https://www.profootballnetwork.com/siaki-ika-dt-baylor-nfl-draft-scouting-report-2023/  Being compared to Davis and right now ranked 35(concensus) so he would be right around where our 2nd 1 would be. Murph at edge and him as another DT would bolster that D line nicely. I'm wondering how many secondary players we can re-sign. I hope there are a few(always a sore spot) and we may need to find a RT to replace lane. As of now we only have 4 picks really as the 2 7's don't mean much

There is free agency and trades too.  Plenty of needs for sure

Only you would say this at this time. Not because he’s actually out there earning his trade up early draft pick position.

Yeah... I think it's obvious people think he is a good pick.

I know Andy Reid goo gobblers think Dream Team defensive philosophy is legit... but reality is you have to stop the run first.

I'm SO glad you didn't put a "p" at the end of the first word.

We stop the run and it's a blowout.  Really you can see why Davis was a great pick for us.  Take away the run and they have to pass...not their QBs strength.  They kept him from having to pass with all their running... even WR runs...great game plan.

So I didn't get a chance to answer your draft post about your priorities .  I think DT is absolutely a priority.  Would love to get another stud next to Davis long term.  That is a game changer.

So how long are you holding the rookie out?

Our DL has been owned a few times this year though to be fair.

What I was worried about when thinking about being exposed. We struggle to stop the run and tackle.

I assumed Fletch being in his contract season it’d be real hard to get him to accept a primary run defending job. Actually believe he’s very capable of being, exactly that, more in these twilight years of his career.

So we struggle to stop the run or any short plays really. So we will see plenty of this now. Setting us up for those shot plays now as we have to overplay the weakness.

Only answer I have is to stress running to the ball to gang tackle more. Create turnovers easier tackling by numbers.

Haven’t really seen that much from the kid really. He was playing as a backup. Came in on the five man line fronts to stop the run.

Until he's healthy enough to be effective

And stopped the run.  Which is half of what you need to do on defense.   Except for Dream Team...there you need to win the coin toss and score first

He’s been out two weeks. Week 11 now.

Metrics could point towards that conclusion. But he was specifically playing in when Gannon expected and was playing the run. Skews the stats versus when we weren’t playing the run and got gashed for it. Such a small sample size at this point to really draw much of conclusions from. You do recognize how without Davis we looked real bad against it. Not good. But not exactly the same. Davis doesn’t solve our biggest issue: poor tackling.

He's on IR

Maybe the birds can change his name and give him a new number

It’s seems to me we are already thinking saving Davis for the postseason. In doing that: I think he needs to get some plays in during the regular season. Week 18 might have to consider  we might have nothing to play for and rest starters. So Week17 becomes crucial against the Saints. Want Davis in that game. Ideally get some action in Week 16 to get him going. Week 15 entering game a handful of plays maybe.

Titans and Giants games week 13 and 14. Be nice to have him for them. Cowboys week 16 seems like the sure fire first target date.

If he is good and is able to go full practice, Week 13. Or in better words…ASAP

My thinking is extra caution considering he’s such a high pick, being a rookie, at his size….all that being on that ankle.

Head Coach Nick Sirianni has not announced a timetable for his return, but he will miss at least the next four games starting with Thursday. The earliest Davis could return would be the Week 13 game against the Tennessee Titans.

WOW yet another "I called it" HAHAHA oh man. Of course the with/without stats beat you to it

That wasn’t much of an answer. Just you lashing out.

Don't you think the FO would know when it's time to bring him back?

What answers do we have....we aren't doctors

The link I posted about Davis' return is probably the only news we'll get on him for I would guess, two more weeks. When we hear he's been activated for practice then his return would be just around the corner. Until then just need to sit tight.
