Russ is 33 got a 5 year extension on top of his what 2 years so he will be 40 when the contract ends…. Think playing it modest could easily see Russ playing at a high level at 38.

By the time he is 35 if they let him play out his deal how much you think the cost of QBs will raise by then????

Again 33 just isn’t old for QBs anymore. Guys that can win with there arms are easily playing at high levels into there late 30s pushing into there 40s

I don’t foresee the Eagles having any issues moving up the draft if that’s the route they decide to go.

I don’t see Hurts being the starter if he is mediocre this season in any way. He will either be the guy after this year or we will see a new starter.

What if the Saints pick 15 and we pick 22.

Top teams in the draft are... Houston,  Detroit, Atlanta,  Seattle, Giants, Carolina, Jets, Bears..

Do you think if those other teams need or want the QB that the 2 picks are enough to move up? Or would they just take the QB themselves?

And I'll add... could easily be a team in Top 4 not looking for a QB.   But let's say another team around 6 or 7 is... obviously teams are going to talk, you think there is a chance the top 4 team would prefer to only drop a couple spots instead of down to say 15?

I'm with you 99%... but I just don't think Howie and Lurie will mortgage the farm this time.  They would keep Hurts cheap 1 more year and try to look to the next draft.   Plus I think Hurts rushing ability will prevent him from being a disaster to where they are ok to keep building the roster another year before making the change.

But yeah... if it's not way to expensive to move up, they will do it next year.

But 100%... if Hurts don't get paid next offseason,  I don't see him sticking around long term.  He needs to earn the big money with his play THIS year.

Can play what ifs games all day no point in talking about my what if scenarios… also stated Hurts wouldn’t be the QB if he was mediocre didn’t state it had to be through the draft.

Can also easily make a case that Texans wont want a QB, Jets wouldn’t look for a new QB, Bears and Carolina(after the crazy amount why have dropped on guys). ATL could also be out on the QB market with Ridder who they just drafted.

So yea even in your what if scenario I could see 5 teams that would love to get there hands on extra picks to help rebuild their rosters more and already have young QBs

In 3 years, I don't think we see any more new QB contracts that are less than $50 mil per.

And if we are sitting at 15-22 that draft we are in the same situation  having to move up lol. Just because we push it back another year don’t just see us magically getting worse

Like I said ….they extended him for his late thirties. He was under contract through age thirty five.

Just a few years ago I was telling you how 50 mil contracts were right on the horizon

So again 35 would have still been playing at a high level what is that new deal looking like when you extend him for 3 more years or 5 more years….

Again easily see Russ playing at a high level one of the best QB in the game until 38-39 possibly even into his 40s.

He really hasn’t shown much drop off even with a hurt hand he had 3k passing 25tds 6 ints in 14 games. Year before he had 4k 40tds.

Ok...so big picture.

Teams doing worse than the Eagles this year.   With a perceived worse QB...  because again I am saying Hurts will be mediocre, not new contract worthy.

So we would be in theory closer to being a contender than the other teams, have a better QB in place... but yet we would give up picks to get a QB,  and desire that stud rookie QB more than them?

Idk... I think it's a stretch.  I'm just rooting for the Saints to lose so it's a better chance.

Idk which veteran we would get either??  I think it pretty much needs to be the draft.  It's more Lurie and Howie to find the new guy.

Right...  but you know they like to manage the cap.   Hurts is a favorite in the locker room.  There are other things in play.

Anyway... let's see what happens.  We will get a better feel once the season ends and we see all the cards.

Lol , other way around... wow you are  liar now too.

When I made the point that $30 mil for a starting QB was going to be a bargain after our last QB signed... you were laughing at me when I said $50 mil with new CBA / revenue.     Stop it now.  Losing even the little respect I had for you.

Jets who just invest heavily in a QB, Bears who just invested in a QB, Texans who had a QB play equally as well as Hurts on a far worse team. Baker who you could say was at the same level that the Panthers just invested in.

So big picture could I see teams that like there QBs more then the Eagles wanting more picks to help build the rest of there team vs drafting another QB yes I could see that outcome.

Could I see the Eagles probably giving up to much to secure a QB if they don’t pay Hurts yes I can see that as well.

What I can’t see is us staying in the same position if Hurts shows no growth and waiting another year when we are sitting in the same spot 15-22 in the draft. So yes I think the Eagles either believe Hurts extend him or we see a new starter next year either draft or vet. Whoever we can get

I was clearly stating how 50 mil contracts are coming

I was getting laughed at by the whole board. I was showing how clearly inflation was making this inevitable

I'm ok disagreeing on this.  Because for me it's almost there... just again don't think we overspend, yet those other teams are going to pass on a QB because of Wilson, Fields, Mills, Goff, the dude in ATL.    If they see these guys play poorly,  they are in the same situation.   If Hurts doesn't get a pass, neither should those QBs.

You have no credibility left with your BS

I'm laughing at you lying right now, because I don't remember anyone laughing at it.  I saw the older dudes make points about how entitled they think the players are getting this type of money...but on this board, never remember anyone laughing?

Wilson, Fields, Mills,

Wilson who the jets just gave up how much for to get??? After two years just quit???? Fields who the bears just gave up how much for after 2 years just quit????? Mills again terrible team Texans are just horrible and I’d still say he was as good if not better then Hurts last year but of a projection for me on him but yea think he will play his way up to keep the job.

Yea maybe they shouldnt get a pass but how many teams truly give up on high draft picks QB after that kind of invest after only 2 years

Agree...I have no credibility on planet Ham.

You told me how Wentz contract would be seen as a great deal for a starter soon enough.   That was all you.

Basically Hurts is getting 2 years isn't he?

How much draft capital did we give up again on Hurts??? Vs what Jets gave for Wilson and the bears for Fields???

Idk I haven’t seen many teams just scrap a QB they invested multiple first rounders in after 2 years.

Right or wrong NFL politics at work for Wilson and Fields

I don't think the Jets or Bears would look for QB....but I do think Detroit,  Houston, ATL and Giants will.  Carolina might too.  That's really enough to make it hard to move up.

Hell the only 1st round QB I can recall a team just giving up on after 1 year was the Cards with Rosen and they drafted Murray.

I agree with those 2 specific teams.
