Steve Young on  Monday Night Football talking about how many teams came out out of sync looking rusty because they don’t play in the PS. He explained playing this team game is like a dance steps….the more you do it…then more in sync it gets. Steve Young and myself differ from this board on that clearly.

I agree with this point. Many HOFs say the first month of the season is like an extension of preseason because it takes time to get in sync.

Fyi: Detest the Cowpies. Boohoo. Dak was playing poorly BEFORE he got hurt. And I was so happy when Jerry opened his checkbook for Dak. Average QB on a BIG salary! Cooper Rush is about the same talent. Ok. MAYBE that’s a stretch. MAYBE.

I don’t like either team playing tonight (most people here in Boise are a fan of one of these two teams and it is nauseating….Boise is not Denver and sure as HELL NOT Seattle), so I couldn’t care less who wins….but it is kind of funny watching Geno Smith’s team hanging with Russell Wilson’s team. I mean, EVERYONE wrote OFF the seachickens when Russ left.

Say what you want about Singleton, but the dude is ALWAYS around the football. I liked him as an Eagle.

Just don’t trade with the Saints….simple. Not giving back anybody. Just adding another guy right now…instead of waiting a year for really no reason.

You always conveniently skip the 3rd round pick this year and the 2nd in 2024...lol

Hold on here. Im going to politely disagree GBNC. I understand basic math, but a LOT of other decisions would have come into play withOUT the pick 6.

OK you can disagree, but how many points did the D allow? If it was like 17 then you would have an arguement, but they gave up 35 so without adding the 6 points for the pick 6, the D would have lost the game for us.Score would have been 35-32(if you give the XP to the offense 38-6=32) so the pick 6 saved the day for the defense no?

Why would I give back AJ or Davis? Three first round picks. Davis wasn’t my top guy. But just trade back with the third first rounder and take a S or Pass rusher. Dax snd Karlaftis I was high on. Jermaine Jones was there also. But the other factor is we don’t enable the Saints to push that WR run and take Olave by trading up again. So that was possibly a double whammy bad trade there for us.

SO we got AJ for something less than a round 1???? How can you NOT see this???? No you want AJ AND the 3 round 1 picks and that is NOT happening. C'mon dude! Really doesn't matter who you were high on,it's who Howie is high on. SO you can admit my 2 top guys were the 2 top guys for us not because we GOT Davis and we traded my boy Olave(the pick) to to get AJ which I was fine with BTW. So I CALLED IT!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Don’t misinterpret this, as I think Davis MAY OR MAY NOT work out, but he made ONE play and got dominated on about 20 others…meaning he is part of the reason the Lions had some success running. Again, the Lions OLine is REALLY good. So do not think I am bagging on Davis. I am a huge Fletcher Cox fan and he got handled a LOT also.

He's a KID and he 's only been in the NFL for 3 months!!! You can't expect pro bowl play even out of a round 1 pick in 3 months. The fact he played at ALL showed that we have confidence in him already???

Yes it's been said annually since time began. This year isn't any different

Geno looked really good which surprised me quite a bit. Hawks D was in Wilsons face alot of the game

I’d say the thinking would be that our dominating rushing attack should open up the passing game. But clearly Detroit has issues against the run…just like we do. You’d be a fool if you stopped running the ball against Detroit yesterday. How many yards did we rush for? It was a ton…..four different players scored rushing also. It’s not like we didn’t throw the ball either. Our O put up a ton of yards behind QB1 yesterday.

You missed the point of the post completely if your going to comment on it at least talk on the point.
at no point did I say we should have stopped the ground game nor do I think we should not keep leaning on it throughout the season.
What I do believe just like last year we will run into a team that will stop the rush ie Bucs last year or NYG. How will the team fair if/when that happens

Love how you want to give Qb1 the credit for things when it goes right but when other blame QB1 for things you go into excuse mode. If your giving credit to QB 1 then you have to point the blame on him as well can’t have it one way:

You need to stop drinking all that Hurtsade and be able to look at things objectively.

You can call me a hater all you want as well but I praised Hurts for what he did well vs Detroit and voiced legit concerns for this team going forward if you can’t do that there is a problem. Can’t just follow blindly. Hurts is the QB I can recall people are putting blind faith in and can’t see the flaws. Talked the negatives on Mcnabb, Vick, Foles, Wentz and things we needed to see improvement on all the time

But hurts excuses left and right anything for why it isn’t his fault

IMO.... first game playing in the 2022 style of NFL, with the less work in the offseason now, plus no current year film on your opponent week 1.    I always look at it to just win the game.  Not worried about how.

Do I like giving up 35....no.   Do I like my QB running 17 times and completing only 18 passes.... no.    But do what you gotta do to get to 1-0 and come out healthy as possible.

