I am not so sure I agree, based on his stats. HIs QBR differs from your assessment. Plus the Eagles O-Line is better than SF's. Not to mention SF plays against The Best DT in the league twice a season. OK, so if you feel he is not worth a first, maybe Howie gets him for a 2nd plus a conditional next year based on playing time.

In any event, Jimmy is heads above what we have now. I am willing to roll with him for 2-3 years while we build up in other areas.

What about based on when you watch him?  Without reading things.  What do your eyes see?

What is telling to me... you just bring this up now.  Seems like you read something that influenced you here.

SF giving up all that to get another guy should be telling.  And watching him play this year, that's even more telling.

He throws less interceptions than Derek Carr does, yet we are thinking about getting him.....

Who is thinking of getting Carr?   I'm not.

OK, I am just bringing him up as an option. Whether or not he is worth a 1st 2nd or 3rd or whatever is up to the GM's. As good or bad as he played, they won over 70 % of his starts, He is better than what we have now. Heck, I would bring in Fitzpatrick for a year instead of rolling with who we have now. What I don't want to do is package 3 first round picks for anyone.

SF gave up all that in a hope and a prayer as Lance is completely potential based. Not like they gave up all those picks for Trevor.

I absolutely would. Rather give up three firsts for Carr than one for G.

Right...I don't want to give up anything.  Hurts and Minshew for next year...just build the rest of the roster.   The team has a long way to go.

I am open to all options that will allow us to keep 2 first round picks this year plus at least our second and next years first... We need to rebuild the defense and we do not have the Cap space most think we do....

We need all the draft picks we can get AND to HAND pick the FA's we acquire. 2-3 of those nailed would go a long way because we all know draftees are for the most part crap shoots. We have a rare opportunity here and Howie CANNOT blow this. We can get 4-5(with trade back) super talents in here. My fear is Howie whiffs and ignores the top talent defensive players in the draft. I can see us gifting everyone that draft behind us(shades of the Vikes war room erupting when we took reagor LOL). I bet teams LOVE picking right AFTER us lol

I believe we have a league record of first "playoff" team to have 3 round 1 picks

Like I get it.  Our current QB situation is not good.  If we were a QB away from seriously competing, then I would consider all these moves for decent QBs.   But reality is we are no where near a serious competitor.  And we have aging stars.   Gotta get off the hamster wheel... just build through draft and if we find a core piece in FA.   You can wait on QB and set it up for a long term run.

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/green-bay-packers/kevin-king-21774/stats-valuation/   Seems GB reduced this kids playing time this year. He's still young, could be a cheap addition at CB(draft one as well) but could take some pressure off having to draft one in round 1

There is always the idea of just shooting your shot in the draft. Instead of trading with three first round picks we could just take a stab each year. Last year it could have been on Fields or Jones. This year maybe on Strong.

Douglas has outplayed this dude. My wife thinks King Stinks. So not sure he is the answer

Does he "stink" worse that what we have? We know Slay isnt going anywhere. He played alot previous to this season and he's CHEAP

I just do not want us to sit pat or trade away 3 picks for anyone. if Not Jimmy, then just look for a one year sit in. Not sure if Fitz has any juice left in his tanks, but he is probably much better than what we have lol.... Anyway, We will sit and wait...... I want Defense 3 of the first 4 picks,

I watch allot of GB games, but not when the Eagles are also playing. My wife watches all GB games and says he constantly gets beat or cause a Int penalty... But I liked him out of college... Maybe a change of scenery will be good for him?

We HAVE 2 1 year sit ins in Hurts and Shew

Only question I ever ask is"will he improve the overall group position" This also applies to non starters,is he better than what we have as a room group? That is all I need to know

Yes I said this before when you argued with me. Now you see what I have, that WR is a NEED,so I agree

if the answer to that question is yes,how much am I willing to give to get him. Those 2 decisions decide who I get and who I don't or can't get

IDK it just seems he was playing for them 2 years. maybe Douglas is a better fit(obviously he is),but the fact they signed him another year despite not playing him tells me something or he would have been released. I mean, what 5 million for 6 games is alot to give. If he was that bad it's hard for me to believe GB would spend 5 million

What do you plan to do with Fitz type move?   What would be the purpose?  What does it do to increase the chances of bringing a SB here.   Stand pat, that means you use zero picks or cap space now...and save it for later.

You invest in Carr and Jimmy G...who play on much better teams at the moment... what does it do here?

I get it, Hurts is bad and you want to make a change. But change just for change doesn't do anything.  It's even worse if you give up assets, it could set you back.

In fact Stine, GB paid King more this year(most was signing bonus but still) than his previous 4 combined yet only played him 6 games. Seems rather weird to me

He has all those ‘measurables.’ Sometimes a change of scenery in a different scheme is needed.

I was just thinking he could be a nice fill piece. Even alot of round 1 CB's have things to learn. You are fortunate if you find an NFL ready one and he could always serve as a viable BU if we nailed a drafted CB. Plus you know Slay is not getting younger, and if he went down we could still field some type of secondary. So I was looking at options. Your wife could be totally correct, but we have long way to go before we sit viable players,so for a cheap price I just thought he could fill in either as a starter or BU. I feel he would overall improve the room which is my first criteria

Defense is not my strong suit,I will defer to others on here. Suffice to say he was a round 2 pick, but now has experience so IDK. BTW I would still draft one FWIW
