Is it bad scouting or the fact Howie won't listen to them????

How to feel he’s getting info somewhere to make the decisions. Yes, he’s moving and wheeling and dealing for certain players. But he’s the one that’s setup all the people supplying him with intel. I really don’t think he’s drastically breaking from the board on moves. Everybody isn’t going to agree on every pick. That’s just always true.

LOL which team doesn't want more picks?

Sone want to trade up and fill that crucial need. But the Texans are possibly the most rebuilding team of all. But it feels like they’d trade back too cheap just to add something because that’s what they’re supposed to do. Desperately trading back is a whole other thing.

Feels like this draft doesn’t have guys up top to get too excited about. Feels pretty strong depth wise though. So that’s what I’m hearing about this draft. Everybody wants to trade back. Nothing much special round one from day two guys. I always like say two of the draft. But feels like that’s the common perception and read this year particularly.

Maybe we trade up from 15 to 13 and give them a late pick? Depends WHO we want and if they fall

It’s clearly an option to move up to 13. Don’t think it would cost us the third rounder it did last year. But who will trade for fifteen and give up anything great? They’ll just trade to 13 is my point.

You should run for office Joe.

It sure would be a 100% better Joe than the current Joe [cough] buffoon

Yeah,I was never a fan(as you know). Maybe this is a last chance try before we lose him. I know they love his blocking skills. IDK if he is tradable

Who the f would want him??? I sure as hell wouldn't. Neither him nor Reagor could catch a cold.

I know you aren’t much of a fan of watching the pressers. But Rosie had a few recently. He makes some interesting points that I believe is telling. He made the point that he doesn’t believe in following the trends. He was asked about the big Wr trade and contract situations. He shared that he believed if you are following the trends in the NFL that will lead you to middle of the pack. He really wants to be ahead of the trends. Values his analytics. Seems to me like he is supremely confident in himself. Don’t think he’s too scared of doing the work and making his own decisions based on all his own intel. I like that about him. He might be a bit too confident. He also might not do the right thing because it’s too trendy. Like….he has to do it his own way. His ego needs that. Haven’t known many GMs that look for the glory and credit as much as Rosie. When his ego and pride got put in check with Chipper we got the best from him. He does have some great abilities and talent at his job. If he can just dial things back a tiny bit his qualities tend to shine.

1st....wow, and I mean wow when it comes to you complimenting Howie.  My gut tells me that you will hate him next year when we have a different QB.

But yeah, you don't need to listen to him talk to know he believes he is the smartest person in the room.   They have their ways of doing things for decades.   Which means no safety or LB drafted first.  DL, OL, WR or CB drafted round 1...if it is different than that... then it's awesome that the trend is broken since before the internet....since Jimmy Carter was president.

You see how long it's been when referencing those things?  Do we get it now?  Yeah...this is the year it's different....I've heard that before.

Despite my "findings and logic",I tend to agree. Howie loves his linemen and our Pass rush was not up to par(nor was much else🤣),so I think he goes there in round 1. At 18 we can get a WR who will still be worthwhile even with a slight trade back,or we like Pickens in 2,(that's fine as long as we get him). It's just a sad commentary when we have SO many draft picks and the number of needs outweigh the available picks. If done right, this draft will go a long way. I consider this year 2 of the re-build. By 2023,we should have a solid team

https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/big-boards/2022/consensus-big-board-2022   Really love this sight.Updates alot. It's now up to 76 big boards!!! and over 400 mock drafts,so I would think it's fairly accurate. I wish they would add links to check players scouting reports, but you can also see who's coming up 1,2 years later. Not many places have that

They have the birds taking an LB in the 1st? I'd like to see it happen.

I'm thinking Vegas will give odds against that one

Yeah I dont see it either, they dont know the history, they just go by BPA(lol-HELOOOOO HOWIE)

I'm thinking we move up a little for Davis(probably have to take the 13 from Houston for our 15 +) and move back a little from 18 for Karlaftis(from Pitts, their 20+). That would sure solidify the D line. Then Pickens in round 2

Some things/questions. How do you all feel about them. 1) Replacing Cox   2) replacing Kelce, those are 2 spots that are going away soon 3) the S position We need pro bowlers everywhere HAHA

So does every other team.

Getting a replacement for Cox and Kelce isn't a bad idea though. They both won't go much longer.

In this day and age it'd be nice to see them both play their entire careers with one team.

Up until about the last month I could only dream Karlaftis would fall to us at 15. Think he immediately contributes but hasn’t even played much football. So that would be very exciting to watch. Don’t know what to believe anymore though. Nothing has even happened for so long yet these mocks have moved these guys all around. Every writer has a few sources. But they get used for smokescreens….but also have legit intel. Which is which? No idea. Obviously GMs are privy to off the field and medical situation we are clueless about. Georgia kid was supposed to be there for us at 19. Now some have him going number one overall. Pretty fun and interesting draft. No real standout super studs. No obvious Trevor Lawrence or anything. So anything can happen. Should be an interesting draft.

I can see things both ways on philosophy here. Do you want the expensive WR? Get him cheap on a rookie deal. But you see league wide what a hassle teams are having with them. Having to trade them after three seasons so they force their payday. Actually makes me back way off of those thoughts. But if you draft a LB you aren’t getting bent over to sign him for 25 mil year four. You have a much better chance to have a cheap rookie player for four of me or even that fifth year. Even if he’s outstanding you aren’t killing yourself to resign him. So once you really dig in the situation is opposite than most think. Many think WR are pricey…get a cheap rook. But all we’ve seen this offseason is how that isn’t working out well for almost anybody.

NFL isn’t static. If you are basing almost anything on what happened twenty years ago you’re dead in the water. Adapt or die.

I know you’ve dug so deep into this draft. Truth is….we have no idea what Gannon wants or needs. What he’s identified as that game changer for his D. All I feel like I know is that he didn’t inherit a team playing his style defense. We’ve seen him identify and bring in Harris at SS and Wilson at LB. Chose to keep Harris over McLeod. Wilson was a bust….but the idea seems clear. He needs coverage LB. Even the drafting of Jacoby snd labeling him LB. These are all signs. Brought in a coverage LB again in White. What is he truly missing to make his D really work? I think he’s identified that. So his guy he NEEDS is perhaps much higher on the board than everybody else Big Board. Think it was obvious he was missing what he desired. He ran some makeshift stuff last season. Think we could be surprised by some of the D selections. I’m very interested in what is decided though. This D is evolving and very much changing from the Schwartz philosophies. Let’s learn.

Riddick was a huge move. Far from traditional. But he could be utilized so many different ways I can’t really say. Gannon has me guessing some here.

I have seen karlaftis at 22 on some boards. I have done mock Sims where Nakobe dean falls into round 2(that would be a gift at 51(but I got him there a few times). Alot of this IMP depends on how teams that needs a QB are viewing them and what they will give tp move up.it should push some nice players down which is great. We can move down and still get them
