How good is SF's OL? Does our DL stand a chance to be as successful as last week?

They aren't great on the interior. The tackles are okay. Trent Williams is their LT.

Mullens will get the ball out quickly and will move around a lot. I am sure having watched the Rams game we will see a ton of play action, roll outs and quick passes to the slot/TE.

You mean like Douglas sticking with D.Hopkins  and keeping him relatively in check 7 catches for 41 yards.... It’s magical that guys play better when used the right way.

I wish him well. But their coaches and scheme aren’t our coaches and scheme. But think about it...James was given nothing. Beat him out! Let’s look on the glass is half full side of things for us. Not even arguable that the situation unfolded otherwise. Douglas needed a change. It was good for him. Like Chris Carter. Guy need to go elsewhere and thrive. Wasn’t going to happen here.

But you have a valid enough point. I don’t want to diminish that. He just didn’t do it as an Eagles. Guy was on the field. He wasn’t doing that here. Schwartz mixes it up and is as veteran a DC as it comes. His results command a certain level of respect. His been in charge of his side the whole time. Been in charge of coaches and personnel in his side the whole time. In a way I could argue his power has been greater than Pedey. Because Pedey has tons of other responsibilities. Non football stuff especially. I don’t think I even like Schwartz. But I respect him. We’ve been a top six in the league scoring defense in his time here. That’s results! Complaints have been plenty. But I’ve watched us spend on offense endlessly while always seeming addressing the defense as a second option. Our team is very much the Schwartz Train....we are riding and dying with him in so many ways. I’m fine with that. His way....isn’t my way...so you really know he must be good.

Good...not great. But really the issue...or problem is Shannahan’s scheme. Heck of an offensive mind. They had a great Olineman retire. But he has a proven track record scheme. Developed way before he ever became a coach. But he’s doing a heck of a job adapting it to modern times. Was he ready for the big game last year....that I say no. Why I picked the better team to lose last year’s SB. AR and KC were desperate to win it all. Niners were happy to be there. All the difference. And I’d say it unfolded just like I foretold.

Optimistic side of things is now we are the desperate caged animal. We need a win bad. That’s what we have in our favor. Guys are focused at practice...not coasting. Could be what ends up being the blessing for us. We need development this season. No way around it. Relying on young guys to get there. Just stay in the hunt as they improve. That’s all we can ask.

Yeah GB, Rasul's only rated the 10th best CB in the league right now - must be playing against teams who don't know ( or don't have the ability ) to go deep fast. Still there have been a lot of players who have left that play well on other teams the past few yrs. That shows me a coaching problem. I'm thinking more and more lately Reich had a lot more to do w/ the SB win than Pedey. Did we let the wrong coach go? Pedey's looking old and frustrated lately

IDK Lurie must be livid.I would fire the entire S&C staff effective yesterday. We can't keep anyone on the field. We have a good coaching crew at TE,and Duce does a nice job with what little he has to work with at RB.I'm not downplaying Sanders, love the guy,Scott is solid, maybe never great, but he's adequate, but really after that we have no RB's to speak of.I have zero clue how good our WR staff is because we can't keep guys on the field long enough to do an analysis(thats pretty sad)/Nice to see Ward has become at least "reliable".Djax we may as well lose,he plays 2 games a year then rides pine.I can do that for 1/2 salary. Wentz is doing a terrific impression of Trubiski and if he sucks again this week,I would bench him(seriously) We need a spark with less than our TOP guys.I'm sure Wentz is as frustrated with this team as we are,but we can't afford all these picks and errant throws. teams we play now will be tough enough without that BS.it's a sad commentary for me when by week 4, I am looking more forward to the next draft than the next game. That's pitiful!!!! I'm banking on that we win this lame division with a 5 win record, get all our guys back and "peak" week 17 lmao.I can dream right? This is as bad a division as I have seen besides the 6 freebies the Pats got every year

I'm sure he is livid but he's also partly to blame.

And our corner situation has sucked! I liked the move for Slay. I liked the addition of an experienced slot guy in Robey-Coleman for cheap. I’ve been a fan of LeBlanc. He’s a scrappy and seems to bleed green. I thought it should have been his job to lose. Let Coleman backup and bring specialty packages matchup base snaps. But then it comes down to that second outside corner. Maddox is small in stature. I harped on bringing all these shrimps in at the time. But really isn’t a question about who performed better for us. Maddox has made some plays. Been a bull dog. Last year after he was injured he gave up plays also. I’m fine with it as long as it’s because of injury. Give me all you got. So with no preseason games and the situation playing out like it did....Maddox seemed most deserving of a legit shot focused outside. I thought we’d bring McLeod back...because of value(salary, experience and ability). But FS is Maddox true spot I believe. So for me the whole offseason was fairly blown. But it was hard to argue with bodies of work as a Philadelphia Eagles. Maddox deserved the job more tHan the others.

