Sometimes things come down to these decisions. Hard to say what transpired throughout a season. That last guy on the roster that went undrafted might just catch over 100 yards in a SB for you like Clement.

That devalues our first round pick we got from them potentially. I am hoping for them to fail spectacularly.

Agreed, I'd rather trade him to Dallas. Really it's not close. No help for Saints this year.  Dillard with one year left before free agency...  it's the perfect guy NOT to trade to the Saints

Dang, just seems there was no opportunity to actually earn a roster spot.  Maybe they know he’ll make it to the PS.

Good intel. Not sure if I’ll remember all that. But I agree with the league involving more players. Keep the possible player pool as large as possible.

Agree, and I like more guys practicing... especially through the long season.  Keeps the top guys fresh, while the backups have bodies to go against.   And if they actually get in a game, it won't be as bad since they get in the work prior to playing for real.

Yep you did. Everyone gets lucky sometime.Must have their eye on someone better from another teams cut.NP with that

Just surprising since that is where we are thinnest

Wake up late, Church, then pasta at my parents with the game on in the background.    Let the wife and kids leave at halftime and I stick around to watch the end of the game in peace while checking fantasy.

That's my game plan.  Usually executed to perfection for 1pm games.  I'm like Buddy Ryan, wish they could do all of them at 1pm.

Are we thinnest at safety or just missing the name guy?  Idk who Tarrt is, but it seems because he was one another roster , it's a recognized name for some of you.  And the assumption is a dude who played in a game for another team is better than guys we have here who haven't really played yet.  Can't assume anything.  It's also why I'm ok not paying 19 mil just to get a name guy.

We got Jenkins at a time where there was at least one other guy that was supposed to be better.  I'm good seeing the young guys play this year, already too many old guys on this D that won't be here soon enough.

Absolutely! I also believe there are plenty of guys that just don’t get a fair chance that have the capability. That is the biggest downside with Siri’s approach: cut down practice time and shorten PS schedule really limits opportunities. His fear of injury makes him rely on what he sees on paper more than in person. Basically like the 53 man roster is done before TC begins…..except for injury or a move or two Rosie makes. The reason guys like Kurt Warner took the route he took. My experience has shown me things don’t always work out like you see on paper. Every season is it’s own…even the same player is not the same from year to year. A million reasons for this…but seems like one of the main consistencies of the NFL is not much consistency. Just like coming out of high school these guys are labeled five star recruits or two star. Far from a perfect science. I believe more in the Dick Vermeil way. I believe more in what I see on the field than the Underwear Olympics. There are also plenty of guys that are gamers. They step up in that situation….but aren’t as good looking in practice. If Allen Iverson got judged by how he looked in practice he probably never would have got to play.

Gannon is supposed to specialize in DBs….when he’s not giving quality HC interviews. Our Secondary coach is highly thought of as well…some consider him as the guy to take over at DC when Gannon leaves. I really was hoping we’d weed through all these young DBs we rostered last year that barely or didn’t even contribute. GM and coaches should be judged on this aspect big time. You have all these young DBs …some need to pan out. Bradbury will limit some of this development. McPherson it’s said has taken a step back this PS. So who’s the young guy they developed that will contribute and hopefully become a starter? I’m not just talking ST. The need is great. The plan seems like it’s been fairly obviously laid out…by rostering so many DBs last season and going heavy this PS. Need that Diamond in the Rough polished. Be huge for us…or we MUST spend big draft capital next year on one…or probably more. Don’t think I can give credit to these coaches on Epps and Maddox doing well….Rosie does though.

S is really looking thin though. Harris is the ‘name guy’ ….but I didn’t even desire to bring him back. He didn’t look very good last year. Epps I’ve been a fan of. ..think he’s making a name with more noticing him now. Wallace just hasn’t had the light go on yet. That kid Blankenship actually looks the most promising. Was hoping they keep him over Tartt.

Ohhhh….Honey Badger supposedly deleted all his social media of Saints. So it looks like ‘name guy’ it is. Think he just stepped past his prime…maybe not a Boy Scout type…but I guess everybody hitting the streets goes through waivers, right? So he can’t just choose unless nobody picks him up….unlikely.

Ravens going to release S Tony Jefferson. But speculation is that it’s known that trusted team vets can be cut and resigned so teams can keep guys and move them to IR. Shady roster juggling moves. Nothing wrong with trying to steal a player with a better offer under these conditions though.

Lions game feels like an early Thanksgiving game…don’t think I’ll cook a turkey….they still sell Wild Turkey….feels like the answer to me.

