but that's really not his game.He seems to be Houdini getting away from defenders.I call him athletic, but not really mobile running.

You never watched Wentz in college did you or healthy in 2017.... His legs has always been a weapon no he isn’t Lamar Jackson he is more the realm of Mahomes/Rodgers

Wentz is a guy that ran a 4.77 40 at 6’5 240 in comparison Mahomes ran a 4.8

We were just trying to be NOT predictable

We have getting Hurts on the field more and more it isn’t just not being predictable he is becoming part of our offense.

Wondering if one of those could/would play as a BU RIGHT T behind Lane.Driscoll did ok,just wondering whomever didnt get the nod could play both spots

Think Driscoll is perfectly fine being the RT backup.... If Mailata were to win the LT job next season I’d just keep Dillard as the primary LT backup just a disaster when he tried to play RT his rookie year... If they flip Dillard is the starter strong chance Mailata could just become the top T backup especially if he keeps improving this season.

Added note I really hope he keeps improving and pushes JP out of the LT job.... Move JP back to RG for Pryor

Wentz was obviously a lot better in this game, but he is still missing a lot of throws and hesitating. He has got to trust his receivers more.

Just going to take time.... He really hasn’t had the time with these guys like in a normal year.... Even in the limited camp how much was he actually throwing to Hightower and these other PS guys....

Wallace was unlucky that his first game was against the best TE in football. He had solid coverage a few times, but Kittle is just a better player. There was zero dropoff in our SS play with him and Epps in there, and they would be crazy to move Mills when Maddox returns.

With the return of Parks thinking S play will improve drastically.... Mills has a good game at CB secondary as a whole seemed to improve(granted we played Nick Mullens but still).

Trio of Parks/Epps/Wallace should be fine keep keep Mills at CB opposite slay.... Maddox returns I like him as a 3rd S think he is at his best or look at him in the slot let him compete with NRC/Leblanc

I agree. And Hightower is only going to get better with experience as well. It is amazing how much he has improved even from his first game.

On an unrelated note, Epps has done a ton better as well. He had one play against the Rams where he let Kupp free for a big gain just because he stopped covering him at the LOS on a misdirection play. I noticed that the 49ers tried to do the same thing with Kittle, and Epps was on him like glue.

It is nice to see the young guys getting better.

The Pitt game could be a realistic chance for Alshon to see the field for the first time this season would be huge for our WR group him returning

BG - you have to admit the play calls on that last possession were absolutely atrocious! Keeping Sanders on the bench when Pedey should have put the guys on the field who;d been moving the chains all game. Our small backs have no business running out of the backfield EVER when the OL is not functioning. The new development w/ Mailata may change that, but once they saw it they still didn't take advantage of running behind him. We'll see how that progresses, until then use Scotts' strengths on the outside and receiving - the Sproles role.

Between Alshon and Ertz they will command the top coverage guys.... That will leave our younger guys with better matchups likely lot more 1 on 1s etc.

About the young guys getting better, I was glad to see Wallace hit the field and Epps plays a nice version of what Parks was gonna be. Go Mailata!!

Stay at corner Mills, you’re needed at the moment.

Ummmmm Sproles was a great interior rusher just saying....Also Scott really isn’t that small short sure but the guy is like 200 pounds at 5’8

As for having Sanders on the bench I agree didn’t like that call... But I was 100% behind just running the ball the last series.

I’m all for going small during the game, but at the end we need a big back closer, and Clement isn’t looking the part.

Sanders 5’11 212

Scott 5’7 203

scott is giving up 4 inches and only 9 pounds lighter that is a stout man

Scott is built very similar to MJD who was also a very short man but tough strong runner inside and out

Riley needs to go back to ST’s where he is great immediately. Put in Taylor or Bradley for Pittsburgh! Or both preferably and sit the white snake 🐍 for a while, he’s looking horrible.

Sproles had an OL, Scott bounces well - waste of a down imo, belongs outside

I mean all RBs need an OL I’ve seen Blount get stuffed int he backfield plenty because of poor OL blocking.

If the big guys up front don’t do there jobs odds our our RBs are going to look bad

We don’t have that 250 pounder in Blount anymore that every seems to want but Scott/Sanders both are decent interior runners.

Those shorter stout runners also tend to find lot of success inside because it is tougher for defenders to find that behind all those big OL but yes the OL has to block well for runs to work

Won’t argue there, Sanders is great.

( haven’t seen him like he was last year yet)

Sanders is plenty big enough for primary duty. I said we need a big closer at the end of a win to keep Sanders from a freak last minute injury. Name that guy on the roster now. If we had him, Doug would have run him at end of Niners game. We saw what happened with who he ran. Dig me?

If we really wanted a bigger RB I’d call up Holyfield and give him a look was looking solid in camp

Where’s that big ole running back from cincy? Still on the practice squad?

If we could develop a Blount type we could dump Clement

That’s my point, give somebody a shot. Boston’s a change of pace, not a closer. Clement isn’t looking good.

You don’t find many guys like Blount dude had great feet for his size

He was cut. I like Holyfield as a bruising runner inside runner, but he's not been given much of a chance yet.

It’s a shame we couldn’t have kept Jordan Howard he is just wasting away in Miami they don’t even use him