We need a difference maker at LB and we never get one

A tiny bit.he's like the queen,a figurehead.he hired these people to do a job and they are failing.Of course he's to blame for the hires, but still after the SB one MUST admit that was Reichs SB,noone elses. He has the colts ramping up.I'm starting to think coaching contracts should be 3 years.not 5.As we can see from a SB title to now it's only been 4 years and apparently Ped has a problem motivating his coaches? IDK but this is quite  quick fall from grace when players would play for less just to play here. Now they are like "ok whatever just pay me" lol

He's to blame because despite a majorly underwhelming career as GM Howie still remains in overall power. He shouldn't be anywhere near player personnel but he is.

Sadly I have the 9ers D in vs us.I hope I get my butt kicked,but.......I also snagged Hardman(on my bench)

Again no disagree Douglas was given nothing played good enough to be a starter damn sure played good enough to compete to be a starter but never got the chance... James was just favored by the staff I don’t even think he won the job from everything I read about the battle it was favoritism at its finest

UGH "in the hunt" means now "others teams need to lose too".Thats not the Philly I am used to0

Agholor in the first half, three catches on three targets for 37 yards.

I'd still rather have Ward, but where did the drops go?

In the hunt in our case just means... What an ish show our division is.

I try to look towards the future. I liked Groh. I think he’s a heck of a coach. Did great for us as WR coach. Took the fall for many of our issues is how I see it. Kind of reminds me of McDermott. Guy was just young and inexperienced. Maybe had a team dealt to him that wasn’t his choosing. And truth is his defense here wasn’t great. But sometimes you have to like through all that. I always knew he was a great coach. Meant for greatness. Nature...nurture...guy had it all. Took the fall for AR and our front office. Clearly nothing but a bad call. I’d argue he’s one of the best coaches in the league right now. Wasn’t really that long ago we forsaked(don’t think that’s a real word).....we abandon him. He wasn’t good enough to be out DC. Then he became a brilliant DC and then followed it up with dominating as a HC. He wasn’t given a great team as a HC. Easier to argue he took over a train wreck. Don’t think I’m alone now. I think most don’t even try to argue against him.
Anyway just don’t be a prisoner of the moment.

What has his secondaries done since coming here????
Schwartz has cycled through CBS and can’t find guys????
something is clearly wrong then even Slay is playing down from his usual self in Detroit

NRC overrated underrated whatever has sucked as soon as he enter our scheme

Darby was a promising young player comes here and sucks

Douglas flashed and if used the right why could have thrived as in Carolina now

If you can’t see that we have a serious issue under Schwartz with our secondary not sure what to say.

On the bight side, this should be out last pre-season game(MEH)

yeah sometimes it seems like he takes a concensus at the country club to see what players to get

Darby is playing really well in Washington right now as well.

Howie has to go. I hear people talk about how he should move aside on player personnel stuff but how would that even work? Like you all need to be in sync, how would Howie be in sync with someone doing the job he did and wants to do? It wouldn't work.

Spending 2nd and 3rd rounder on CBs, getting McLeod, trading a 3rd for Darby, 1st on Barnett, 4th on Sweat, signing Malik, trading for Jernigan... Signed his choices in Lbs in Bradham and Zach Brown(FO from what I heard wanted Jamie Collins but Schwartz got his way)

How exactly have you seen the D as second option if anything they gave Schwartz anything he wanted

But he also chanted the culture. I’m a fan of Lurie. I think he understands his role. He’s a winner. But he’s not the football mastermind. He continues to make good business decisions. Ok what you got to pay for a beer in stadium is ridiculous. But that’s a product of Lurie’s success I’d argue. But I love that our owner doesn’t try and take over and do everybody’s job. He has massive influence...buts it’s all behind the scenes. He doesn’t throw people under the bus....he doesn’t always crave the spotlight. I agree with his ownership style. He’s been innovative, philanthropic and writes those checks. He’s great for so many people. COVID hit....did you ever doubt he’d find a way to help? Never. Big check straight to guys to figure out how to fix things. The guy can get it done....no question.

Like Schwartz, hate Schwartz,we need someone new with fresh ideas/schemes.Someone who can mix it up,not have the same 4 look D's all game

This is also on top of Schwartz inheriting all pro fletcher Cox, PFF darling Graham, and Jenkins
