Pity Goodwin opted out.I'd rather see him in than Jjaw(or pick about anyone else)

When they selected Jjaw,I was like "who dat"??? Now we know why lol

Oh well, the machine is broken with all the missing cogs,so I hope we get some back.So now once again we are in the position of we can't lose anyone at ALL.We have no adequate BU at LT,RT,RG.it's a mess out there

They gave up three sacks and numerous hits in the first quarter. The offense did well in spite of the offensive line, not because of it. And they never developed a running game, which hurt them later on.

And at least 1 of those sacks could have been avoided by Wentz and the fact we kept trying to take deep shots and deep running routes with our OL did no favors

JJAW is the kind of receiver who doesn't need to be wide open. He can outjump guys and use his size to create a throwing window. But there needs to be a level of trust between the QB and the WR that apparently doesn't exist right now.

When he played in a preseason game with McCown last year, he was targeted a lot because McCown knew where to put the ball where he could get it. But for some reason Wentz doesn't feel comfortable making those throws.

The strange thing is that the throws that were intercepted were ones that Wentz would have been better off throwing to JJ, since those are the ones where he has a huge advantage over the corner.

It requires trust with a WR like JJaw... Wentz and JJaw just don’t seem to have it. you have to be willing to toss him some more or less 50/50 balls.

My bad I didn’t finish reading your post where you mention trust also lol

But Wentz doesn’t seem to be that type of Qb seems to be why Alston and Wentz have a bit of a falling out. Especially when Alston played with Foles who was willing to toss it up and give him a chance at a play

It's one reason I don't mind having Ward out there and why I wouldn't mind extending Ertz. Wentz is the QB, so we may as well put the guys on the field he likes throwing to and get rid of the guys he doesn't.

Ward will always be cheap, and Reagor is the DJax replacement for the two or three bombs he is going to throw each game. So our offense is pretty much set with Ertz and Goedert. But the coaches seemed determined to put JJ on the field, just like they did last year with Hollins.

I think Reagor can truly be a complete WR I loved reactor coming out

I truly think JJaw can be a good player but him and the QB have to be on the same page

WHoa. Talking draft for next year already? No. No. No. my friend. One bad game. Lets see what happens.

The injuries are brutal! Reminds me of ARs last season.
Wentz will learn from his poor play. Coaches will scheme up some new stuff to help the OLine.....let’s hope.

Hightower was a one trick pony here at Boise State. Time will tell if he can become a complete WR. I WAS NOT impressed on Sunday.

JJJAW is soooooo slow out of breaks that he simply doesn't get any separation. No good.

DJax, so much hoopla and he hardly plays? Huh? What are they saving him for?
It's sad that I lost a lot of hope after one game...but it was such a bad loss with lots of key injuries besides the ones they already have, ugg!Sigh!

I have the thoughts running through my head if it’s just too much with all these injuries. I really am considering it being time to trade off some of these contracts and get the future money right. We got ourselves locked in to the wrong team right now. Too many bad draft picks also. Might be time to trade Ertz, Jeffrey....whomever. The best part of bailing early is we could look forward to high draft picks. That’s what we need. Give us the infusion of top ten picks in each round. Add some firepower via trading expensive older players.

This offseason has been a mess, and the team was clearly not ready for week one. That being said, I think this is still a quality football team. We just have to be prepared to deal with the growing pains of playing a lot of new players due to injuries.

For example, Washington didn't get a ton of pressure from their dline Sunday. They just took advantage of the fact that we were horrible at picking up blitzes. That is something that can be fixed with the young guys getting more experienced. Plus, we should have adjusted to get the ball out quicker to hot routes. But that takes receivers being able to adjust, and we have young guys at those positions as well. These are fixable problems.

