This is also baloney because there were better QB's last year. Easier this year for him to be taken higher. Once again self centered/selfish. I am aware other players stay another year to make things better for them, but they PLAY in the GAMES. So I hope we DONT get him,you can have him if you want, but my support for him is dead and he killed it. You think the QB's on the rest of the bowl teams aren't gonna play ???

They aren’t. Strong isn’t playing for Nevada.

Yep WAY too many. Once again it's all about the dollars

How can you ask these kids to trash potentially millions of dollars all to make the NCAA rich?

That’s the issue really most players see no value in the bowl games now they are essentially meaningless just another regular season game.

Why you seen guys like Pickett play still in the ACC championship game it meant something you are playing for the ACC championship if you are a 6-6 team but you can still make a bowl game.

Used to mean something to make a bowl when you only had 11-20 bowl games that’s meaningful your one of the top 40 teams.

There is what like 130 college teams in D1 and 88 of those 130 get to play in a bowl game with the NCAA having 44 bowl games.

This would be like 22 NFL teams making the playoffs.

With 8 catches, Zach Ertz also would join Hall of Famer Jackie Smith (56 in 1967) and Freddie Jones (55 in 2003) as the only TEs in Cardinals history with 50+ receptions in a season.

Byron Leftwich becoming the Jags would be interesting considered one of the better young OC in the nfl he was trending upward even before Brady came to town though Brady put him over the top now.

On top of that former Jag player

Thats one-WHEEEEE you found the lone marble at the bottom of the lake other than quitter Pickett. So that's TWO "to hell with my teammates who got me here" players who only care about the figure in the mirror

yes, better to make the NFL richer. And I'm sure they had to pay their way through college 🤣

NO. You see, unlike the NFL there are no contracts. These smaller school kids don't all have wealthy parents, nor do they get "full ride" scholarships. For them, those little "meaningless"(to you) bowl games are their SUPERBOWL.  A chance for all those that won't be superstar round 1 draft picks to say they won something. How about a little love for they guys that have to earn their way? Not all NFL players have silver spoons stuck in their mouths. But those that are less fortunate, although the million dollar contracts will elude them in the NFL, can point to something their team won and still carve out a living wage in the NFL So no,not the same at all

Actually, I believe I was one of the first to get this.  I was set to do a DJ job at a big club on Fort Myers Beach(Lani Kai). It was under a tiki hut and usually 2,000 people there. I had DJ friends and we would call each other in pinches and sub. So something came up(I was showing my house then) and I called my 38 year old buddy to cover for me. He was one of the first to contract covid in March of 2019 when we had no clue what this was. I assume he contracted it the at the job I should have been at(lots of college kids and tourists). I can't say that for certain, but i still feel the pain. He passed away at 38,and I have to live with it every day. It should have been me 😞. I felt terrible myself for about 8/9 days,so I believe it hit FL pretty early on. But I'm here FWIW

IT SHOULDN''T be you bro NOT your destiny. I am a veteran I swore an oath but this Covid BS...as a 64,yr old with ALL 3 shots...still facing infection makes me feel like the proverbial rat in the maze being fed BS. Fight for yours and your children futures...Many are trying to take that away from us.Happy New Year bro. GO EAGLES.

Sorry don’t believe in participation trophies. When over half the colleges in D1 get to play in a bowl game that makes them meaningless

If I was a college player I’d definitely see more value in my conference championship then a bowl game  it that’s just me

To you they may be meaningless,to someone else they are the window to their future

Clearly they are meaningless to lot of players hence they are opting out

Clearly we are talking about future stars vs "regular guys" and the guys that opt out are self entitled prima donna WUSSIES

I hope we make the playoffs and our entire offensive line "opts out", so they can save themselves for the SB 🤣

Or they don’t see the value in a game that 2/3 of the country get to play in….I’d be pissed as a player to if we busted our ass for a winning record then see a team with a .500 record or worse still getting to play in bowl games.

Clearly see why these players don’t value the bowl games…. Didn’t see these guys opt out of there conference championship games though wonder why because it actually means something.

If there were 11 different SBs with 22 of the 32 NFL team playing in them that would be the equivalent to a bowl game

Or the final week of the season when team rest there starters to save them for the playoffs is another prime example

Conversely alot of smaller leagues are lopsided. You may play 1 or 2 decent teams all year(like winning the NFCE) Bowl games allow scouts to see players play vs comparable competition that they would otherwise not see. So we disagree, nothing new there

No, because there aren't 260 NFL teams

A CMU player had a  leg injury in the 4th quarter of yesterdays Sun Bowl. Left the field in an air cast. Can't remember his name

He was labled an "NFL prospect" so not a high draft pick.

Makes me understand why some players opt out of meaningless bowl games.

Dan Reeves dead at 77. RIP

If he didn't play would you have noticed he was alive?(you dont even know his name but you know he was playing) Would the scouts? Once again meaningless is to YOU. What about the WR's who die on the vine without their QB? There was no pride for Pitt to say they won that game? They would have with Pickett, so yeah eff those teammates that got me here. Still selfish and if all these games were meaningless, how can they financially put them on if no one is watching or there was no advertising support? They don't put bowl games on to lose money and if they are "meaningless" why don't all the players just opt out? Obviously nobody is forcing them to play

I wouldn't have noticed he's alive but i'm sure that there are scouts that would have

Sure, because he PLAYED.So one injury vs a really good look by scouts to see a player play vs decent competition, not the podunk backwoods non competitive teams in his own league. For some this is their chance to get noticed. At least he didn't quit on his teammates

I'm pretty sure if he was a prospect scouts had noticed him long before a bowl game

Why bother playing the last 3 games of the year if you already have your league won? Just opt out/forfeit them. That way, nobody gets hurt and no need to go to a bowl game. Just play enough to win your league and pack up the tent
