whether Ertz has a future with the team.

Think this is all but a done deal think he is gone.... Pretty sure we won’t pay him the money he wants especially with our cap situation and with Geodart in the wings

Plus, he hasn't been that good this year. I think we all saw the gap between him and Kittle Sunday.

On an unrelated note, here is a look at Singleton.

What I like about him is that he has the size to play near the LOS as well as the speed to cover. He's not a pro bowler, but he's a significant upgrade over Riley. Hopefully he will get a lot of snaps this week to show us what he can do. He and Gerry aren't a great match, and i am hoping Edwards gets healthy soon since I think they will complement each other.

Hence the sell high still think he would garner a good draft pick. 2nd or 3rd rounder easily

To be slightly fair to Ertz literally he is the only player teams have worried about last 2 weeks. Granted if he wants to get paid like a top TE he has to still get open make plays ie Kittle but.... Definitely easier when Ds have more then one target to worry about.

We actually scouted and developed Toth and he was snagged from us. So we are just getting our own guy back.

I think for them to use roster spaces on Opeta, Juriga and Toth, they must like what they see in those guys, so i am happy trusting Stoutland, considering our backups are playing better than the starters on other teams.

Stout has a heck of a track record

Edwards is out at least 3 weeks... Though with Schwartz recent comments(on Gerry) and how we used Edwards before hand not imaging he sees some massive boost in minutes

I disagree if we take fliers on guys late fine whatever but to start a pipeline you just have to be able to develop players that simple....

When I look at Pitt and Gb they are not drafting WRs high year in and year out to start a pipeline they are just developing guys Lizard GB was an UDFA and was killing it before injuries, AB was a 6th rounder before he went crazy

I think we have a quality WR coach to develop some guys right now. We’ve had Ward developing. I believe Barnett to be a quality depth receiver. Hightower is showing quality already. Reagor I didn’t doubt. His talent immediately flashed. Watkins is about to get some action. Fulgham has good size. Depending on how things work out with JJAW also. I’m not afraid for him to be cut. Would like to see him get an opportunity down the line this season again.
So I look at this situation and think, That’s seven...eight young receivers we are working.

My point as to why I don’t think we need to draft a WR high as of right now

I thought Singleton deserved to make the team last year. Thought even they should’ve given him a chance last season. Finally getting a chance.

Alshon and Dajx are here now.Ward and Fulgham are not newbies. I think they have the "vet experience".We are over cap we need to save loot not pay more vet pine riders IMO

I still have a slight hope Alshon gets traded. DeSean... What good is he when he can't stay healthy.

I have very little hope that someone will take on the contract of an injured player.

If he shows he is healthy and his contract is actually not bad for someone else to take on

It only works if he gets healthy yes.

I watched a couple of Steelers games, and here's how I think we can keep up with them.

On defense, they have a really good line that stops the run and blitzes from a variety of ways. They don't really sub a lot (11 starters have played 70 percent or more of the team's snaps, compared to six for us), so wearing them down will be important. It seems like spreading them out and attacking with short passes was effective. The games I watched were the Giants and Texans, and neither team has a great offensive line. But the Steelers made them look pretty bad.

I wouldn't do a lot of moving Wentz out of the pocket since they have a lot of speed on the edge. I think we have to trust our line to handle their blitzes and the receivers to get open quickly. This seems like a good matchup for Ertz as they play a lot of zone on the back end. I would take the reverses, naked bootlegs and Hurts gimmick plays right out of the gameplan. They aren't going to work. I would run counters right at their OLBs, who are somewhat undersized, and run play action to death with short throws to keep them on the field as much as we can.

On offense, they are somewhat vanilla. They have a really good run game and a qb who can sit in the pocket and pick you apart. They aren't going to run any read option or RPOs. It's a lot different than playing LA or San Fran, but their QB isn't going to throw any passes right to a linebacker, either. Their offensive line has looked really good run blocking but not so great pass blocking. They don't rely on big plays (we have twice as many pass plays over 25 yards than they do) but are content to work the ball down the field. If there is one offense that Schwartz is going to have success against, this is it. They throw to their wrs, run with their running backs and don't do a lot that is going to wow you from a playcalling standpoint.

This is a game our defensive line and our qb can win. If we can dominate their offensive line and Wentz can keep the chains moving by making accurate throws in tight windows, I like our chances.

Does anyone remember me having a discussion regarding Tampa Bay's defense with another poster on here. My statement was that they would be around the middle of the pack at worse. The other said they would be terrible and no way they would be any good..... He said they were last in 2019 and did nothing to make them better.

