I'm running until they stop it.   As would most coaches.   The backup safety is a nice luxury.... stopping the run is paramount.

But yeah…I do both. But you get that gain on the ground…..likely you get that S having to make the tackle on the run. It’s just win/win.

But I’m also pointing out how you get to look at your draft pick pairing with your two pending FA S we have. Make an educated decision more off really seeing them together in practice and game. Instead we gotta guess between the middling priced and higher priced S options. Hope they work seamlessly together. Doing it next year….if not this. What’s better about waiting?

I'm pointing out this.... tell me which team added more to their roster in 2022?

This is New York Yankees fan syndrome.  You just think you can keep buying everything.

The Eagles have the most improved roster from 2021 to 2022.

Added Brown, Paschal, Davis, Quinn, Reddick, White, Bradberry and CGJ.... while retaining everyone else with value and youth improving.

All done while adding top assets to future drafts.

The results are showing in the standings.   After the season, there needs to be huge overhaul on both lines.  Those extra picks will be needed. And the run stuffer will be needed more than the luxury of a better 3rd safety.

Got one player, Davis, makes us legit against the run or not. So opponents going to know this. The guys missing tackles is also why the extra yardage. I don’t think the guy I was high played much yet to really say if he’s very good really. Cincy has to very good starters. But they got their replacement for their stud leaving. He’s learning how the vet dies it first.

We improved our roster from 2020 to 2021. Some by subtraction.

So did you watch them target Wallace and score? These OC just live to know a guy like that in coverage. Money in the bank. Guy not good enough and doesn’t have the experience. You can throw that way all day long. Wallace blows his assignment. Doesn’t cover good enough anyway. Pass interference is highly likely. Even if he’s in position…can he make the interception? Most DBs aren’t known for their hands. Heck plenty of WR aren’t even the best with their hands…got that speed.

17 points.   One target and that's it for you?    Oh no, they scored on a pass in the NFL😮

Third S? He’d be the only real one we have under contract next season. But you can decide which starter to keep.

Congrats to Cincy....how are they doing this year compared to the Eagles?

Anyone think their GM will be seen as doing a better job than ours this year?

You love to ride Andy Reid's jock....you think he would look at 3rd safety or the dudes on the line of scrimmage as priority?

Anybody anytime. Against that guy. Formations utilize three S. Also two S starting all the time he would get action if they get banged up for a play or two. Not too mention straight backup S for anything serious. But also covers injury to the slot. That’s a bunch of depth and playing time potential in many ways without just throwing the rook to the fire.

I mean .. those Dream Team safeties were studs!

How much are teams scoring on us this year?

We just ate Rosie screw up last year. They went to the SB.

Not sure I’d tout Rosie as the better GM really

Took balls to take Chase over Oline. He went against common thought and it paid off HUGE!

In 1989 the Bengals were better....doesn't really matter now though does it?  Neither does last year.  The Eagles have a better defense.

Wasn't he supposed to go where he went?

Get a good player in the mix with these guys. Why wait? You just only drafting lineman now? I know they prioritize the trenches. But AR did draft my S in the second just two years ago(I think)….Juan Thornhill. Tampa Bay got Winfield in the second. Made a big difference. But I feel the need to point out the value of S has drastically changed. It’s not the days of when AR was here. Look at the S pay now. Blown up. His day here CB was twice what as get. Now S get twenty mil.

Many thought they might go against conventional wisdom to take Burrow old teammate being that Chase was very low risk of not being great. But so many barked how their glaring need was Oline.

  • Author

So was the investment in Chase better than taking a chance on unknown Oline guy? Results point to it was brilliant.

So maybe we should reconsider the obsession with the trenches thing.

  • Author

Just believe there are so many ways to be successful personally. Getting a Dawkins or Jenkins you just can’t convince me is bad.

Gardner-Johnson was a huge move. But I can’t help notice him whiffing on tackles so much. He’s a ballhawk though.

But what’s his price looking like to you now?

  • Author

Saw him arrive here being at around 9 mil. I gotta think he’s over 15 mil now.

  • Author

Don’t know what FA class S looking like. But if it’s not strong he could likely find a team to go over that. Cincy stud I’m pretty sure becomes FA. Would sssume he’d be behind him.

This from the guy that was so unhappy we ran on everybody last season

I will give you the respect of really I believe your point was more a matter of at some point we’ll need to pass it to counter. Which was correct. Problem was the WR room though. Hurts wasn’t nearly as polished throwing either. But the trust just wasn’t there last season. Reagor obviously. Thank goodness having him as a starter didn’t ruin our stud young QB leader.

  • Author

But Watkins wasn’t the most reliable either. I’m a fan of his. But not sure he always was were he was supposed to be. Smith was excellent….for a rook. But think we all see how he’s much more a Maclin type than super star stud.

  • Author

But Smith is even better this year. He worked hard on his weakness. Which wasn’t so much he’s skinny and durability it looks at this point. But that skinny getting bullied by a quality press guy. Pretty typical concern for every college guy coming to the NFL. Not sure how much Press is really done in college. They have those dang hash marks so wide. So many times on that long side of the field with college QB arms you just don’t see anything like that. Plenty of time to break on the ball out there from several yards away. So most play well off that dude do they are going forward and seeing everything in front of them. Judging if the guy is going deep.

Even still…pro press is men doing it. NFL conditioning is just beyond.

  • Author

College guys more just using an arm. Pros JAM you for real.

  • Author

But stat only guys would say DeVonta has regressed. Think we all know better. Only one ball. He had a huge game. Want to see the breakdown of the Texans though. They really shut him and AJ down. That’s the stuff that’s not good.
