Joe love your simplicity but plenty teams 2 score lead you know down 9-10 isn’t some out of reach game for us it could easily be that

100%.   The challenge is on both sides of the ball.   For me, the key is our ability to pass the ball and our ability to stop a good offense.    I don't expect to just dominate running the ball, that doesn't happen vs good teams.  I think keeping it close is essential,  not for us running the ball... but because it will be tough to defend Brady and Co. if they have a lead and start milking clock.

Reagor is suiting up every game LOL. If I can get a round 1 talent in late 2 what have I lost?(nothing). I thought you wanted to plan for the future? The future is longer than 1 year

I think most teams don't want to fall behind big in the first half.   It's a pretty good strategy in every sport not to fall behind at half time.

Yet most teams choose to take the ball in the second half if they win the toss.

If we get a lead though….we also could be good at milking some clock.

Which is the smart play

Correct... and to get a lead... the simple concept...you have to score more points than the other team.  So you have to perform on both sides of the ball.

For you GB!

Pointing out that the biggest concerns aren’t necessarily on scoring in the first half. If so teams would take the ball first.

So don't draft anyone then because they are all rookies. Makes no sense at all. He can't grow year 2? Then why did we hang on to Jones,Hollins, Jjaw etc???? If I offered you a Porsche for Ford money but you had to wait a year to drive it you wouldn't buy it?

TY!!! yeah really a bad pick(again) LOL JJ is in the pro bowl, but what do I know?

https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/big-boards/2022/consensus-big-board-2022  Nope,I take Gardner before I take Linderbaum ALL day. BTW if they think Howie takes 2 LB's they need their heads examined. Be lucky if he takes ONE-not happening try again people LOL

Jones also a contributor. They didn't perform here, so really makes no difference to me now where they went. Nice that we put our effort in for someone else's benefit. Still to Hams point we kept them more than a year???? If I find a round 1 talent(this is why Jones is contributing now?) and I can get him in late 2 knowing he may not be a starter for a year or maybe miss 1/2  a season I should pass???? We took the chance on Jones(round 1 who fell into 2) and Hollins who was hurt yet we kept him around for ages, and it's not like we're booting Reagor out of town tomorrow(although I wouldn't mind much Ward can play) so isn't there time? I'm not suggesting we use a round 1 pick on him, but we're going to need talent farther beyond 1 year,so why not get it in here while we have the chance? it's not like all our round 2 picks have been stellar. if we don't take the chance someone else will I'm sure

That's my point as well. Why the hell do these players fail here then go elsewhere and become contrubutors?

On defense, not too hard to discern. Howie and Lurie don't seem to grasp defensive talent. We've seen that time and again. DC's are not MAGICIANS. How many DB's play elsewhere?(like douglas?) Howie got Slay and he thinks 1 guy will change the whole defense. Love Slay, but he can't do it all. Both Schwartz and Gannon now were/are expected to have a great defense without the talent. I have to commend both of these men for at least having middle of the road defenses using Howie's' barrel scraped players. This next draft is the first in a long while where we can infuse the talent we always lack, but the ongoing risk is Hoiwe has no clue about defensive players. We've seen him ignore LB for a decade. He will take CB's only if the BPA decision is even too hard for him to pass. I have no clue what changed that caused him to get Slay, but now he needs to give him support(just like he failed to give Wentz support). So this draft will be important for me to see if Howie really knows what he's doing. We can't rely on "luck" anymore and this draft is one of the best I have seen for defense. On the offensive side we have seen Siri develop. he still has a long way to go. I think Siri woke up mid season.I think he was trying to cater to Hurts rather than developing him into a pro QB. That is the danger of a rook coaching a rook. It took too long in my view for Siri to decide he was indeed "the boss". I have seen this in other places where a new boss comes in and does what the employees want instead of taking the reins right off. It happens and I'm glad Siri woke up. The college offense belongs in college not in the NFL. Although Hurts may not be the top QB we all want, his growth actually began midseason when the decision was made to toss out the college offense. We still see remnants of it and most teams use the RPO to some degree, but he didn't start developing as a passer until that change was made. That decision(maybe this was the cause for the change?) stopped the many "illegal linemen downfield" calls. So now the real growth has begun. Hurts will never be the gunslinger like Wentz was, but he can grow and I personally have seen a little(and stated so). Now he needs to continue because we have nice offensive weapons. I still want a few replaced, but it's not a terrible group by any means. So the easy schedule gave this team confidence. Now reality sets in, and we will see if that confidence is shaken. getting this far will be a nice booster going into next year and we need to draft the future and Howie needs to get his head out of his arse and A) get that last outside guy) and B) buck "history" and make the calls needed on defense. These coaches aren't magicians and Howie needs to step up his draft game and STOP overruling the staff under him(or why do you employ them?) I remember the guy who didn't fist bump Howie. Why did you hire him for his opinions then just blow those off??? Until Howie trusts someone besides Howie the "great", it will be hard to get back to the SB. Howie took a year to "learn" to be a "football guy" but we all know it takes many years to be that. He needs more training if he wants to be more effective, but that call is on Lurie. So we wanted a young team and we are still transitioning to that and we can finish alot of the job in one draft. but it has to be the right players. Taking Reagor over PRO BOWL JJ was another in a  series of Howie screw ups. Maybe Reagor goes on to have a nice career somewhere else, but his uncaring attitude really put him on my S list. He's been here long enough, and if the coaches can't change attitudes, those players need to go(like why AB is always on the move all over the league). Smith has a great outlook and we need that matched on the other side. Everyone tries hard, but on defense they are simply overmatched. Let's fix that!!!!! Rant over

