Teams needed other positions more,it's not rocket science LOL. So you are guarnteeing Brown makes the pro bowl this year? I cant wait to see this!!!

Nah... I would say neither due to their QBs...but we got  dude that was probowl...at a position that has some real studs in the current league...he did it playing in a run heavy offense... and the QB is meh?   He is going into year 4. He is cheap this year...the extension given was with the Eagles being in control... where guys got paid huge $$ this year, and you can bet that money is going up big time...he got locked in from 2023-26...at 2022 prices.

Big picture,  no excuse.  With Burks or any other rookie, there would be " Hurts has a rookie WR that doesn't have the experience "   not an excuse now.

That really is the biggest thing if you step back away from just looking at college players...and look at what matters.   The big question is our QB.  That needs to get out of limbo into a definitive direction.  This move cements that.  From there the organization can plan it one way or another.

The fan reactions are always entertaining when it comes to the draft.   Contrast....guys on TV dancing and hugging with these moves... have people on Facebook " F Howie"   lol.

I mean...with a game your team wins or loses ...it's definitive one way or the other.   With this...it's either the best day of your life/ best GM ever...or " my life stinks/ worst GM ever. "

Just nothing like it at all .  Eagles fans are drinking beers in happiness or anger... over the same thing...lol.

Let's focus on getting talent in here and worry about money later.    The money issues don't come from paying good players...it comes from paying bad players.

I’m not concerned about the money but GBFL was… I was just pointing out that Brown hurts us less this year then Smith against the cap. And at the end of the day the cap hit is what going to effect who we can sign.

The next QB comes cheap, so we should be ok for a while.   I'm looking for 2 good prospects tomorrow and possible trades with Dillard and Sanders.

I think the Eagles won day 1 of the draft. We get a huge interior force and if and it is a big if he hits his ceiling I don’t know how you defend this guy.

Then you go out land a young WR entering his prime and sign him cheap compared to the WR market right now.

Even with those moves we still have two picks in day 2. And likely will see trade down or two which we will accumulate more picks in day 3

I could 100% see us going RB in day 2 more traditional 1 cut back would seem to fit Siri run scheme better

AJ Brown the last three years:
2.61 yds/route run (4th)
6.16 YAC/reception (4th)
2,995 yards (17th)
Eagles getting him for at his age 25, 26, 27 and 28 seasons.
Less guaranteed money than Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs, Davante Adams.

I like the idea of DB and LB tomorrow...  those guys are usually your best ST players ...which absolutely helps your team.

So let's look at the 2 big moves... first draft pick and the big FA signing.   Does that give off a little 3-4 flavor??? Davis as a NT and Riddick as the pass rusher OLB?

Wouldn’t be shocked if we moved down in both 2nd and 3rd round slightly to gain some extra picks in day 3

This is a big thing for me. ...Never have I seen a team built like the Eagles with so few players ....especially the good ones....in this age range.  Maybe Goedert is the only one?   Idk.  I don't really count Swet or Maddox as top guys.

Eagles want that multiply D front… Can go further looking at the 34 front when you have Cox who can play as a DE on snaps and Milton Williams

Have to say biggest fear of day 2 of the draft has to be the QB factory striking… Still got guys like Corral, Ridder and Willis available

The " we took the best guy on our board" reason.  I can see it.

This is where I don't have QB, punter,  kicker or long snapper on my boards.   Can't compare them to other positions.     If it were me, I'd rather take the punter dude in round too than a QB.    All in with Hurts 2022, then go find the next guy if he doesn't pan out.

So now we added a 100 milllion dollar risk when we could have drafted one(same 4 year span) for peanuts (and gave up picks to boot)

Drafted Reagor or JJaW you’d rather

a bit over 1k yards other years, not like he put up 1500 yards. Smith wasn't far off from that  bit over 1k at 900+,so any top WR draft pick would have put Smith over 1k also and could have been done CHEAP. So whatever. I feel we spent money we didnt need to and gave up draft capital besides

You’re acting like just any guy is Smitty. We had to get him or else we would have blown the pick. Think any of the guys we needed to pick were off the board. Brown was a home run trade. Love that we didn’t have to use 15 to do it.

That ship has already sailed.

It will be interesting though to compare the seasons that Brown and Burks have.

Physically they're pretty much the same player but as you like to point out it's those intangibles.

You can bash me all you want, but it was a stupid move IMO,to pay for what you could have had basically free,so he better put up 1500 yards or it was not worth it

Brown brings different experiences to our young WR room as well. Listen to Smitty. He even wanted a vet to help him learn more. Quez and Smitty just got better.

Not to mention how Brown just made the guy who refills the soda machine better too, who already got better with Hurts.

I'm happy though, everyone is satisfied with paying 25 milllion for 100 more yards a year. I personally don't like it

Four year 100 mil is the MAX. We got him cheap in this market. Be worth it if we guaranteed all of it. But we didn’t remotely do that.

I know but it's 25 million for 100 yards a year(with Hurts who knows?) and that is not worth it to me

So we will see if he is worth it,my gut tell me he is not, plus we gave up picks to boot

That’s if he becomes a SB champion first team all pro. Then maybe he gets all that money.

My gripe with the trade is is they could have had a physically similar WR for less money and kept the 3rd round pick.

Brown will have to significantly outperform Burks for this to be a good move.

Eagles trade up to 13 with Williams and Davis available. I believe that Howie wanted Williams but took Davis as a consolation prize. I like Davis, but felt Wyatt has more upside.

Trading for AJ Brown was a shocker. I did not feel HR would want to pay a WR that kind of cash. But he is a proven WR and a true #1 based on his stats. One thing for Sure. Hurts will either sink or swim this season. I, for one, Hope he improves allot over last year. I want him to succeed as this will open up allot of options in the next draft. Do I think he will? No, but I have been wrong before, so hope I am again. IF he does succeed, the Eagles should send a huge check to the QB coach Hurts went to off season.

Also, I feel AJ Brown was a better choice than Burks. Burks is an unknown. He may be great, or he may stink up the joint. We know AJ Brown will be a stud. Think about what Miami gave up for Hill. We gave up a 1st and a 3rd. This is chicken feed by comparison to what Miami gave up.

Now, we need to grab 2 of the following: CB, S, DE or LB with the next two picks. I could care less which 2 we get as long as they are solid.

Didn't know this. Our defensive line coach Tracey Rocker recruited Davis out of high school to Georgia.

Fun fact. Really quite a difference making fact. He obviously knows him very well.

As I said Burks would draw the same coverage and we would have saved draft picks which you seem not to grasp

I think everybody here grasps that your…..what fifth WR off the board will be better than a proven All Pro…..in your mind. But I believe Rosie’s thoughts were we need one of those top guys ….that we would have needed to trade up for or trade for the proven commodity instead of Rosie’s gut.

Not really fair to compare these two. You need to account for the person throwing him the ball. You do know what AJ Brown has done the past two years to look at vs. Burks.....
