Stine..  you should just say.... I don't think the Eagles will pick a good WR.  So I want them to miss on a lower pick, not round one.

That's legit and enough.    The argument over needs is irrelevant because we need everything. This idea of you need this more... you need everything to win... so any good player helps.  You are just expecting Agholor instead of Smith if it's round one... absolutely legit to feel that way.

No Joe, I am not even talking about the draft now. I am talking about the two weapons the two teams have. With the two QB's throwing them the ball. You think Hill and Kelce are heads and shoulders above Smith and Goedert  and I think that the two would have out performed the others if Mahomes was their QB....

I also did not say the Eagles would not pick a good WR! I said that this draft was a deep one for WR and that the Eagles could get a Metcalf type in round 2 if the scouting department did their job. Please read my posts!

You guys are stuck on posotion groups to draft. I’m trying to realize what kind of defensive schemes we’ll feature.

You will see that come September, any reason you need to know now?

Which one of the 2nd round WRs will be Metcalfe?  Which teams will pass on Metcalfe until pick 51?

Stine....  please . . Please don't attempt to say Smith and Goedert are close to Hill and Kelce.    Please,  that's 2 that you can say are the best at their positions... Smith stands out to Eagles fans because our bar is so low.  Goedert is a good all around TE... he doesn't change the game with his receiving how Kelce does.  Defenses have their whole schemes designed around stopping these guys.   Smith and Goedert don't get that attention yet.  Come on now.

Joe, I am no scout. But Metcalf went 61 so why should I think that the eagles could not find a WR as good in round 2 with a deeper WR draft class?

Why did he go 61?  Was it a talent thing?    Wasn't he supposed to be 1st round talent but had other issues?

Context matters...  this is why I'm not all about reading stats. ..there is context that gets lost.   There are reasons why things happen.

A good example...remember Nnamdi... his coverage #s were awesome..simply because teams threw at the other guy.   That's the context to where stats don't tell the story.   He comes here and people throw at him, and he sucks.  Context matters.

Hill is a elite WR but not the best at the position. I can name Hopkins, Adams, Chase, Kupp Lamb and Samuel are all better. I think Smith would be too if he had Mahomes tossing him the ball. You keep saying Goedert is a good all around TE. Tell me what his stats would be if Mahomes tossed him the ball. Much better than just good.

Again, That is why we pay the scouts. to do their homework and find that Metcalf guy in round two. We may trade back and obtain a better pick in round 2. Listen, what Howie does do well is obtain picks in the draft. I am hoping we get a top 10 pick in the 2nd round and an additional pick next year for one of our first rounders....

Who on this board feels Smith will not be as good as Hill? Yes he is not as fast. Heck Kupp is not either, but I would take Kupp any day over Hill. Joemas, I am willing to bet if you took a poll Smith wins.....

Don’t you think it’s important to who we sign and draft?

As long as their are dumb GMs out there drafting the JJAWs in two.

I agree.. I'm hoping to get a top 5 pick in round 2.  I'm looking at that as still a top pick and a player that needs to be a hit.     If make 3 good picks and get the asset of another 1st rounder from a weak team... that's repeat of last year.

With that said... if they draft a WR as part of that group,  I don't care where they do it. I just need a roster with some more young players for now. Positions don't really matter yet.   As they get better and the specific holes become what stops them from really competing, then they can address them.  Right now, BG makes the point, so many holes, really doesn't matter where they go at the moment.

Look at it this way... if you believe that one position is ok and the other was weak.  And regardless,  your team isn't winning right away.... then what's the difference if one position goes from ok to very good/ great and one stays fairly weak...vs the weak one getting a little better but the ok one staying there?

Either way there is additional work.  Does it matter if one way wins an extra game next year?  Who cares, the idea should be just looking at the finish line.  If at the end you need a WR and a CB vs needing 2 CBs...it's still 2 holes to finish.

Don’t think Metcalf had much production in college(stats).

If you are obsessed with predicting the picks, then maybe.  I'm ok seeing who we get first and then looking at possible scheme.

How about we poll non Homer fans.  Because some of these people think Miles Sanders is an elite RB.   Let's see what Smith brings... once he establishes himself as a legit player... then the next step is how he performs when he gets the attention of Hill.  Much like Kupp, Hill still produces while getting the attention from the opponent.   Goedert also has to get to that level to be close to Kelce.  It's his blocking that puts him closer,  not so much the receiving part that would help a young QB.

Your more ok with broad strokes like "draft Dline.” I much more interested in the intricacies of what we are up to on the defensive schemes heading forward. Seemed like we’ve mostly been pretty consistent about what we desire. Those rules have clearly changed under Gannon is my perception.

Right... I'm already anticipating a mix...3-4....4-3...etc..a mix of fronts.  Let's get in some good players and then let the game plan come.  You can watch and study the film for me. I'll check in later on this, when it matters.  Right now I'm all about getting good players in the draft...I'm not passing up LawrenceTaylor or Reggie White because of " scheme "  get the players and adjust accordingly.   That guy up in New England has done it successfully that way for the last 2 decades.

Eagles release Cox?

Didn't see that coming but he was a big drain on the cap number

This was setup with his last restructure.   I was expecting a trade... but we just had to make the playoff push last year..it was so important to the future of this team.   Once they get to this point, we know the Eagles like to give the players a release so they can go find their own deals.   Except for Ertz I guess.  Which was the PR disaster, that I don't see them making again.

Outside chance he comes back.... they could do it in a way that's less of a cap hit, even with the dead $$... but it will probably involve a 3 year commitment. My guess he goes elsewhere.

Cox got released saying the Eagles are working to bring him back on a new deal though…

I was actually thinking Bellicheat had done really well with those ‘tweener’ type guys.

Hill brings a whole factor with him. But yep I’m on the Cheetah side here. Smitty has to do it before I can put him anywhere near that level. What I saw is he got caught a bit by TB jamming him at the line. How bad an issue is this for The Slim Reaper? Easily coachable/ move him from X……somewhere in between.

Feels like spin doesn't it... so when he leaves...that greedy guy, we tried to bring him back.  But who knows???

You are more a commentator on hindsight. I do like to read how things are going and put myself out there on opinions if the unknown. Much more difficult….and much less safe.
