I gotta be honest.. if you have the 15th best QB, you should be able to compete in at least one out of the 8 games you played vs the decent teams.  We don't have the 15th best QB... that's simply wrong. If we did,  there would be zero talk of replacing him. It wouldn't be a conversation for a dude at this stage of his career.

He is below average at the 2 skills that make up 99% of a QBs job... find the guy to throw to, and make a good throw.  He does neither at even an average level.... he is a great runner.

Agenda everywhere. First you are counting week 18 game we sat the starters in. So we were supposed to compete in that game? Oh…yeah it’s week four vs the Chiefs. New coaches new schemes even plenty of new players. Chiefs been in the last couple SB. But we should be all over them.

We don’t have the 15th best WR room.

Dude... why do you bring up leader with Shew?    Is it because you want to avoid saying he just doesn't have the arm?  Because then it reflects back at Hurts?   Which football expert would concern himself about the leadership aspect of Shew?   It's hilarious... find one person that agrees with you on any of this??

It seems every GM in the NFL agrees with me. We gave up a sixth round pick for him. You always fail to understand how crucial intangibles can be.

Shew has a weaker arm than Hurts, yes. Getting pumped up and joking around isn’t exactly the environment we are looking for. We have been in learning mode. Trying to develop and grow these young players. Young staff. We need a more serious workmanlike…ughhhh….work place. You know? We are trying to be a younger harder working underdog team. Trying to implement as much as we can. Took everybodies favorite to interview for HC until after the first half of the season to get a Dime defense going. Big list of tough QBs we faced that liked to throw the ball in that earlier schedule.

I’ve heard nothing but a whole team backing and believing in Jalen as QB1. He’s needs to improve. But he’s a leader. He works hard. Builds up his teammates. Isn’t some Primma Donna type. Got a bunch of young guys that came to work. I believe we’ll really benefit from a professional atmosphere.

Hurts is looking better than this whole 2021 class has. Looks better than this whole upcoming class of QBs.

Many complained heavily about Hurts 52 percent completion percentage. He brought it up to 61 percent this season.

Not going for or against either QB on this note, but have to say I learn just as well if not better while having fun.

Cunningham, I actually agree with you that Hurts has some leadership qualities and that teammates even rally around him. That "intangible” is good, even great, but it does not make up for lack of talent at the position. The playoff game showcased Hurts’ lack of talent for all to see. I read one of your posts that said something to the effect that the Eagles stopped running up the middle or didn’t run up the middle enough. If you cant get first downs running or passing, you wont get many TOTAL plays in the game. Recognize the Eagles ran 11 plays by the time it was 14-0! 3 and out. 5 plays with a 1st down awarded by a Bucs’ penalty. Another 3 and out. Eagles tried to run. Couldnt do it, NOT because of the OLine. It was Because the Bucs put 8 in the box and said "beat us passing”…which Hurts could not do.

So, you get hired to be the D coordinator and now face the Eagles. How would you play defense against them?

Next, if the opponent sucks and can’t get first downs, you don’t fall behind quickly. And EVEN if you don’t get first downs for a few drives, it doesn’t kill you because it is a punt fest by two sucky teams. Hence, why the Eagles beat the m idgets with their 3rd string QB and the Skins with backups.

That doesn’t mean that Hurts cant do anything. But his LACK OF TALENT will make it a struggle for him to lead the offense to beat GOOD offensive teams.

I don’t hate Hurts. He seems like a decent young man and says the right things. That wont win games vs good teams. Eagles could not score WHEN the game was in doubt vs good teams this season. They got their points towards the end of games when the outcome was already or mostly determined.

If they don’t see a better option, we will see more of the same next year…able to beat bad offensive teams and wont be able to compete vs the good ones.

We ran twelve and thirteen personnel more than anybody. What are you going to have six DBs out there against our three TEs? Seven and eight in the box I’d say would be normal defensively. Now most offensive minds prefer eleven personnel dominating the league for what seems decades now. Or can you actually wrap your head around ten personnel? Four WR sets. Imagine that. Did anybody have eight men in the box against our four WR sets?

First three and out we had third and two. Ran the option out to the left I believe. TB snuffed it out for a loss. That was a bad playcall. Third and long a couple drives later and we threw the screen pass. Shut down. Whole team stunk in the playoff game including coaches. Hurts stunk. But it says something to me that not a single guy was playing great. We needed that road playoff experience. Crucial for this young coaching staff and these players. Their tasting defeat this offseason. But learned lessons and will grow from it. Hard learned lessons tend to stick.

But If I’m DC against Hurts I’m blitzing him on his throwing hand side and having a DE on the other work contain. Practically a generic statement about most any young QB I’ve ever seen really. Can Hurts learn and adapt….overcome? We’ll just have to wait and see on that one.

Your leader clowning and joking around all these young kids is a terrible example to have. Having fun….is kind if one thing. Being very serious about the NFL being a business and putting in the work can’t be underrated though. Day to day…..gotta go to work. That’s what we were up to this year. Now need it again. We need a quality learning environment to develop these kids. They are learning good habits to become professionals.

Ham, I can agree with this

I think we have a real hungry team

The against good teams comment doesn’t seem very fair to me. It’s so hard to judge things. We weren’t running the ball to start the season. We still had Ertz but weren’t running the multiple TE formations as much. Defense was super vanilla. Embarrassingly vanilla. Can we really fairly judge this team on their first half of the season vs tested SB contenders? Even this playoff game? We looked shell shocked. Weren’t ready for it. Cowboys were peaking when we first played them. TB and KC those were same guys that just played in the SB. Slight advantage to them on cohesion to say nothing about other factors. Niners…..Warner just really locked us down. But we didn’t have our identity yet. We had our Oline on the defensive pass blocking. Running the RPOs super super heavy. Reagor as number two WR.

They had us ranked as third best in the NFC East behind Dallas and Washington(obviously not the Gmen hahaha).

We had Mailata and Dickerson that could run block with the best of them. Mailata did get hurt a game and played hurt at RT. Dickerson struggled pass blocking early on. Started at RG. Then switched to LG. After no TC. Lane is a power run blocker. True RT. He missed those three games though. Had some lapses before he took the break for mental well being. Basically you had early Lane that was struggling with his issues. Then he broke away and skipped three games. Seemed to work his way back in shortly after that. Found the fire! RG went through the rinse cycle.

Hurts clearly improved as a passer. Just no doubt. Completion percentage and bad throws were heavy targets for haters on Hurts. He answered those. Obviously improving.
