Admittedly IDK how tough it is for a LT to become a RT. There ARE differing nuances to both sides. I was looking at draftees that already play RT. There are 2 that interest me. Dawand Jones from OSU and Jaxson Kirkland from Washington. I would select Jones in round 2 as Lanes' heir. If Lane Goes another year NP he can still get some reps in. if Lane calls it quits,he(Jones) should be ready to start. I have no clue what Howie does but I think Murphy will be our first pick. The 2nd round 1 IDK

Guess what? Howie doesn't know at this juncture either what the Eagles will do in the draft.

Thought the Phillies were toast in the 3rd

Guess what? I have chosen Howies position picks 4 years in a row 😁 Not my fault he stupidly took Reagor over JJ, otherwise I would have had the exact 4 players 4 times in a row (ask anyone on here). I knew Howie would take Dillard, but really was not a fan of that pick. I had both Davis and Olave as our 1 pick last year, went back and forth because we needed to fill both positions, but the AJ deal solved that issue and Davis it was. If we had taken JJ and Smith, then Davis was an easy choice, because we would not have needed AJ (in theory). So,whatever. Barring a major injury, Howie will look to start replacing aging linemen and if the assumption is we will pick at 4,5, then Murphy is the obvious BPA at THIS POINT

Said earlier I'd like to bring McLeod back, better than Wallace was in relief when Gardner went out

Wallace flat out sucks! If the Eagles lose a S or two, that position is in trouble. I feel the same way about CB.

I think he does that due to his QB.   Hurts IMO might be best Philly QB I've seen ( only go back to Jaws) as fat as throwing a 3 yard pass and hitting dude in stride.

I'm sure a Hurts stan will take that as an insult....but I'm serious in saying Cunningham, McNabb, Vick, Wentz...for all their physical gifts throwing the ball.. all disappointed me in making the simple throw a HS QB can make.    It's frustrating seeing a WR slow down and be forced to catch the pass and be tackled right away, when the opportunity was there to make a simple throw and get a decent gain.   Hurts is very consistent on those slants and bubble screens that allow his WR to gain extra yards.    Foles probably the closest of the recent Eagles QBs on those plays.

McNabb was the worst of those. I cannot even count the number of short throws over the middle where McNabb hit the WIDE OPEN WR in the foot. Oh my gosh! Drove me crazy!

One down…3 to go!

Nor 2019, 2020 or last year? The Eagles are 12-20 without Johnson.

Yeah... this OL from 2022 is the one that matters.  Best in the league and deepest.

Howie is freaking amazing. Basically we are owning him for 10 games and post season with no other committment. IDK why he would agree to this but Howie is amazing LOL

To get out of Chicago...and his money wasn't guaranteed from the Eagles.  So it made sense for him.

Yeah, they need to figure this out ASAP because we're going to have to pay Hurts it looks like

Not really...Hurts under contract next year... he will get extended,  but nothing will count vs next years cap ad far as big hit. They will use it as a year to soak up some signing bonus... and it will be done in a way they can get out of the contract before the big cap hit occurs.

That's the advantage of doing it prior to last year of the contract.

We invest in our Oline with getting the top coach, draft picks and cap dollars. First round pick as our backup LT. Second round backup C. Fourth round backup RT.

So again...you saying nobody invested 2 first round picks since 2013 in their OL?

We got our OL coach in 2013. What is the extra " investment " there?

Wow...a 4th round investment in OL with Driscoll.  So much invested.

So again...since 2013.. you are saying no team invested 2 firsts, two 2nds and 3rd in their OL?   10 drafts we are talking with only 5 picks before the 4th round?

Who was the big money free agent?  Brooks?  One guy in 2016.

So 10 years ...5 draft picks in top 3 rounds and 1 free agent.    That's so much investment?

Lane, Kelce and Mailata getting paid handsomely. Seumalo isn’t cheap.

So nobody else puts money in their OL?  You make it seem like that's why we have the best OL...because we go way beyond what everyone else does and we sacrifice other spots for it?

