Bluff called with Peters ... miraculously he wants to play left tackle now...lol

"The OL mess"     Is basically Brooks injury causing the proper backup Pryor to go into the starting lineup ... and Dillard;s injury to prolong Peters tenure at LT.    The real " mess" will be when Peters comes out of the game, then we will see what's up?

The issue still remains to me, because it was never about Peters playing LT (that move was easy to see, regardless of the BS with his contract)... it's not having 2 guys we know can play it like we have had for the last 3 years with any combo of Peters, Big V and Dillard.  That is what occurred once we lost Dillard, the luxury that we have had the last 3 years is no longer there.  So hopefully Peters can play as much as possible. Hopefully when he comes out, the replacement does ok.

My big concern has been and will be the DL.  The depth at DT to me is a must, because my confidence in the DEs at the moment is not there.  Graham still good, but who knows when his play slips... Barnett on the cusp of being almost on the cusp of being 2 years away ... that's how I see him until he actually steps up to being above average.  And not " per snap"  it's about earning the volume of snaps in the first place.    Sweat, is good for a backup... it;s still a backup level.   Curry is what he is, another backup.   It's not bad at all, it;s just really so so at DE for me, with potential to be bad just as much if not more that to be anything above average.     And big picture, the DL needs to play well for the defense to be any good.  To even have a  chance.   The LBs and DBs I don;t even concern myself with, they are in cleanup roles, without the DL playing at least at a " very good" level, it doesn't matter.

Skill positions on offense, I love the youth,  Can' t be any worse from where it was last year.  Just excited to see new young faces in there.

Oline worries me more than the Dline. I agree with most of your assessment about any replacements from here in gets tricky. The Dline just needs to be healthy. Don’t know exactly what Hargreaves situation is exactly. Barnett is ready to get it done if he can finally stay healthy. I think Sweat proved himself very capable as only the fourth DE last season. Curry used sparingly can cover all kinds of holes taking over as the backup DE or DT. He really had a quality season last year. I feel like I can argue that Graham is at the end of his prime still. He was used very lightly his first years in the league. He’s hitting on all cylinders. Fletch I’m calling for a career year from. Just going to eat people alive! Jackson you know is hungry to show something this year. He’s obviously been a big time player. Let’s see what he’s still got. Ridgeway as part of the rotation isn’t bad. I foresee Ostman as part of the mix. That guy is ready to prove he’s an NFL player. He’ll be coming off the practice squad and contributing sooner...or later. So I feel like we have four proven DEs. All with the potential to move inside.

And No Mas Cleanup roles is tackling. Big part of the game. The other part is coverage. Gotta make theQB hesitant to throw To a contested WR. Gives the Dline that extra half second. I think our DEs are going to eat vs The Football Team!

He isn't going to get top dollar though! At this late stage I doubt it'll be much more than vet minimum with incentives based around how much he plays etc.

Ham, I think the rest of the defense was all cleanup.... it fed off of the DL big time in 2017.   I don't think it's coincidence the drop off since.  WE finally have one guy that is one of the better CBs... we shall see what happens.    The DL scares me more in a sense that ... if the OL is ok, I think the O will be fine.   If the DL is ok ... I think the D struggles.   The DL has to be elite to great to very good.... being ok doesn't do much, very rare you see a SB winner with just an OK DL.  You could argue the recent Pats, but thy scheme as part of their type of play, the Eagles... you see the wide 9 coming from a mile away, we have to win with talent.

Barnett is a step away from being a step away and from being this and that.    It's optimistic like a kid on Xmas thinking he is going to get his favorite toy as far as thinking Barnett is finally ready this year.  Right now... pick #14 for average result and potential.  The potential needs to turn into the result.   Can he do it... I have no reason to say yes or no... he hasn't shown it to me yet.  Not to the level that he will have to play as our #1 highest paid DE... probably starting next year!   I think he fits in as your 4th best DL... not what we need from him going forward.  Health is part of it.

But to clarify again  .... I think DL better than OL ... we agree... but I think DL has to be better, OL can be adequate IMO.

I mean we have 4 proven DEs but not like we have anything special at DE which is where I think joe was coming from.

Graham- is very good but far from elite not like he is getting any younger either

Barnett- thought his rookie year has been by far his best year but to be fair has dealt with injuries. Think he can be similar maybe slightly better then Graham if he stays healthy.

Sweat- 3rd-4th DE right now is what he has shown I do think he can be more still think he has the highest ceiling for our current DEs

Curry- he is a serviceable player can start in a pinch.

Ostman- we brought Curry back to essentially be a 3rd(or 4th DE) and kept Toohill over him... Didn’t have enough faith in the guy to let him be our 4th or 5th DE...

Correct!    And I beleive " special"  is more important at that spot than on the OL.  OL you just need to avoid having a hole.   One stud and one dud doesn't work on the OL... where as one stud and one dud can work and the stud draws the double team... the OL isn't going to block 2 guys!

As far as DE in general, I think they like Curry and Graham because they are big and strong enough to collapse the pocket and force the qb to step up into Cox/Jackson/Hargrave, which is how our dline is constructed. Ostman is somewhat of a tweener, in that he doesn't have the elite speed to beat tackles off the edge, but can't move them with a bullrush either. Which is why I think he was cut and then went unclaimed. Toohill and Avery are guys who can drop into coverage, so they give our line a different look.

I think that's why Ostman and Miller were cut, since they don't fit either mold. It's also why I don't think they should bring back Barnett next year. He's worth $10 million, but he isn't a great fit for our defense. It's not hard to find a DE like Curry, and they tend to be cheap. I think they can restructure Graham to get his cap hit down to about $8 million a year, and then draft a guy relatively early to replace Barnett in the defense.

Graham was never an elite pass rusher but he closes the corner down like no one else on the team

I think they like Graham because he is a good player and Curry is serviceable bout it.... Schwartz is definitely known to get the most from DTs but he has also gotten some great work from DEs as well from Kearse with the titans to Mario Williams Jerry Hughes in Buffalo....

Even Graham had his best sack season under Schwartz 9.5 sacks I believe....

Issue we just don’t have those real elite edge rushers

Not sure if it was mentioned but Richard Rodgers was resigned making our roster full again

We were middle of the road, sacks wise, with injuries and no coverage. Our coverage almost has to improve this season. Sacks are going to be up. Just got to get some of these guys back healthy and ready to ball. I think Barnett and Sweat are going to be a great tandem. Just want to see BG have one more electric season.

Is that for the double team help against Young, Kerrigan and Sweat? And wasn’t he trying to make their team?

Elite? Is Brandon Graham going down in the Eagles Hall of Fame? I think he is. I also think he could pull out his career season this year.

The Philadelphia Eagles designated the following four players ahead of Week 1: wide receiver Deontay Burnett, offensive guard Sua Opeta, defensive end Joe Ostman, and cornerback Trevor Williams.

Vinny  Curry was ranked 17 best pass rusher last season. He fits Schwartz system better than you guys are giving credit.

Oline you need synergy. Five guys working together.
