Taylor has the speed to cover anybody on the field. He's faster than Mills, Wallace or Parks, by a wide margin. From a physical standpoint, he can do anything they can do, but better.

The problem is that he lacks experience. From my standpoint, there is only one way to solve that problem.

Can care less how fast he is in a straight line more concerned with how he changes directions how he flips his hips etc. it’s not just how fast you run in a straight line.... WRs rarely just run in a straight line especially at the position you want him to play at

Taylor slower then Mills in the 10 yards split so doesn’t pick up speed as fast, even in the 20 split... slower in the 3 cone and 20 yard shuttle so doesn’t change directions as well all aspects that need to be looked at not just his 40 is better at

This is also basing stuff off mills coming out of college odds are he is faster now then coming out

This is t to say Taylor can’t play the position or would not be good at it but these are legit concerns

Semaulo going to short term IR

It’s been two weeks with no preseason and smal offseason think bigger issue is Schwartz A. He might play favorites a bit B. He doesn’t seem to cater his scheme to fit the talent

WFT and the Rams had the same issues-no excuses

So he might return. In the interim, I'm sure Howie can find a soft PAC-12 cast-off to fill in.

Looking at the snap counts from yesterday:

At linebacker, Gerry played 100%, Riley played 71% and Edwards played 29%. Singleton and Bradley didn't play at all. Mills played 100% at SS, which in our defense is essentially a LB spot.

Here's the problem. Gerry and Bradham were our two primary LBs last year. Gerry is now in Bradham's spot, which he can't play. And Riley is in Gerry's spot, which he can't play. Riley was credited for one tackle. Edwards, playing in half the snaps,, was credited for 5 tackles.

Clearly Edwards should be our primary LB, taking over Bradham's role. I think Singleton is better than Gerry, and Bradley is probably just as good. So one of those guys should be the LB2, as Riley is useless. He was useless in Atlanta, which is why he was cut, and he's useless here.

As far as SS, Mills can't play that spot in our defense. He's too small. I would put Parks in there when he's healthy, or consider trying Taylor, who played it in college, or Wallace, who also played it in college.

Also, Strap only played a few snaps, and Robey-Coleman hasn't been great. So I would consider a switch there.

The bottom line is this. We all saw how bad Washington's offense was yesterday against the Cardinals, and how much better it looked against us. Yes, they started a lot of drives in our territory. But if they hadn't, does anyone really think we could have stopped them?

We may get a fool's gold performance against the Bengals, but that will delay the inevitable. The Eagles know that this is a bad defense, and they should make changes immediately, or else we aren't going to stop any competent offense.

And the changes are obvious. Riley needs to go. Gerry should either go back to his original spot (which he wasn't very good at) or go to the bench (where he belongs.) I wouldn't bench Mills now, but I would when Parks gets back. He's had his chance. Strap should split snaps with NRC.

Those are the changes I would make, as it's clear that if we don't do something, this defense will be bad all year.

This is an awesome run down. But you know what all this means right? We CANNOT DRAFT or develop the players we DO draft for the most part. That's why we HAVE to hit FA all the time,we have no pipelines for anything. There are zero good BU players waiting to "take their turn" at being starters.Hell the starters can't start lol. After 2017 players WANTED to come here, because then, not only were we SB champs, there was room to keep growing and improving and get those pipelines started. Some players chose here for LESS money because they thought there was a future here. And we F'd it all up(and we still are).Ped needs to treat Wentz just like he did Foles and call "game manager" plays.but the fact remains if we can't execute the simple plays,we aren't going anywhere

To the above I would make the exception at TE.We are good with those, but that's it and Duce is fine if you give him players to work with

opposing DCs know they can take the TEs away and this offense will grind to a halt because nobody else can get open thanks to bad drafting at WR

Here is a much simpler take.... The DL isn't very good anymore.  It's fighting to be adequate.  Which doesn't work in our scheme.    Seems like the topic of conversation was our DEs (Graham in particular) not containing Goff on the bootlegs.  Seems 8 times Graham allowed him to get outside.   The biggest issue to me.  your D starts with the DL stopping the run and putting pressure on the QB.   You flip it on offense, if you can establish the run and keep your QB clean it makes the game easier.   All the other stuff here you mentioned comes afterwards.

I know it's WAY early, but I am looking at draftees. I would like to have Alec Lindstrom from BC as a C draftee.Probably our round 3 pick, but we need line help almost everywhere.IDK how long Kelce will be here but we need to get a C groomed

How I feel right about now as a fan

A. Was directed to Mills changing positions and not rushing a change there and B. No excuses for how bad the D is as a whole.

I don’t tend to make rash decisions on guys like to see them given a fair shake.... Mills at S I’d look at him till Parks returns around week 4. Mills doesn’t improve then by all means make the switch. But he has only played S this year first year.

Bow Gerry and Riley they are on there 2nd and 3rd years at there spots they are not getting it down make the change. Try Edwsrds and singletary, Bradley whoever till we get something decent

Maddox is a tough not sure who we replace him with even if we want to make a change if he continues to struggle maybe give Williams a chance has some starting experience

This will never happen with Doug as our HC but with our team having all this speed and really no star WR. I would build this O on the ground game.

We have a pretty good OL still and Miles Sanders is a stud. Force teams to have to commit to stop him make the stack the box with 8-9 guys. And when they do hit them with the deep pass let Reagor/Djax be one on one in a foot race I like those odds can also use the play action more then.

I’m also still on board with the idea of trading Ertz. Force Doug to change up his play calling can’t rely on the 2 TEs as much and force Wentz to rely on new targets not Ertz.

On top of that Ertz doesn’t seem to be part of the long term plan and we seem unlikely to give him the deal he wants. Plus should still have good value possibly get a 2nd or 3rd rounder for him or even look for player to aid us maybe a LB

Lost Saquon for the year that tough one... Lucky me still have two stud RBs Aaron Jones and Miles Sanders

Got Swift(Lions) Singletary(Bills) as backups not overly thrill with them ok with Swift in a pinch PPR league and he seems to be Lions preferred receiving back been solid for 10+ points first two weeks

Aiming for chargers RB Kelley off waivers hoping he continues to get more carries stash on my bench(wanted Devonte Freeman but someone scoop him already lol)

WRs got Lockett and Keenan Allen like both but my depth pieces kinda splash players have Djax and Cooks also Jefferson(Vikings)

Hoping Jefferson picks up later in the year. Might try and snatch Gage(Falcons) but he scares me being the 3rd guy at WR lol

hahahahaha trying to swipe Josh Allen from a guy in a trade for QB not sure he will take my offer kinda low balled it first attempt offered Singletary and Djax for him. Guy needs RB and WR though bad

Two notable points about Eagles run game Sunday: 1) they had 11 rushing first downs, including 8 by Miles Sanders; and 2) they didn't have any negative runs.

This is a good example of what I have highlighted. I was surprised Mills graded so well, but I think his numbers against the run will be a lot worse.
