I'm not talking about tours and facilities...I'm talking about, a player gets drafted and they refuse to go there?   You've had Eli and Elway....2 guys knowing they were the #1 pick.    Free agency,  guys can pass up a little more money ...if we want a player and select him in the draft,  then he's ours.

Draft order is involved. Because you only can pick who is available. You can reasonably trade wherever you want. But some teams refuse to trade. If a guy refuses your invite to visit that’s a huge sign to not draft that player. Some guys I’m sure have even thrown the interviews at Combine, Bowls, wherever over preferences. These guys are early twenties year old. Some aren’t thinking very practical. Some are extremely on it and realize all too well the marketability they have in different markets. Going three spots later to a prime market for a player could help him financially much more. Like how nobody wanted to go to the Milwaukee Bucks. Such low visibility in a small market and great players don’t get the exposure of medium players on the big stage. Just reall evolved the whole process. Agents and players are so much further ahead of all these things today than they were twenty years ago.

Ham.... GB is complaining we didn't sign free agents.   I said the free agents can choose not to come here.   The draft is different. When we select a player, we have control.   Free agency we don't.

This is example of you taking a simple thing and trying to make it complicated.

You know….that’s probably fair. I was more commenting on one post more than your whole conversation. I like McLeod more than Harris. But you just knew the Gannon had history with Harris. Think he’s lost a step and is past his prime. Actually think this season McLeod should come in healthy and ready physically. McLeod is a intangible guy also. Seems like a great person and leader. I liked that we brought him in originally. Think McLeod is underrated on the field. With luck he could be really solid for three more seasons. Harris I believe will be targeted and exposed. He’s physical and a playmaker type. So hopefully he balances out his weaknesses by making plays. Think we’ll miss McLeods consistent solid leadership back there. Believe Harris is already going down physically. So think Harris is only a one year band aid. Haven’t seen the contract but would assume he’d cheap at least. Can’t get way far into composing about the vet S choices. Don’t feel like the whole master offseason plan has unfolded yet. Wanted Williams. Figured that was a dream. The Seattle guy would have upgraded Harris. Really thought Maye is a beast. Seeing his price and everything makes me think they screwed up not pulling him in. But maybe they have a guy in the draft. Most likely actually. So I’ll try and be patient before ripping everything up on this offseason plan until we see more(you know that’s very hard for me). Maye would have been so huge for us though. Harris is uninspiring. Guess Harris can fill multiple roles in the box is his benefit. But feel it’s a bit of wasted effort integrating Harris so much when I believe his career is ending. Rather take lumps with a/some young guys. Guess best case is having a proven vet and having a young guy have to beat him out for the job. Epps is ready. He looks more a deep FS type. So maybe that’s also a factor.

Just seems to me like the roster limit of 53 has always made depth difficult. So that’s why most DC try to do specific things instead of everything. Just don’t see how we can roster enough guys to make this super multiple defense idea fly. The idea of it sounds great. But I can’t really wrap my head around how you accomplish it. Having a bunch of DT for all styles is tough. Having DE depth and Rush LB is extremely taxing on money, draft ammo and roster space. Who wouldn’t want all that? Can it be implemented more than half a22 though? I have my doubts. Especially when I’ve noticed that offense needs more investment(more expensive in every way). I am very interested in being exposed to what Gannon can try. Can he confuse offenses or field a dominant D? He really had a shaky start. Feel like he needs to do much much better. Don’t think it was his idea of ideal personnel. Feel like every move this offseason on D will speak volumes about what he’s thinking are the solutions and chess pieces he ideally desires. Wasn’t thrilled with Harris. Wilson(can’t even hardly remember his name now) at LB was a massive fail in judgment on his part. Feel this we’re both his ideas. Liked him hired as DC. But feeling he’s been overrated so far.

Still think we have some FA work coming. Most any guys left out there their dream contracts aren’t coming. So these are the quality bargain days of FA. Feel we will add a couple guys on the cheap. Probably one year contract stuff.

Rosie likes to trade. He’s been looking into sone that haven’t worked out. Been moving some money around. We have big draft ammo. So…..just feels like he’s going to make a trade. He’s been looking really big so far with Ridley and Watson. Somebody surprising you us will be shaking loose ready to be traded I almost guarantee. Thought Robert Woods slipped by us. Not sure why we didn’t get him.

Ham, I get your all excited about free agency and this and that.    I'm not into it.  The biggest 3 days of this offseason are the draft.  That to me  is the top priority without a close 2nd.

I think there absolutely might be a trade, the cap space was cleared for something unless there is a new method of managing the salaries that I'm missing?

