The Eagles felt they had the roster flexibility they needed without Reagor on IR until more injuries changed things last weekend, I’m told.

Who were the WRs running the routes there the play call seemed good but looked like inexperience from the WRs parts on the routes

It was Rodgers and Hightower, so there is a pretty good possibility that one of the guys messed up the route (my guess is Hightower since the same thing happened with him and Ertz.)

I thought Rodgers did show good awareness to turn his route upfield. What is disappointing is that Hightower should have recognized what was happening much earlier and been the one to go deep, unless the play was designed to look like this, which i can't believe.

I want Micah Parsons with our first pick next year(LB-Penn).He's even a homer

Good Luck with that!  I can't remember the last time Eagles took a LB in the first round....

JSB, Mills and Gerry are in the heart of our defense. Goes into the whole defense coming together and gelling. Bit of a symbiotic relationship there. The two of them need to step it up...but also need to bring that second level of D together with the third(and outside). We’re obviously off to a slow start.

That is the problem Mills cannot play SS and Gerry couldn't play for any NFL team. The defense will suffer with those two in there. Smart OC's will target Gerry almost exclusively, especially on 3rd downs....

This is a good example of some play calling issues I talked about.

If you watch the route develop, we have two guys coming across the middle who are covered by a single safety. This should have been an easy throw for a big gain, but the receivers are too close together and the safety never has to commit to guarding one receiver until it is too late. What should have happened is that one receiver should have gone deep immediately taking the safety with him, and leaving the underneath receiver wide open.

We need better spacing on routes This is a play we missed that should have gone for big yardage.

better coaching would correct this. but we have no coaching...

I know,I am dreaming,But the kicker is he is a "homer" and they tend to prefer those. So who knows? maybe we break history. In his case,it would be worth breaking. He's a BRUTAL rusher on blitz packages(we need this badly). He can play Mike or Will and I just love this kids attitude of "your mine and I'm comin".We could use a serious injection of enthusiasm around here

If he's there and we pass,we are dumber than FIVE boxes of rocks

If its Howie and this defensive scheme... Get ready to pass.

Sadly you may be right lol. We have a boatload of round 6 picks,I would use as many as possible to make the move up.I suspect he will be a top 5 pick.Hard for Schwartz to call LB blitzes because we have noone like this

They way we are playing,I suspect we should be in the top 12 on draft day(maybe higher?) Shouldn't take alot to make this move IMO.We have no round 4 picks, this is the round we normally get alot of players or BU's.But since that's gone the first 3 picks need to count(like we say every year lol)

I don't think Schwartz wants to call that many LB blitzes. He wants the front 4 to pressure and drop 6 as often as he can.

Wentz has to know the routes being run....two guys open..one intermediate and one going deep. Need to throw the ball to the open spot. That was Wentz choking...I’d say.

The game vs SF will be the first game I can really watch beginning to end looking for to it I think lol...Hoping to get my own takeaways from the game

Trevor Williams didn't practice today leaving the Eagles really thin at outside corner. It looks like either LeBlanc or Mills will have to play CB2, and if it's Mills then I guess Epps starts at SS, which may be an upgrade at both spots. Epps has played well this season in limited opportunities. He has a decent PFF rating, which I think is backed up by what I have seen on the all 22.

Now if we could only get Gerry to tweak a hamstring, we would be set.

With JJAW and DJax not practicing, and Jeffery unlikely to play many snaps if at all, we are pretty thin at WR.

Ward and Hightower are the only two completely healthy ones. Quez Watkins practiced today, so that's a good sign.

This is a nice breakdown of some of Hightower's routes from Sunday, so it is nice to see he is making progress.

One interesting thing is that the Eagles were reportedly equally interested in Watkins and Hightower when they were picking and went with Hightower. Then when Watkins was available later, they double dipped. So I wouldn't be surprised to see both of them on the field if DJax and Jeffery can't go. Hightower played the X for us and Watkins is a natural Z. In this poop show of a season, I wouldn't mind giving the rookies a chance. And, realistically, we don't have much of a choice.

An offense of Ertz, Ward, Hightower and Watkins is intriguing, as Watkins has a ton of speed and Hightower isn't far behind. They should open things up for Ward and Ertz underneath. And if they play well, then Reagor can slide into the slot when he comes back, since I think he would be really dangerous there.

Even when Jeffery and DJax are healthy, I don't think they should be eating up all the snaps as we should be getting the rookies some playing time to see what they can do.

Appreciate the Hightower iso film. He can play.

Burnett, Ward and Hightower is what I’d expect to see this week. Burnett took the job from JJAW. He’s just been better every time he’s been given an opportunity.

Yup, I expect Burnett to be active and play in front of JJAW. In fact, at this point, I don't even consider JJAW to be a factor. I would rather see Rodgers on the field than him.

Watkins does give them a speed dynamic that they don't have if Jackson can't play. A few of the beat writers said it is doubtful he will play since he was on IR for the past three weeks, but if he's healthy I don't see why they wouldn't put him out there.

This is a pretty good podcast.

A couple of interesting points. One, they said Mailata should be at LT, Peters at LG and Herbig at RG, and I agree 100 percent. That switch would make the run game a ton better, as Mailata and Peters together would be unstoppable, and Herbig and Lane work well together as well.

I think once you start pounding the ball, teams have to start loading the box and it opens things up for the passing game. Right now the running game is okay but we aren't dominating with Pryor in there.

Another point they made was that the play calling was much better in the first quarter when they were scripted than when Doug was calling them on the fly later on. They said there were some great plays early on that were abandoned for no reason, and that we became predictable. The play calling also failed to get wrs open on a lot of plays, and they should look to change things up.

On the linebackers, they said they are the worst in the NFL, but no change is planned. The team knows Gerry stinks, but apparently Singleton isn't considered to be any better and the rookies are running the scout team, so they aren't even practicing the team's defense. As they said, "Larry Bird isn't walking through that tunnel," so we have to live with what they have.

I’d love to see Doug give up play calling I understood he wanted it show his chops early on now I wish he would take over the big overall view. Think Press be good as a play caller think he is fine as a pass coordinator... Take away QB coach from him get in a guy that will really push Wentz

Part of our failure,we are NOT getting to the QB's(we did vs Cincy because they suck).Parson's would fix that. He's also super fast for a LB,so again better coverage and blitzing. He can play successfully at Mike or Will depending on the D set.I know it's way early, but Parson's is my number 1 draft choice for us and at the rate we are going,we should be in a position to get him