On defense, we played well against a bad offense. This week we will get a slightly sterner test in LA. I was originally down on Avery and Riley, but both guys graded out well by PFF. Gerry was average. Mills, in a new position, was slightly above Gerry. So that is a positive sign. If we can get average play by our LBs, above average play by our defensive backs and really good play from Sweat, Cox and Jackson (plus decent play from the backup dlinemen like Avery, Ridgeway, et al) that is a winning combination.

I think there is a tendency to overreact after a loss, and I am guilty of that. But the test if a team isn't how they look after week one, but whether or not they improve. This isn't college. We didn't get knocked out of the Rose Bowl with Sunday's loss. The team just has to move on and get better, and fix the mistakes.

As Joe argued(correctly) with a 17 point lead, you throw the ball away and let your punter pin them back.Going backwards is not much of a game plan lol.And I will say it.Wentz is by far the better QB over Foles, but what Foles was excellent at was "game management".Wentz needs to get a clue and SOON

Coaches know Foles isn't as good... they call runs. It's why people always assume the lesser QB is a better game manager... big part due to coach calling it that way.

LOL,I just saw the holes we had and was messing with "what ifs".Seriously I am looking at a 6 win season this year.Game 1 and teams already know how to take us down-not good

Yes trade all those guys for more bad draft picks lmao. How are are "high draft picks" coming along. This is why we are free agent fairies. We can't draft, nor develop anyone who is not a TE.Sanders is good, outside of him who else? Jury out on Reagor since he just got here.Since 2017,we can't keep anyone on the field

Here is my point.I want someone to name QUALITY/game ready BU's behind JP? Lane? Sanders? Kelce? Barnett? We've had 3 years since the SB win and we have ZIP waiting in the wings(you can argue Dillweed, but he has yet to prove to me he can stay in a season). This is pathetic to me

Idk... which NFL team would you say has multiple quality backup OL?

Why is it complicated.  Up 17-0 ...run the ball.  Get in the locker room up minimal 17-0.  They aren't moving the ball.  Don't open up the possibility of bad things happening.   Back up this and that... big issue is the coach here. And QB also not just avoiding dumb stuff.  No need to " stay aggressive" when the other team shows zero signs of being able to score a point, and would have to score 3 times in the second half.  Let's not make it complicated here. Don't need to look past Doug and Wentz here.

Tough sledding when A)your O line cant open a running lane to save their souls and B) all you have is a lightweight scat back and a (now) DUD in Clement(aka no adequate BU there either)

fact remains they practiced with JP at RG because thats what they signed him to do,so would you not practice that?????

Barnett and Dillard,so far 2 wasted draft picks. They are useless in the mash unit

Who recovered the fumble in the superbowl... the wasted draft pick?

IDK we have 2 burners.Hike the ball and throw a rainbow if you have no Oline. We got this speed to do just that, but didn't utilize it.The O was doing well before I dozed off,and if Wentz throws a pick,we just collapse as a team? Better get used to adversity guys

While the injuries obviously suck, I am somewhat looking forward to seeing Joe Ostman on the field this week. I imagine he gets promoted when Curry goes to IR. He doesn't have the build to be a defensive end, short arms, short legs, squat frame, but he is freakishly strong with a relentless attitude.

Avery grading well by PFF was surprising to me. I am looking forward to seeing what Ostman and Toohill can give us, as they will all likely play a lot if Graham and Barnett can't go. DE is either a glaring need or a position we are fine at depending on how the young guys do. This team needs some things to go right, and Ostman, Toohill and Avery being good would be a great step in the right direction.

I don't think it's " deep " shots.  It's all intermediate routes that get clogged.  If it were deep routes he could have just made the deep overthrow... the intermediate ones are harder to throw away because it's a clogged field.   It's long developing routes, but not so much deep IMO.

Even tougher when your coach won't call running plays ... watch on the drive where they went up tempo in the 3rd Q and Wash calls timeout... pass instead of run...the my favorite run on 2nd and 10... then the sack before the missed FG.  Why stop running?   Again it's all fluff and effects..  the cause starts with Doug. Wentz right afterwards.
