is that Hurts ball hogs again or only targets his buddy and leaves the others hang out to dry.

Not to worried about the targets the game plan was definitely designed to get Brown the ball. Lot of his targets came on designed plays like a screen or off the RPO where he was the slant read.
The trio of Geodart, Gains and Smith all had 4 targets if you take out the plays where Brown was the only read he probably only had like 6-7 targets.

Definitely should have concerns about the running though and the number of hits Hurts took. We have seen throughout NFL history that that QB taking all those hits don’t tend to last many can’t finish seasons. Even a guy like Allen who is far bigger struggled early on with health. Then of course you have guys like Vick and Tyrod etc.

Hurts probably took what 30-40+ hits today from running and just standing in the pocket from blitzes and stuff. Can’t expect him to stay upright 17 games with that kind of beating

Just re-watched the game….always different when you know the outcome….you watch different aspects.

* The O Line had some serious miscommunications and failures on blitz recognition.

* I will restate that Hurts played well. Not outstanding, but well.

* Defense allowed WAY too many third down conversions….some were run gashes on 3rd and long! Lions’ O Line is really good. Playcalling on runs up the middle combined with blocking scheme was really, really good.

* DLine was disappointing. I confirmed what I saw live.

PS:

boohoo. Suck it cowpies! I detest that team. Watch how fast Zeke QUITS now that Dak is out.

Overreaction Monday…maybe: Carson Wentz is the best QB in the division and COULD be the favorite to win the division.

Vikes are for real. Packers played poorly….thanks to a Vikings mauling!

1-0..  Dallas in last place.

Only thing is the Saints with that game winning FG after ATL had a big lead.

Watch that cost us like 5 slots in the draft 😡

Think it’s tough to have to pickup 6-7 guys when you only have 5 guys blocking…. Would have liked to see the coaching staff use some plays to help slow down and counter the blitz.

Also from listening to the game it was apparently extremely loud in the stadium so likely did mess some with the communication.

I did think going into this season that Washington would likely be our biggest competition for the East. They won 7 games with backup QBs playing all year. Wentz is definitely an upgrade from what they have had.

Outside of that Washington has good skill positions. Scary Terry is in the convo for best WR in the East. Front 7 if healthy is definitely the best in the East.

Yeah I didnt get the game was just following the play by play and looked at stat lines. yeah and RG3 was another runner. I was glad AJ produced what we paid him for,but still a bit concerning Quez got nothing, pascal 1,Smith 4 with zero receptions(I know one was a drop what were the others? misses by Hurts?) I'm just saying if you ignore the other guys for an extended time you will breed dissatisfaction and we don't need to add that to the list of issues. The target share would be on siri then if you think that was the game plan. And it's only 1 game here,so I will wait to see if Hurts spreads the ball around more. it can't be the Hurts running show and 1 WR,we need everyone involved so I will be looking for that going forward

Barkley played really well vs Tenn. He looked like he was back to his old form again and IMO he is better than Swift,so we need to be ready for him when we play them. Gannon has some tweaking to do. The O will get better. If not for the pick 6 we would have lost. I was a bit shocked the D got pummeled like they did and gave up 35. Bottom line- Detroits 1/2 time adjustments were better than Siri's. Glad we could hang on for the W

Partly yea…. The designed screen plays to brown obviously he is getting the target same with the RPO. AJ is the pass read on the play so if Hurts opts to pass it’s going to AJ

The more traditional drop backs for Hurts seemed to spread the ball more evenly.

I paid for the new NFL premium service they have like 10 bucks a month. Don’t get to watch live out of market games but do get watch the game afterwards. I fell asleep not sure how quickly they go on replay though but game ended at what like 4 and I woke up at 8pm and it was available to me.
Actually way nicer then I thought it was going to be got to watch the entire game with no breaks only took 45mins. Seen every snap

LMAO so what do you think would happen????? Try logic for a change. It would be logical to assume(whether you said it or not because with what you said the logic cannot be denied) that if you take the S you DO NOT GET DAVIS. Why do you not understand this???? My 2 first picks that I vacillated on were Davis and Olave,so we took Davis in lieu of Olave, then instead of Olave we made the trade for AJ with a 1 pick and parlayed that into an extra round 1 next year. Your picks would yield a S and Karlaftis(no Davis,No AJ) and we would still be stuck with your other boy Reagor because we had no other WR's. it;s pretty easy to follow

I can’t just keep over and over again explaining this to you for any more weeks. We had 3 first round picks. So I’m just going to have to let you continue to not understand and misquote me. None of what you are saying, I said, is accurate. After fifty times of explaining to you and you still don’t comprehend….I have to move on.I tried.

