to show he can win games with his arm.

It’s great he is flashy great he can run great we can find some success when we run but we see this all the time hell look at the ravens as prime example if your QB can win games with his arm your not going far.

This is a stickler for me. We trusted Howie to get Wentz. it was worth doing, but instead of admitting Wentz was the guy, and he failed to surround him with a team, he made him and Ped scapegoats, which IMO ruins Howie's integrity as far as "trusting the process". He also wasted a boatload of money in the "process". We treated Foles better. I like the line guys we find LATE. IDK who does that scouting, but they have been fairly successful at finding those lesser ranked players and the TE scouts here are terrific!!!! I always wondered why that staff wasn't put on WR's lol. RE:Ravens. In one league I got Jackson,he's been killing me since day 1. He's playing like Winston hot/cold and unreliable lol

Stout is a great Oline coach. We got a new TE coach though….so….he needs to earn his own.

https://www.drafttek.com/2022-NFL-Mock-Draft/2022-NFL-Mock-Draft-Round-1.asp   They only have 2 picks in round 1 for us(and I would NOT move up as they suggest here, but I can't argue with the choices. I still say Olave/Smith/Quez would be a superior WR crew going forward. I can't coddle Reagor any longer if I am Howie and y'all know I have man crush on Olave. Wilson is just as good,so either works for me. Then in '23 maybe we can get Stroud and reunite them(I like Young also)

True, but I believe most of the support staff is intact, the scouts, the underlings that bring him the best guys We've never had an issue finding and developing a TE that I can recall
