I loved the trade. Think I’m the one that went crazy the most when it happened. Feels like Hurts bailed us out of that situation. FA didn’t work out at the position. But also saw the need for the trade because we let the Saints start a WR run…by trading up again. I more just would have preferred keeping all our three first rounders. My idea was trade back 19 to 26ish though instead. Pick up a third rounder at least for that. I also would have liked to go even further. Trade draft picks from 2023 to add even more this year. Picks this year still help next and after also.

You and No Mas looking at the trade one way ….I’m looking at it another. Guess everybody gets their opinions. We just traded up two spots last year with the Cowboys in the first. Not sure why using that comparison is wrong. We traded back two spots this time. Price should be nearly the same, right? Figured it was an easy enough reference for everybody since our team was involved and it was just last season.

Forget opinions.    The Facts... we traded 194 and 19 for 237 and 18.   That's a wash.   We got 3 picks for 1 in the deal... 2022 3rd, 2023 1st and 2024 2nd.

That's the fact.   It's not " I look at it like the Cowboys trade, that's completely BS and distortion of Facts.     It's not just a 2024 2nd rounder either.

You can base any opinion you want...but base it off of the Facts.

You theorize that we could have traded down to 26... that's your opinion.  The fact is that weeks prior to the draft that this Saints package was offered to us.    That's fact.  Not opinion.

3 picks for one... and if at the time prior to the draft we told you that we would end up with Dean, plus an extra 1st and 2nd... there was no way you could BS anyone on here that you would say no to that.

Yet you still refuse to name a player that you would have drafted instead of having Dean and the 2 picks.

So will draft picks of 2022 help going forward in those years also?

Yes...the 3rd round pick of Dean... in theory is supposed to help.  Weeks prior to the draft if anyone told you we would have drafted him at 19 or 26 and came out with an additional 1st and a 2nd... there is no way you would have not liked the deal.

Nobody believes a word of your spin here. Stop already.

You had the bar low for the season,  you wanted to make the playoffs...that's it.  Now you are trying to spin other stuff now.  Nobody is buying.

We gave up a sixth in that trade also. They added in a seventh. Small potato part of that trade…but just having picks to be able to deal sometimes is valuable.

Yes.... that's the part of the trade that allowed us to move up from 19 to 18... that's the value of that.  According to the draft chart...we won that part.

Cowboys picked up Hankins to be a run stuffer. Clearly they didn’t appreciate Kelce telling them " you know what’s coming” and we still QB sneak it on them

Well if you asking my opinion…I’ve said time and time again what I wanted to do…the whole time.

So what did we trade the cowboys to move up two spots in 2021? It was a third rounder. So what’s so different about the idea of the Saints one year later giving us a third to move up two spots?

18 to 16….what would we get with that trade alone?

I think Daxton Hill the 4.3 forty S was probably the call though.

He went to Cincy …so that’s 31

  • Author

I’ve said Hill’s name at least a half a dozen times. Anybody here back me up on that? Not sure how I’ve never named anybody. Actually mentioned two DE also since you can’t just trade back and expect one single player to fall right to you moving that far.

Pure spin bs. You guys didn’t want to make the playoffs last season. I was all about gaining the experience. Practically the only one here that believed. Only one believed on trading Wentz. Only one that believed in Hurts. So no way I just wanted to make the playoffs this year. I stated we were a solid second tier team. That if the top teams suffered more injuries than us…we could level the playing field. Did I believe 6-0 would happen? No….did not

Why can’t I look at the trade my way? I’m saying we got the Saints slightly better than we paid ourselves the draft before. We went 12 to 10. Paid a third. They went 18 to 16 ….paid a third. Why is this a wrong way of looking at this part?

Explain why I can’t see it my way?

  • Author

My way of seeing the trade…we got just slightly better value than the cowboys. But the cowboys knew they’d get Parsons anyway. So that trade they won by even getting a fifth.

  • Author

The cowboys knew exactly who we were taking. Probably even confirmed our pick before accepting the trade.

  • Author

So you don’t agree with my view point on the trade. How much less do you think the Saints would pay to move up from 18 to 16? We paid a third rounder for 12 to 10 mins you.

Seems like all these contending teams every year trade their future picks to get better right now. Why couldn’t we? I wanted to get very aggressive for this season. Do it by adding to our young core mostly though. Dump the ideas of how old and slow we were just a few seasons ago. I’ve been pushing to get faster all around since 2019…especially.

  • Author

How can you have super high expectations for a young team that you gave away a first round pick on.  The other contenders and past top teams trade future picks for now…total opposite. Seems so simple to me. Not sure why I’m the only one. Well ‘58 seems to sort of agree also.

  • Author

I wonder how many teams won a SB and gave away their first round pick that year? Conference Championship games even? I actually doubt many have traded away a first round pick and won a playoff game.

Now let’s compare teams that trade away a future pick and won in the postseason.

With the three 30-plus yard TDs, Burrow has tossed 49 touchdown passes since the start of last season with an average of 27.6 yards per score. The last passer to average 27-plus yards per TD pass over a two-year span was Randall Cunningham in 1998-1999 (27.9 average on 42 TDs).

You tell me.  Do you think we could get a 3rd, a 1st and a 2nd?  That's what we got in the trade.  3 picks for 1.  Spin it however you like....it doesn't change.

Hall for 3 picks...  does he start then?  Or do we make the trade for Gardner ?

Too many ifs... what wasn't an if...was the Saints offer at the time.  That was all known and not theory or opinion.

You were butt hurt about the people getting excited that the extra picks were to replace the QB.   Whom you thought it wasn't fair to ask him to be an MVP candidate with his stellar supporting cast.  You thought it was ridiculous the expert who said " if we knew the QB would be good then we would be talking about a contender "

You wanted the bar set low and everything yo be mortgaged so Hurts would get the job.

No shot if Hurts was already locked in that you wouldn't love the trade like everyone else, including non Eagles fans who thought the Saints overpaid for pick 16.

Think our offense has the fewest turnovers through six games in like franchise history

All I heard on here was their logic was to get the extra pick next year and maybe the second rounder….so they could draft a QB.

  • Author

I wasn’t butt hurt. But that was the main reason you guys all seemed to say. But not needing a QB that we had to mortgage tons of picks for ….then why did we need the trade? Doesn’t make nearly as much sense now.