One more good draft, some additional moves put in place that can land us a rookie QB next draft.   We can set the foundation right where it needs to be and then these little nickel and dime free agent moves can really mean something.  Right now,is Harris vs McCloud worth the time?   What's the difference really?    In 2016, McCloud and Brooks at their ages were great additions.  Look what both moves did solidifying an OL from C to RT, possibly the best combo we will ever see there... and finishing the excellent safety tandem with Jenkins.     Right now, idk what a so so free agent move is going to do?   Ridley with Smith... now you are talking.  But other than that, we need more Smiths throughout the roster first.

Think your overthinking this to much.

Pass rushers- be it Reddick standing or his hand in the ground who cares as long as he can get to the QB same with the other guys. Sweat/Jackson/ Graham etc.

Run defenders- Graham is stout as it comes vs the run/ Sweat has been alright. Even have the luxury to be able to move Milton or Cox to DE if it’s that serious to stop the run on the edges.

DT- most 43 teams that I’ve seen generally have two types of DTs the bigger run defenders and the attacking guys. Hargrave literally was a NT before as was Timmy J. When we had him

LB- this is essentially only two positions in todays NFL rarely run 3 LBs anymore need the guys that can drop in coverage and tackle in space.

9 DL

4 traditional LBs

2 hybrid rush LBs guys that can stand and rush the passer or put there hand in the ground occasionally drop back ie Reddick maybe Johnson.
Leaves room for 9 DBs

That with 26 players on offense

Not the time to overpay. That’s what you do for that final piece….maybe two.

Well you can off a bit more than the other guy without going insane.

Wonder why we don’t look at a guy like Deshaun Elliott at S could be worth a flier. He is only 24.

Was hurt most of last year for the Ravens but in 2020 had 80 tackles 2.5 sacks

And still get turned down.

So tons of BIG moves and we are asleep as usual. I think Howie is afraid to spend cap money because he knows his back loaded contracts will use all that up over time(that's the only explanation I can come up with as to why we sit silently on the sidelines when we NEED SO MUCH) So,we re-signed some guys we had, which is fine but that doesn't IMPROVE a dang thing. I thought the point of rebuilding was to make your team better without making it worse. The re-signs don't make it worse, but we never addressed making it better with FA acquisitions which means Lurie is counting on Howie 100000000% for the draft. So, we were so busy with Howie's contract,we forgot to sign any FA players 😂. soon,we be able to walk and chew gum at the same time

Howie has something planned. No reason to cut Cox to save on cap without a move in mind. Keep that thought....

ATL taking trade offers for Matt Ryan… image Indy has to be interested in him.

Ryan get a 7.5m bonus if he stays on the roster by 4pm EST today so if he is dealt would image it happens today.

This has been a crazy off-season for QBs

Outside of Ryan now could still see Baker and Jimmy G be moved

Nine QB coaches have RSVPed to the Pro Day, where ’ top QB Kenny Pickett will be throwing: #Falcons, #Panthers, #Lions, #Saints, #Giants, #Eagles, #Seahawks, #Titans, #Commanders. Full coverage coming on !

Don’t think we draft Pickett but do think the Eagles will do a ton of research into all the QBs in this class

Gotta be who the Colts are going for. Don’t know what ATL can squeeze out of them. I think it could work for them. Kind of becoming the trend…..older QBs move on to win the Big Game two years in a row.

Ryan isn’t nearly as good as Stafford at this stage of his career and the Colts aren’t nearly as talented as the Rams.

Ryan will help them win just not sure he does enough to put them over the hump in a loaded AFC. But I do think the Colts are the most likely landing spot

Ryan is better than Stafford.

Maybe he was better then Stafford he isn’t now that for sure

This isn’t Ryan in his prime this is a 36 year old Ryan who didn’t look all that impressive last season and no I don’t want to hear about the Falcons roster when Stafford dealt with terrible Lions teams his entire career

I felt the opposite. Thought Stafford looked like he was near the end. Ryan still delivering.

41 tds and a SB with plenty of big time throws from Stafford…

This to go with 9tds and 3 ints in the playoffs.

Yea Stafford didn’t look remotely close to being near the end

Ryan hasn’t really looked elite since 2018 been good after that and still isn’t bad now but definitely it the same caliber QB.

don’t even think it’s debatable at this point in there careers I’d easily take Stafford over Ryan any day of the week

Can even look at the numbers if the eye test doesn’t work.

Stafford

2021- 4800 yards 41-17 td/int

2020- 4000 yards 26-10 td/int

2019- 8 games 2500 yards 19-5 td/int

Ryan

2021- 3900 yards 20-12 td/int

2020- 4500 yards 26-11

2019- 4400 yards 26-14