Anyway, TB looked pretty good last night. Maybe not great, but certainly not terrible. It was their offense that lost that game.... Just curious if anyone remembered....

I love your optimism. I see no way we win this game. Pitt is not missing any key pieces like SF was. They also had an extra week to prepare for us. But I still will be rooting for them...

He did so with a run of 4 wins against 4 bad football teams. And I say this not to bash Wentz but to offer a balance and context. Because at this point in his career I think it is fair to question Wentz. It is fair to suggest that actually perhaps he's a good QB but nothing more.

OK... a  few things.

1.  I was at the Miami game... we scored a ton of points, some really great throws were made by Wentz.   If Ertz catches the pass he dropped game would have been over. Plus lets be honest, ATL and Detroit we lost due to drops.

2.  During that stretch vs " bad" teams ... did we have to score a bunch of points to win?  and again, vs bad teams but also having bad teammates..  It was kind of a wash right?    So all things being equal, the QB won those games with being one of the better players if not the best player on the field, surely within the offense for that time.

3.  The key game being the Dallas win... Everyone loves Dak now right?  Fantasy darling, look at all these stats, pay the man ...etc.    Take the QBs away and which had the better roster?

But to my main point.    Take all the QBs away right now.... where do we rank the Eagles roster after doing that?   Where does Greg Ward and Dionte Barnett rank vs Tyreke Hill, Travis Kelce ... Michael Thomas, Kamara .... Zeke, Cooper  ...  ODB, Landry, Chubb  ....  IDK, take your pick of which roster you want.      For me, we could have Joe Montana or any other QB right now... regardless of that, IMO we are maxed out at the possibility of winning the division,.....  the bronze medal  mindset again ....    For us to get back to title contention, we need to upgrade around the QB.  Until then, does it really matter?  We've seen him win the division with this crap already, put some players around him like we had in 2017 and lets make another run.  Lets see if he can be the top QB again and make the team the best in the league again.

JJ didnt play in his fresh or soph year(well he played 3 games I think lol) .Please state the facts as they really are,not spin them into what you believe

Looks like GBFL was right on about JJ. I wanted Lamb, who was taken by Dallas before us but still thought he was well worth moving up for. Anyway. Reagor is on IR and JJ is producing every week like a true #1

The poster said.... about the overall TB team.   When everyone had them as the SB favorite simply by adding the aging Brady  vs Winston who already was putting up monster points..... and adding Gronk to a TE group that already had 2 good ones.... that they would make a serious jump from the 7 wins.    The poster stated that the defense was bad on its own... a jump to being mediocre wasn't going to help much to jump from the already mediocre 7-9 record.    That poster said he could see 10 wins ... but that he thought the Saints were still better, as well as probably some other teams within the conference.

The same poster said he didn't see Lamb making the difference for Dallas because they lost a lot of key players on defense.

Final point ... TB looked good vs Chicago ... who isnt exactly the 1989 49ers offense?    Thy play in the NFC south ... lets see how they handle the offenses from ATL and New Orleans which is key for them trying to become a SB contender.    They were 7-9 last year ... if you look at he games, there were 4 that were impacted by the INTs from Winston.  The rest the D lost on its own.  The O put up points, probably more than they are doing now.   That poster was making a point as to people getting too carried away with Tampa !

I seem to remember he said they were garbage last year and would be garbage again.... This was directed at the Defense. Yes, the over all record was also brought up, but he was adamant about the Defense.... Others can chime is if they choose to.

4 games ...really?

You can get a fairly good idea about a teams defense after 4 games. They look solid. Will they be a top 10? Maybe not but my point was they would be much better and not Terrible. I do not doubt that NO is the team to beat and I am not sure how well Tom will perform. I never argued about where they would finish, because I did not know. I did say they would be a contender if Tom performed as good as last year.

Dallas's defense is terrible. But Lamb is the real deal. I still wish we would have tried to move up. Maybe they did... Anyway, JJ was still there and he has done what GBFL said he would. Kudos to him for that prediction...

That was my point... the defense was brutal last year.... wasn't going to make enough of a jump for them to be a contender.   They already put up points last year... looks like it will be quite a bit more than they will this year.  But again, only a few games.

Congrats to their D for looking good vs Carolina, the injured Denver team, and Nick Foles.     Lots more games coming up where they will give up 30 points again.  IDK, maybe Brady throws 4 INTs and we can blame him, but I don't see it.  Their D will lose games for them.   You can rank them statistically however you like.  Bottom line not good enough to be a SB contender.

Reagor still may turn out to be a great WR. I certainly hope so