I lied-more rant LOL. So I can be bashed for my personal principles, but I can't force my principles on anyone or this team(and I doubt they care what I think). So I know Stine will disagree and that is fine, but If I am drafting, my first 2 targets are Gardner at CB and Burks at WR. I am fairly decent at WR's and RB's, but will defer to the rest of this board on defense. I know there are guys I like, but many on here are much better than I am. For me round 1 pick 3 has to be a LB. I will let you argue over who that is. If Burks is not taken then a WR must be taken in round 2(IMO), but I feel Burks is the missing offensive piece (big Alshon type possession guy).We still need too many pieces and a DE and DT should be taken in the first 3 rounds. So the position we are in is we need 6 players with 5 picks,so one has to be back burnered.I was fairly happy seeing the BU O line guys play well,we could probably add depth there in round 4. I also assume a few of the stated positions will be had in FA which is all a big? Perhaps some on here are right and we take a FA WR. I would prefer to avoid that as it seems we have the pipeline started and I don't want to go back to paying big money to WR's. S is slso another need(that 6 position we need) If I had my choice S and some linemen would be my FA choices

Hicks is doing great. Douglas seems to have made a home in Gb. The list goes on and on......

yeah IDK why we have this development issue, but' it's an ongoing concern

I guess my point is, if we DON'T take a WR round 1 and the bama WR falls into 2 because of the injury, I would still take him there. We would not get WORSE at WR by doing so, we still have Reagor even though he is not the guy I want there. In fact this could be a better idea since we have so many needs yet and this team is growing. I suppose all that would need to be decided on the kids medicals before draft day,but someone will take a chance on him. I was wondering if there are stats on injured WR's who come back to 100% and what % never do. Analytics lol. I would classify Williams as "delayed talent infusion" lol

BTW before we spend loot on a FA WR I want to see Hurts spreading the ball around more to validate that expenditure. I suppose Reagor has had his share of targets and could do nothing with them and why I would like him replaced. I have not checked the target share data(I'm too lazy lol)

I would not move for Burks, but if he is there when we pick I would have to pull that trigger. He is the missing big target Alshon type. A nice asset to have inside the RZ and if he pans out as I believe he will our WR corps for the future is pretty well set. I like Ward, I suspect we could upgrade the other BU's with a late WR selection, but may not be necessary if we kept Reagor on as a rotational piece/St'er. I believe Reagor needs to fight to earn his starting job back if he wants it. Gardner and Burks are my first 2 targets,if I miss on Burks I would take Williams in 2(deferred talent infusion). I am also liking 93's trade back scenario alot better now. Since we have 4 picks in 2 rounds with a need for 6 "fills" that would at least get us 5/6 of the needed pieces. I would assume the 6th piece gets filled in FA whatever position that may be

If we had drafted JJ instead of Reagor, we wouldn't be having a WR discussion

Hicks was just injury concern, never a talent thing IMO.    Douglass, he's doing the same as he did here... he makes a play on short balls, great hands so he gets INTs... then he gets burned in coverage.    We see the big plays when it's from another team.... not the every play stuff.

Or Kupp or Metcalfe.