Why did it hit him in the helmet, shouldn't the pass be in the breadbasket? There will be drops, noone is perfect but please stop the damn excuses. 56% completion rate is NOT NFL caliber(and even YOU know it)

Vikes looked really solid. They will be tough

Hurts carried our team.

My concern(and its only 1 game) is that Hurts ball hogs again or only targets his buddy and leaves the others hang out to dry. This will create static in the WR room and it won't take long to manifest.A real leader will give everyone a chance. Smith can be a really nice WR but not if he is never targeted. So we'll see going forward what happens because we arent going anywhere with the Hurts panic circus run, single read and 1 WR who's his friend. I was happy to see Sanders contribute

Really sucks that Hurts brought over his friend that is clearly the best player on the team.

Or a hot dog and fifth round pick

Hurts is a great GM.  Manages the cap well too.   He shouldn't have traded away the third 1st round pick though.

We need to relax. We were not the only team that did not play well due to lack of PS snaps. Andy Reid always gets his team in shape and that showed yesterday. They were burning on all cylinders. Green Bay looked bad. So did SF, Tenn, Indy and the Rams all played poorly and mostly due to lack of snaps in the PS. Also, we were dead tired in the 3rd quarter. The whole team was out of shape. You had to notice they played well after that first drive into the third quarter..... One thing Ham was correct on is that the play calling attributed to hurts running. RPO has to go!  We need designed run plays. We have to design plays to get Smith and Goedert more involved. That is not on hurts, but the coaching staff.

Look, it was week 1. We need to work out some stuff on both sides of the ball. I refuse to make rash judgments based on week one and so should everyone else. I knew this board was going to complain for the most part as soon as I saw a designed run for Hurts on the first play of the game! What does that call do for Hurts Mindset? What is wrong with Siri? Why call that play?

On the defense, they were just out of gas midway thru the 3rd and it showed. There were some good plays I saw from a few players. Epps, Edwards, White and a couple others made some plays. The tackling was terrible! Play Calling was terrible. But we won in spite of that. This was why I was concerned about this game. It does not matter how good the other team is. You still need to execute. Hutchinson is a solid player! Anyway, I am done now. Go ahead and say what you want, but bottom line is we need to watch the film and make adjustments for Minn. We need to practice tackling. We need to figure out a way to stop Jefferson. We need to figure out a way to apply pressure on Cousins....

Or I see an old fashioned butt whooping coming...

Eagles win, Cowpies lose and lose Prescott for a number of weeks.

It doesn't get much better

And BTW, I expected the Lions to be much improved

The NFL dot com site is pathetic

They still don't have the stats posted for the Eagles gme

This won’t happen not with Hurts at QB at least… Siri and Steichen specifically added and learned about RPOs to help Hurts play to his strengths.

We have a running QB of course they are going to design runs for him(though it was a read option Hurts opted to keep the ball he could have handed it to the RB) not all that shocking. But you do have to have that concern about the sheer amounts of hits he is taking.

I mean Hurts probably got hit what 30+ times vs Detroit that a lot for any player in one game.

Dak getting a pin & plate, expected to miss 6 - 8 wks

Then I think we need to be less critical of Hurts running as much as he does. If the coaching staff encourages it how can we pick on the fact he tucks the ball and runs? The coaching staff needs to design plays to the WR's and less RPO's. Plus it makes our O-Line less effective. Not knowing if they are running or passing has to take the edge off. It may play to Hurts strength, but it will not allow him to improve his passing game.

Believe they wanted Davis to get eased into the pro game. Only 22 snaps but he was more effective than some who played more.

The entire D needs to work on tackling!

Poor sports fans bood and threw trash at Dak after injury.

Siri said they practiced w/ loud music but it was nothing like the crowd noise and he'll speak w/ the sound techs