I don't see it that way.   I see 2 older guys maintaining top level play.  A nice pick with Dickerson who fell due to college injury.  And some guys the excellent coach for the past decade has developed.   I'm giving the organization , the coach and the players credit for this stud unit that is in place.  Not simply an over investment at the position.

It is not my intent to bash fellow Eagles lovers. I just intended to add clarity and clear-up any misunderstandings. Also, provide some personal observations.

1. Joe Banner was President of the Eagles util 2012. He is a childhood friend of Jeff Lurie (owner since 1994). Howie joined the Eagles in 2000 and was promoted to GM in 2010 and bounced around under Chip Kelly until his demise. Andy Reid had major sway in the roster composition during his reign.

2. Brian Dawkins, Troy Vincent and Bobby Taylor were all veteran pro-bowlers. in 2002.

3. Andy had a hand in drafting 3 highly rated defensive backs in 2002. They all were rotated into the backfield and took over in 2004 (Super Bowl).

4. Lito Sheppard starred on the Eagles for 7 seasons.

5. 2002 is the only time in following the Eagles for 60 years that I have ever seen them take such an interest in the defensive backfield.

6. The Eagles have subsequently taken several stabs in the draft to improve the position - to no avail.

7. Bradberry has been Godsend, but he is on a 1-year contract agreement.

8. Cornerback is possibly the next highest valued roster position after LT and DE.

9. Going back to my original comment regarding the 2023 draft, after DE, I felt that OT and/or CB were the next priorities.

10. There are numerous reasons why the Eagles have relied on FA and trades to fill holes in the secondary. However, I feel that the best long-term solution is to address this thru the draft.

#10...can be said for every position.

I would say DL as top priority, I wouldn't limit it to DE.   Cox and Hargrave are both not under contract next year and both aren't spring chickens anymore.

My hope..they continue to go after the player, not the position.   I think they were smart the last 2 drafts doing it that way.  Dillard, Reagor, ...seemed like they forced the position.   While I prefer DL... if a CB is there that is a game changer, make the pick.

Right, but I believe the decision will be made this year and I believe we sign him after this season. Of course you are right and we could wait until next year, but I don't see that

Especially with a RB like Westbrook coming out of the backfield.  Dude lost so much YAC playing with #5... regardless of how much he will always be loved.

GB...follow me here.  They can give contract #2 after this year... use 2023 as the final year of contract 1 ... new contract would be an " extension " that starts in 2024.   Where the $$ and cap hits begin to take place.

IMO Reagor wasn't a forced pick, they had the position right, just took the wrong player

And they can set it up where any real big cap hit can be delayed until 2025.  Set it up where they can get out of it if needed prior to start of 2025.  I fully expect that.  Then if Hurts proves to be the guy at the next level..they can redo prior to 2025 and lower the cap hit again.

Sounds like a plan, because we signed AJ for 4 years,so that fits into the big picture. Smith will still be on rook pay so will Davis. If we can nail this draft and at least do "ok" in the '24 draft we should be alot younger where paying Hurts won't be so bad. I'm seeing how Howies machine works and how the cogs get replaced without stopping the machine. I'm no contract whiz, but I can see how things fit together better now. I also mentioned long ago Howie needed to lose his '"ego picks" and I believe he has done that. I believe he is taking other peoples opinion in and not trying to outsmart everyone(including himself). The last 2 drafts have been terrific

Right...  forced at WR.  Unless you think there weren't other players between the level of JJ and Reagor?    They forced WR without a doubt....taking the wrong guy was the second part of the decision.  I don't think Smith was forced, I think they just liked him best at that spot.  I don't think Davis was forced, they just liked him...same with Dickerson and the C they took this year.

Now I'm not saying that selecting JJ wouldn't have been worth forcing WR... I'm just saying it's obvious the main part of Reagor being the choice was his position....I really can't believe that they thought Reagor was better than all the other players at every other position too?  Do you?
