I think he’s being signed. But he could garner a significant compensatory pick if we just played out his last season.

Yep, that's always part of HR's mindset. It may seem like dirty pool at times, but it's part of the game building and replenishing a team. Downside is if the rep gets bad team/players will have 2nd thoughts dealing w/ us. So we have to come thru sometimes. It's been easy not paying a QB.

I don’t see Hurts being the starter if he is mediocre this season in any way. He will either be the guy after this year or we will see a new starter. 

3 Excellent QB's on the draft board next year(and I believe the FO knows it). IDK what they set their bar at, but I know its one you have to jump over, not limbo under like Hams. I want Hurts to succeed(despite Ham claiming differently). He doesn't need to be the best QB in the league,because he will never get there anyway. Show me adept decision making, accurate passing and I am fine with him running on a few called plays. I want to see multiple reads in 3 seconds and getting the ball out by then. I want to see this consistently and improve even more as the season wears on. I want to see all the people we invested in get stats they deserve ant not GL ball hogging by Mr Do it all myself. We got the players,the talent and the silver plate with all that on it and handed it to Hurts. I was at 10 wins even before the moves we made,I am now at 11 and there is no reason under the sun why we should settle for less
