Some thoughts on the injury situation.

In the secondary, losing Maddox doesn't seem to be a huge deal, as it's really hard to make the argument that he is any better than Strap or NRC. Losing Slay would be a huge deal. Losing anyone else? I am not convinced that our starters are any better than the backups. As long as we have five guys to put out there, and as long as one of them is Slay, we should be fine. If anything. I am hoping Epps gets more snaps since he's been pretty good with one or two exceptions.

At WR, I am guessing we go with Ward, Hightower, Burnett, Watkins (?) and Fulgham (?). I think they will have five guys active which means two call ups from the PS. Burnett is the obvious choice. The other seems like Fulgham, who was a sixth round pick of the Lions last year who had a decent camp for the short time he was here. He played in three games for the Lions, so he has some NFL experience, though it is of the JJAW kind where he didn't do anything.

Marcus Green is the other possibility, and he's been with the team much longer. But they protected Fulgham and not him, so I guess he won't be the lucky one. He's a slot guy only, so it seems unlikely he breaks through here as we have tons of slot options.

I am not sure what they should do with JJAW at this point. It seems like he should maybe go on IR until he's 100 percent healthy and just let Burnett have his roster spot for the next three weeks. It seems likely we will get Jeffery and DJax back for the Steelers, so he won't be playing at that point anyway. And they probably need a roster spot for Burnett anyway since either DJax or Alshon or both are going to get hurt in that span anyway.

If nothing else, getting Hightower, Ward and hopefully Watkins reps with Carson is a good thing, and the offense should be okay due to all the injuries the 49ers are dealing with. I don't think Butler will play, but Rodgers will probably get a lot of snaps.

In some ways, due to all the injuries to both teams, this is like a preseason game. Should be great television.

LMAO the 9ers will kick our a**. BTW Ward was the ONLY WR at practice. This is disgusting.Stubbed my toe,put me on IR!!! Djax didn't play for a year but he got a "day off" before? I'd say get your freakin arse onto the gridiron.Turning into a group of BIG pu**ies

Freeman 2015 337 touches

264 carries 1064 yards 4 yards per carry 11 tds

73 catches 578 yards 3 tds

Barkley 2018 352 touches

261 1307 yards 11 tds 5 yards a carry

91 catches  721 yards 4 tds

Biggest difference between the two Barkley on a terrible team and everyone knew he was getting the ball as you said Freeman had other weapons to ease the burden for teams to focus on.

So yea see Barkley top tier see Freeman very good those extra 15 touches really made a difference

SO giving 15 more touches to Freeman means(as I said) not alot of difference. You make it sound like there is a gap the size of the Grand Canyon.I'm sure it will take him time to get up to speed and maybe bark is a bit better, but not the gap you pretend it to be. Time will tell. And of course It's hard to recall the schedule and what D"s they played against

So now we have a card table set up in Novacare parking lot to see if we can find players off the street. This is truly pathetic and it's been 2-3 years in a row we scrape barrel bottoms after the FLUKE SB season.Med and conditioning staff needs fired---- ALL of them!!!! Disgusting BS and lack of development.Of course you can't develop players on the mash unit. They need to lose "we're from Philly and we fight" cause we can't fight out way out of a wet paper bag right now

This is certainly true! The conditioning staff have been here a while i think and yet its the medical team that was fired.

Yea 300 yards rushing gap and 200 yards receiving when everybody knew Barkley was getting the ball is a massive gap... He avg. 5 yards a carry... Freeman avg. 4 when teams top focus was Julio he wasn’t facing stacked boxes.

Then there is the clear eye test Barkley on a different level. Your biggest argument was oh well if Freeman got forced feed like Barkley no they had damn near the same snap count and Barkley outclassed him on a far worse team

if you can’t see the clear difference between the two idk what to tell you

So thinking WRs for SF

Ward/Hightower will be a go

Burnett will get called up

Image Watkins will get activated make a space for him

Butler our newly signed WR turned TE will be an emergency option along with RBs Huntley/Scott.

Was thinking possibly we call up two WRs Fulgham being the other but with our Cb situation being thin as well thinking we will call up Grayland who can be a S/slot CB option for us.

