We see now how its like without Curry and Graham on paper

Never doubted Barnett needed to step up been saying it also.... Curry an after thought to me. Sweat I’ve hyped on for awhile and he honestly put together a good game one of the few bright spots for the team.

Fact is when you going to your 4th 5th 6th DE how many teams have that great of depth

And it’s not just DE when your on your 3rd and 4th strong guys how many teams truly have that deep a roster????

It was like we played well, then we made ONE mistake and the whole team started to panic, which led to more bonehead plays. We needed to suck up our mistake and carry on.Instead we hit the panic button and it cost us that game. One mistake led to a landslide of errors. That is not professional

Because of the timing of the mistake.  Defense got off the field with 1:40 left in the half ... pitching a shutout.  The shutout is a big mental hurdle.  You go to the bench thinking worst case if we need to go back out on the field, they will be buried deep in their side of the field with barely any time left.  Instead, a play later you go back out there  and they are already in scoring position?

Then it snowballs... now you are up 10 instead of 17 .. and they have some confidence now because they got off the ZERO.   Now you add Doug going for it on 4th down and giving them the ball again on our half... twice... plus another pick sttting up a a score ..and a 5th score set up with our offense going backwards 16 yards before the punt doesn;t make it across midfield.

The first mistake was so huge, because being up 3 scores is big ... plus the opponent still having to get off of the ZERO is also big.  One play basically brought them within 2 scores and put them on the board.    Add the fact that we were getting the ball first in the second half which would have shortened the game for them while being down 3 scores.... and still having to get off the ZERO.

YEAH ... that whole scenario around the one mistake was huge!  Any time you give the opponent life... its the biggest mistake you can make in a game.  Anything that follows is a result of that initial bad path that was chosen with the bad play call/ throw/ INT.

I don't know who remembers this game... but back in 1991 when we had that All time great defense that was #1 vs both the run and pass.... 5 pro bowls players.... White, Brown, Simmons, Joyner, Allen ... and a case for a few more with Evans, Hopkins ...and another above average group of Ben Smith, Willie Thomas and Andre Waters ... with a solid Mike Pitts and Mike Golic rotating in at DT.

But we played Tampa that year... with Brad Gabel or however you spell it... we couldn't move the ball at all... yet our defense probably dominated a game more than I have even seen as a fan.  Tampa couldn't move the ball an inch.   We were up like 6-0 or something... finally our punter shanked a punt... like his 15th for the day.. Gave them the ball like on our 10 yard line.  They scored a TD and won the game.  Might not have have 100 yards of offense, yet one score and beat us.

The play call/ INT at the end of the half, reminded me of the shanked punt.   Except, we had to punt it... we didn't need to throw it... makes no sense to put your team in a position where the risk doesn't math the reward.  Run the ball!     In that Tampa game back in 1991.  If the punt made it out to the 40 yard line, no way Tampa scores.  Too big of a mental hurdle knowing you have been dominated by the opponent all day.  That's where Washington was before the INT.  Just brutal, the more I write and think about it the more it annoys me.  Like I said, if it was 34-17 then I get to focus on trying to score... but man you gotta always try to give your D the opportunity to pitch the shutout.  Up 3 scores, your QB getting hit every pass play... just protect the QB and let your defense lose their shutout due to their own merit.

Man, for those of you locals that watch Seth Joyner on the post game show get angry ... I remember him FUMING in the locker room after that loss, during interviews.   The interviews were in the locker room those days, not out on the podium like today with the love fest.    It's why that team and Buddy was so loved... they pulled no punches or any of the BS you hear in post game shows today, when they sucked, they would tell you they sucked and you could tell they meant it.  No " gotta do a beder job dare"

Just looked it up ... October 6, 1991.   Tampa wins 14-13.

Eagles score 2 FGs... and Seth Joyner scored the only TD on defense.

Tampa rushes 22 times for 60 yards     Chris Chandler passes  12 for 29 for 157 yards .. 2 short TDs.... but also 3 INTS.

WE had he ball 38:48... got only 12 first downs.

Tampa had 6 turnovers.....  our D got 6 turnovers (forced 5 fumbles, recovered 3).. scored a defensive TD ...gave up only 193 yards .... and lost.

Because our O was brutal ... 171 total yards  in almost 39 minutes of possession.   10 penalties

But the shank on the punt at the end was it.  This is what Sunday felt like to me at the moment of the INT.  a big WTF moment turning a dominant performance with our beat up team... into a ball game all of a sudden.  Very similar feel because of the injuries to both that 1991 team and this year... just get out the game as fast as you can.  The QB was getting killed regardless of the score.... Washington couldn't throw down field.    Just ride the lifeboat to shore and keep your QB healthy was all that was needed.   Ride the defense.   Flashbacks for me after that play on Sunday.  Very frustrating because back in 1991 it was a mistake at the end, Tampa scores and game over... this was like a whole half of football where I knew it was coming and was torture saying " why"  the whole time watching the wheels fall off.