I’m nervous about this week one matchup. Really just feel we can’t afford to slip up and lose this game. Don’t think we are the best team in the league. Do feel if we win the division…maybe even earn a three seed…we can do something in the postseason. Worried because we really have scaled down our offseason approach. Feels like we are relying on coaching with film study more than actually playing football to prepare. Think there has been a significant evolution of NFL players. Film study and walk throughs have become massively more effective. Great communication from great coaching this can work. Are our coaches really strong in this area? Gotta be because it’s what they are banking on.

How come I’m the only one that seems to question the coaching here? Are you guys super high on all our coaches or just don’t think it really matters? Player talent is soooo important in football. Can’t get but so far without the coaches being on top of their game though. 2017 we had incredible coaches up and down. Really saw how they adapted to whoever we had out there. I like Siri developing a new young team. He’s fire-y! Invested in his players. Just not really seeing the genius though. Can he win the big game? Have my doubts there. Feel like he was hired to develop and raise up a young team. He’s a WR specialist and Gannon DB specialist. So was thinking that was the plan…get them to develop those guys to build up the team to make us more attractive to a top HC candidate(Sean Payton first name comes to mind). Most all of our coaches are fairly inexperienced at their post. I’m fine with a learning curve and bumps in the road. Feels like it’s our biggest limitation to our season expectation to me. Most seem to put it all on Hurts. No doubt they are joined together. I’ll give credit to Siri that he recognized he was doing terrible playcalling and gave it to Steichen. But I’m not that high on Steichen either. My conspiracy thoughts are that Rosie and Lurie were controlling Siri and forcing him to force the passing game with Hurts to get the quick evaluation before the trade deadline. If that was the case turning playcalling over to Steichen might have been his out with them. Playcalling was just that bad first half of the season. But know enough about Lurie and Rosie to hesitate about putting the blame all on Siri. All offseason everybody knew we could dominate on the ground. Hard for me to believe Siri was that clueless. Pedey’s firing really illuminated some of the behind the scenes activity. Clearly Rosie and Lurie were interfering heavily with the HC. They truely believe their the smartest in every room. They fired Pedey because they wouldn’t give him enough control. So that tells me they hired an inexperienced lesser coveted coach…which feels like a move so they could stay in power.

Agree on most... except I think they have plenty of time to see everything.  They have spent OTA, Mini camp, camp...etc.   a lot of hours with these guys.    I think your perception is from the fans view of not seeing much.

I don't remember joint practice with Vermeil or even up to Andy???  This part is new.

The starters may take it easy, but there is plenty to see from the roster bubble guys

Much less practice than before. We had our second joint practice with the Phins canceled. So there really wasn’t much football evaluation. No hitting in practice really. Mostly football training drills. Not sure you can simulate the game to those levels. I do think the players are training and learning much smarter than the old days. We have the Lions ….so hopefully we can get away with it. I’m skeptical. Young team usually I believe to practice harder. Vets can don’t need the contact as much. Just not sure one on one drills is enough. Can’t really evaluate gamers in hitting machines. You get guys look good on paper and good at hitting sleds…maybe it tramslates…maybe not.

Greg Ward been waived seemed like that was obviously going to happen just isn’t that good and we have clearly upgraded at WR

Really though the idea of practicing vs another team is fairly new , I believe we started in Chip era.   So running sprints and hitting the pads, and not drinking water ...all the old school stuff.  They have the OTAs, players come in way more advanced at the amateur levels.  The practice is fine to see who you want to keep.

The bigger practice squad is better for during the season and in the event you need 5th and 6th string guys, the players at least have been working all year.  Should mean less mental mistakes.

Coaching staffs are much bigger now.  The quality control guy, has a quality control guy of his own.  They film every rep in practice,  have refs in practice... and now another team.  2 teams during preseason.  It's enough.

The unbiased radio announcer of the last 45 years is saying this is the best WR room he has ever seen.... as a group.

I mean, you have the Colts #2 guy last year as the #4.   That's pretty good.

Like this WR room alot We are a year late because of the muffed Reagor instead of JJ pick, but I hope Howie has learned and on track. Last 2 drafts have been terrific(at least I am pleased myself),I hope that isn't "luck" If Reagor gets traded I would like that LV kid I posted as a developmental. Came from a small school where the competition wasn't that tough, but he has skills and I would like to know if he can translate the small school skill advantage into NFL production. Needs 2 steps up instead of 1 from the larger schools and NO Joe I am not "worried" about WR5,but If there is a DITR,I like to find them. With the arrival of Brown it will also open up opportunities for the other 2 since he cannot be ignored. I EXPECT 2 -1,000 yard WR's. Anything less is a fail for me

Lions are not a walk in the park anymore.... Should be a much better squad this year. Some are saying 9-8 or 10-7.... I am thinking more like 7-10 or 8-9 as their ceiling