Then we move on and worry about style points later.  Really I feel this way about the first half or even first 10-12 weeks.  Just get the win.  Style points matter more at the end going into the playoffs where you want to be sharp.

https://thedraftnetwork.com/vikings-vs-eagles-2022-monday-night-football-opener/   This is not Detroit. We're on the big stage Monday night. They have a ton of talent. D line was tough vs the Pack and got to ARod often, but he is not a runner. I'm thinking more designed roll outs and yes a few QB draws early to slow down their over pursuit. And this game we should really see Hurts open up the passing game. No need to judge him much on game 1. They know what needs cleaned up and the D has major work to do to prep for the VIkes offense. basically they were embarrassed in Detroit ,but the Vikes are seriously much better. JJ is a stud.I would have a few staffers just to figure out how we can slow him down. We need to clean up the tackling, that is one way to help not allowing YAC's. I very much see a similar game to Detroit as far as it being an offensive show. That is why I was disappointed in the pass distribution vs them. Against the Vikes Hurts must show us he can do 2,3,4 reads and get the ball away because he's going to HAVE to.This is the stuff we and Howie need to see(and I get this game). Dalvin Cook can play and Thielen is no slouch, we have to tighten this up and that is tough to do after only 1 week, but I gotta say the Vikes vs GB looked like they had practiced 15 times, they all looked sharp and we're going to have to match that. If a last year non contending team put up 35 on us(yes I understand this is a new year before everyone goes off) it's going to be a long day vs the Vikes. I want to add here though that talent wise we are as good, where we lack vs them is experience. JJ has been lighting it up since his very first catch and I doubt we're going to limit him alot. Thielen I think we can cover ok. They throw out alot of different looks with Cook. Seems vs GB they used the B gap more than the A. We're going to need our O line to stuff those running lanes and the LB's to seal the ends. it's going to be a tough game for our defense. Fortunately we have the talent to match scores with them and we need to keep this close.Home field helps although it seems we play better away,or have before. I hope they put in extra time to watch the GB plays made and how to do better than GB did. They are good vs the run even though GB managed to run on them some. Our WR corps is much better than what ARod had,so with that in mind, this is a game for me when I need to see Hurts take a step. I'm not expecting him(yet) to leap up 12 stairs to the landing, but I DO expect him to take a few steps up in his game towards that goal. I am once again concerned about the lack of pass rush,so I hope Gannon is burning midnight oil watching game film because we can't give up all the things we gave up in Detroit. Offense needs to open it up(because we don't have a choice) and the D needs alot of tightening up. I would love to be optimistic, but honestly I don't think we have this together enough yet to beat them. I hope Hurts doesn't get himself hurt this game.................. Vikes 38 Eagles 31(sorry it's not the 32 Ham expects because that was my target GOAL,but I will take 31 vs an excellent team), but we play well in the loss and that's all we can expect. By seasons end we should be alot better with all the newbies we have, but I don't think we are ready yet,so I will give the Vikes the win in this one

Got pushed around? How about this stat; with Davis on the field, Detroit yards per rush was 2.9. With Davis on the sidelines,  Detroit yards per rush was 10. So I guess Davis got pushed around so much Detroit could not run the ball?

It could happen. Vikes are good!

Out of gas? Have you personally attended an NFL game? With all of the TV timeouts, the players stand around a LOT. AND THE DEFENSE WAS BARELY on the field for most of the first half. If they were out of gas, they need to RUN…..AND A LOT! Haha.

Yes, other than that first 9 play drive, the Eagles Defense played well the first half. It was the third quarter that Detroit started wearing them down and they were flat towards the end of the third. Yes there are TV timeouts, but you think that every defense should not be tired because of it? Really? Apparently every one else is wrong that defenses get warn down in the second half. Why should they? TV Timeouts give them plenty of rest!

Agreed Joe! Just let this game go and move on. Fix the O-Line blocking (Which I feel will happen starting this week). Pressure the QB, Do not let Jefferson kill you! This will be the hardest issue. Limit Hurts rushing attempts to 10 or less. I heard Siri say that he plans on running Hurts as much as he needs to, to win the game. Not happy with that comment as Hurts slides too late and does not avoid contact like Siri seems to believe. Get the other WR's involved. 4 targets to Smith and 0 to Watkins will not do it against the Vikings.

Look, The Vikings are a good team with a decent QB. But I do not feel their O-Line or their D-Line is as good as Detroits is. They do have a much better WR corps and Cousins is much better than Goeff.

I loved the third and goal run stuffing. They scored on 4th but not bad for a rook eh? he's gonna be great in time

Yep as I said it cant be the Hurts running circus show and 1 read to 1 WR show. I'm happy AJ got his stats, but vs the Vikes we need to get them all involved which I thought we would do vs Lions just to see how the whole machine ran. Nice to see Sanders contribute. My boy Jefferson is a stud, they will play him all over and find our weak spot. he is brutal from any spot on the field. We're gonna have a tough time with him. Last night I was also impressed with Jeudy. although Wilson was struggling last night.

People on here are not giving Detroit enough credit. First, Their O-Line is very Good. Some say a top 5 unit. Their D-Line is not bad either. With the Addition of Hutchinson it will present problems for allot of clubs. Yes The QB and WR's are much better in Minn. But to say Detroit was terrible may not be as factual as we all first thought. Of course it is early, so we all need to hold off on our assumptions for a few more weeks.

Also, I expect our O-Line not to play nearly as bad this week. I also hope that Gannon does a better job pressuring the QB Monday. Playing Davis a bit more will keep the Rushing yards down. We will have to out score them. Not sure if this can be done or not....

Song from old friends that I hope pertain to my Eagles 1-0

I’m saying it should take such a commitment to do that….whereas the passing game should be there.

But who needs a pass rusher that generates six QB pressures his first game in the league?

I’m sure we’ll get much better in the grass is greener future first rounder.
