I watched the Browns Bengals game for some insight into what we can expect and here's some thoughts.

On offense, they are pretty vanilla. They run some read option, but not nearly as much misdirection or motion as we saw last week. Burrow is a legit QB. He will generally go with his first read and then straight to a check down or take off. He has some decent mobility. Expect a lot of Mixon runs and Mixon catches. AJ Green is our Alshon Jeffery. He was thrown at 13 times last week and caught three balls, so he isn't what he used to be. Tyler Boyd is their primary weapon. I expect Slay to see a lot of him.

Uzomah being out helps us. It seems like if we can stop the run we should be okay on defense. But Burrow is a legit QB, so if we aren't solid in coverage, he will make throws against us.

On defense, the Browns looked a lot like the Rams did against us, with a ton of rollouts and misdirection, which the Bengals struggled with. Their linebackers looked a lot like ours, which isn't a compliment.

I don't see a lot of talent on the defense, especially with Atkins unlikely to play. Their secondary is decent I guess, but this is a far different defense than one featuring Donald, Ramsey and Brockers.

In horseracing, if you fail to make money a few times in a row, you get to drop down in class. And this feels like what we are doing. Hopefully we don't spit the bit again.

Jsb, I love the horseracing reference!  Former jockey....a long time ago.

Its bad right now. Cheap claimer bad. $2,500 claimer bad. Haha.

The Eagles seem to always lose to the hapless Bengals. I think they have lost the last 4 times they have played. Thats 16 years. And remember the "I didnt know you could tie” game? Cmon McNabb.

And we never lost opening week with Doug as HC and first time losing to the Rams with Mcvay as the HC for them so trends are being broken.

This is a really interesting play to watch.

The things I took away from it.

1. Cox has three guys watching him. He is clearly the focus of any oline.

2. Toohill just gets knocked around like a pinball.

3. Nate Gerry? He looks like he is a time traveler who suddenly found himself in the middle of a football game.

4. The route run by Kupp is the kind we should be running with JJAW. I think that is a pretty good play design.

Wow so Cox is questionable for the Bengals game that will be a massive blow for us

SOS we can't keep a complete team on the field.hard to "gel" mesh or however you want to put it when the pieces keep changing.O line musical chairs is killing any timing Wentz may have had in pre.The mental clock counted 3 in pre,but if you only have 2.5,your timing is not there

I expect a super healthy dose of Sanders/Scott this week. We need to get some dang pressure on Burrow, our whole defense hinges on this point. We should be able to slow Mixon down enough, but do we have a 3rd down pass rush? I haven't seen it much

If Hargrave and Jackson are both healthy it won't be too bad. Ridgeway is decent, and I would expect McGill to get called up.

Hargrave wasn't great last week. but he should be better now that he has a game and a full week of practice under his belt.

We can cover it sure we have decent depth but you don’t replace the caliber of player Cox is easily.... Hell even you said teams we focusing on taking Cox away having 2-3 guys watch that is massive effect on a game let’s someone like Malik and the rest get 1 on 1s

Didn’t he only play like what 30% of the snaps if that??? Plus lost early in camp wouldn’t stress on him much should as you said get better

1 on 1 battles why I think Joe has been stressing the DL so much and why I’m starting to go with him...

We have all known Cox has been commanding double and triple teams and still playing at a good level not quite his all pro from of 2 years ago but hasn’t seemed 100% either.

But he is doing enough to give guys like Graham, Sweat, Malik, Barnett etc. 1 on 1 matchups most of the time and really outside of Malik it seems couple glimpses from Sweat we aren’t winning them like we should.

The Bengals line is full of really young players who haven't done well, so we should really take advantage of that. even without Cox, if we can't generate pressure against these guys, it is a really bad sign.

I hope Sanders see a healthy dose need him to keep having big weeks as one of my FF RBs lol...

Jeffery, Ford and Reagor out Sunday, Cox is questionable.

Burnett probably gets called up. I would expect us to be in 12 about 80 percent of the time with DJax as the z and Ward as a Y/X. Last year they put Ward in motion a lot in this formation, and I would expect the same Sunday.

It will be interesting to see how they move the ball with this offense. My guess is that Carson will be pretty comfortable with this lineup and do well, especially since the Bengals D is really young, and should be exploitable.

Doug talking to the media making it sound like JJaw will see an increased role

Something Pederson said early in his presser that I didn't have time to tweet in the moment -- with Jalen Reagor down, he called J.J. Arcega-Whiteside "someone that we're going to have to lean on a little bit here in these next couple of games.

Wonderful. What a great situation to be in. He's just the guy we need to lean on more.

It’s a bad sign already that we are not winning enough 1 on 1 battles especially since we rely heavily on the 4 man rush

I honestly don’t know what to make of JJaw. I mean haven’t watched enough of the games to see how he has been running routes getting open etc.

I believe he has 1 drop, heard he was open for the TD Wentz threw to Ertz instead vs Washington.... INT Wentz threw his way was 100% on Wentz for a terrible decision. But at the same time two weeks in no catches and Wentz doesn’t seem to look or throw his way that is concerning.

If Wentz and JJaw can’t start connecting now over the next two weeks or so probably time to lean on someone else

No idea why they would make this decision unless Pryor is just so horrific at LG that they didn't have a choice.  I don't believe that to be the case.

Now we have an UDFA practice squad guard that had a devastating start to his season against an absolute ferocious DL in Washington.  Then he completely rebounds and has a great game in week 2.  Now they're gonna switch him to the other side.  I hope he is mentally tough.  If they did something like this with Dillard, he would wet his pants, steal the football, and run home.

That is the thing with Peedy....sometimes we're sooooo smart we are stupid .... Pryor with starting experience third yr player seemed to hold up alright last year, with a little playing time this massive, athletic monster should of been at LG all along. If I toiled for years to be in that spot and then get passed over like they did, well it should be decided on the field.

All we have are munchkins at LB that are born to miss tackles.

Communication is a real problem  Mills going back to his college position at S and McLeod two games  with relatively inexperienced  2nd yr players at LB learning to Communicate with a New DLine  this is A lot ....no pre-season clearly has  NOT impacted teams like the Ravens... Or Chiefs ...like it has our Birds . This is the 2nd year in a row we are pathetic starting the season I blamed Peedy last year keeping players off the field to avoid injury. It took about  Covid limitations another contributing factor....gotta remind myself not to be too harsh.

I haven't really stopped to consider how the lack of a Human crowd is impacting the energy on the field playing to these empty stadiums . What do you guys think about the fake crowd noise. How has it impacted the players energy or effort on the field ?

I mean our LBs are all the normal size of Lbs in today’s game

He should smoke this week

IDC how we do it,if he declares,I want us to go against history and draft Micah Parsons-Penn LB.We have as picks 1,2,3,5,5 and a slew of 6's(4 I believe).Use those late picks to move up for him.GO against history and GET this guy!