We get Ford back this week so I don't think Arnold gets called up. We have 8 healthy DBs, which seems like enough.

I think Fulgham gets called up since he is a natural replacement for JJAW in the lineup. They probably wouldn't need him if Butler was ready, so it makes sense to use him this week. I would like to see what he has. He had a good training camp and actually made some nice catches for Detroit in the preseason.

We have 4 healthy CBS that’s counting Mills that the real issue.... and Ford is a special teams ace not much of a player

My guess is ton will depend on Watkins if we take him off the 21 day IR list or not. If it’s a no then I guess 2 PS WRs

It will likely come down to a fifth WR or ninth DB. Neither guy will be expected to play much. It could come down to which guy is needed on special teams. Arnold played special teams for us last week, so he's definitely a possibility. I don't think he will get any snaps on defense as he is behind Wallace on the depth chart, who can also play the slot.

Fulgham seems likelier to me just because he is our only bigger wr option since JJAW looks unlikely to play and Butler is so new.

Butler you can get a coupe of package plays and we have other options we can use at WR as emergency. Flex Ertz in the slot or put wide things we have done use Scott possibly even Huntley... Also Hightower isn’t some small guy good what 6’2.

CB on the other hand we have 3 healthy guys... 4 if we count Mills. With our injury track record so far what happens if 2 guys goes down??? Who plays CB then???

Do we trust Epps/Wallace/Ford to play CB???? Grayland at least played Cb has slot experience.

But like I said think ton of it will depend on Watkins right now he still isn’t on the active roster if we don’t active him on the roster then we only have 2 WRs on roster healthy

Idk just more confident on what we can donor fill gaps at WR then CB

Likely have 10 pass catchers available 4 WRs, 3-4RBs, 2-3TEs

mad you said 8 DBs

I would not be surprised to see us put one or two guys on IR today, as the roster is looking somewhat tight.

DJax, Jeffery, Williams and Maddox are out and JJAW is unlikely to play. Sudfeld and Huntley were inactive last week and we don't really need a ninth olineman or fifth DE. Plus Butler is new. So that's 10 guys who could be inactive this week, for only 7 spots.

My guess is that Maddox goes on IR, and possibly JJAW.

If no one goes on IR, the inactives will be all the injured guys, and I guess the fifth DE and ninth Olineman. I think it will depend on whether or not Huntley and Butler can contribute on special teams. It seems like a dumb risk to take, when Maddox will almost certainly miss three weeks and JJAW is just a waste of space at this point.

Everything I read on Maddox was 1-2 weeks for his ankle

I do think the Eagles can cut an OL though especially with the new rules on the PS think 9 guys is plenty... Also think we could cut Avery or even Toohill(think he could pass through waivers and be put on PS). Not sure we need all them especially again with the PS rules now can call a guy up and Curry should be returning soon I believe what next week or 2

Also don’t think we need 6 S though my guess is Mills moves down to CB after Parks returns.

Quez Watkins isn't playing.

My guess is that they will add Burnett to the roster and then call up Fulgham.

JP headed to IR whooo money well spent

It's sad to say but this probably helps us.

Next question will we finally give Mailata a look or will it be Driscoll at LT

My biggest thing is I didn’t want to pay him to move over I was against it from the start because of this exact moment it’s like clock work with him now. Plus his play wasn’t even up to par Father Time was catching up to him and it was showing

Yeah, the Eagles struggle to ley go of the past. First Sproles and now Peters.

At least they had the good sense to put him on IR rather than to let him try to play and then sit on the bench for the next three weeks.

And, if Mailata plays well, he could possibly come back and play guard if he gets healthy.

This also opens up a roster spot which we need right now.

Well JP going to IR opens a roster spot Burnett???? Though with Watkins coming back Alshon coming back, Reagor few weeks away, Djax, JJaw... Wouldn't shock me if we just called Burnett up along with another from PS

The one positive from all the injuries is that we are getting answers to questions we need to get answered.

Hightower and Mailata getting snaps on offense is a good thing, since WR and OT are huge question marks for us. Herbig getting high rates at guard is a positive development for the future as it is likely he will be starting next year if Kelce retires. If Mailata and Hightower do well, it substantially changes how we can approach the draft next year, and we will be able to really focus on the defense.