Big picture, good to be angry watching football after these past 6 months.   Bringing back some normalcy at least!

Most don't need the depth, they have players that can play.We have more injuries consistently than anyone else I know.Wondering why that is. For Philly being a town with a rep for fighting,we sure are wimps.Week 1 showed me that.Instead of playing harder to offset the mistakes, they just did more stupid things and didn't perform.I stated before the game "we could easily lose this" I'm sorry I was right, but if we're only gonna play 30 minutes, like we started out doing last year,we aren't going anywhere. This was evident last year to me also. We end up being ok around week 5-6,but we have motivational problems at the start of the season and it's becoming annoying. This game was weird, because usually we come out flat for the first 1/2,then decide to play the second. This was in reverse of normal.OK 93, I will stop about this loss now,but this is pissing me off to no end.So who would ever have predicted the no name team at 1-0 and the rest of the entire division at 0-1.Unbelievable.I hope the Rams don't kick our a** TOO bad

"In short, Eagles vs Rams is going to be a spectacular game. Why? First of all, it’s because Philadelphia Eagles have won every single game against Los Angeles Rams since 2004!" Off a Vegas odds site. We are favored by 3.I don't see it.I hope there are no cardboard cut out fights in the Linc stands-pathetic

WE are underdog, so Doug will coach with less cockiness.  Usually that works for us.    I don;t think motivation at all... I still think anyone watching that game saw the boat leaking even with a 17 point lead.   On offense that is.   The D was strong and once they came off the field with under 2:00 left in the half, we should have just put it on them to give a worst case scenario ... 17-0 lead after punting the ball back to them early 3rd Q deep on their side.  Make Washington create their own momentum.   It's really not hard, you gotta have a feel for the game that stats don't really tell you.  Wash was not ready to take that game on their own... but any team can take it if you make the first step by giving it to them.  Don't be cocky with the players that were on your offense. use the circumstances to your favor.

Betting line is Eagles -3(that means you are favored from the site I was on).

Neighbor told me today ... its started Eagles minus 4 .... now plus 1.  Regardless... the home field 3 points... the feel for this game is they are the underdog.

Yeah it will keep changing.probably a knee jerk reaction to getting Sanders back, but he can't do this alone

I thought that stat about no loss to them since 2004 was interesting. That streak could end this week 😞

IDK how you can say "home field" advantage with cardboard fans.Sorry,it's not the same

Well... they do need to travel all the way across country.

This goes for more then just Pryor in my eyes even to Mailata I’m not saying whether he is good or bad but fact remains we preferred a rookie over him that is major concern to me.

If for whatever reasons the staff doesn’t have faith in guys like Pryor and Mailata to play now over rookies guys who never played a snap before why keep them around.

Mailata looked solid to me once he took over for Driscoll.yet, I read how great Driscoll was though Mailata only had 1 pressure. This problem went on last season where Carson ended the season without ANY receivers on his team getting over 500 yds what we got is politics in the locker room lol.hehehehehe. Put the best players in a position to win  games. Stop with the BS...Doug. Get the Young guys playing maybe we won't continue to have half the starters injured .

Sounds like Doug backed Driscoll to stay the backup RT

Doug didn’t give the same backing to Herbig.... Would image Pryor or even the new guy Brown will get the start this week

Sounding like good chance all 3 key injuries will be ready for the Rams Lane, Sanders, Barnett.

Should the Eagles look to trade Ertz I know sounds crazy.

Minus the fact Ertz wants a new deal and talks seem to have stalled and got heated.

We have Goedart in the wings on top of that moving Ertz could have a similar effect as when the Saints traded Jimmy Graham. The logic was that Peyton wanted Brees to spread the ball around more and not focus as much on Graham. Wentz has a similar issue he focuses a ton of Ertz easily his most targeted player.

I don't know what Pryor did, but it sounds like he will never play for us again unless he's the last man standing.

I think he's behind Opeta at this point as well.

No clue either but if that is the case we might as well move on from Pryor sadly I feel the same way for Mailata doesn’t seem like we will give him a real chance

Mailata seem like a Greg ward situation he will only get a real chance if we basically forced to give him a chance by massive string of injuries.
I mean right now he behind Driscoll a rookie RT

Mailata has the advantage of being a physical freak of nature. I think he's the only legit option at LT right now behind Peters.

I don't know what happened with Pryor. Personally I think we win Sunday if Pryor and Mailata had started. I also think the coaches are being too stubborn in not admitting they were wrong. There is no way Herbig is better than Pryor, and no way that the new guy or Opeta is better as well.

I don’t think they will start Mailata even if Peters get hurt he actually never got reps at LT even during camp he was practicing at RT and then we opted for Driscoll over him he clearly isn’t in favor either for whatever reason

I don’t disagree with this but for whatever reason we are not favoring Pryor and Mailata

Even now it sounds like Jamon Brown has a strong chance to start this week and we just signed him off a PS

Some good news.
