That's where I look at the running QB and the RB.    Sure I believe anything is always possible... but my point is instead of just saying a possible theory....use history as an example.

Says Eagles will most likely extend this guy out of all the 17 expiring contracts.  To me makes the most sense...he is the most impactful player. FB_IMG_1669528451214.jpg.d8648261f5c21f7d3bb45912d6d5f82d.jpg

Made tons of sense after week one….I was saying. That price tag has just been climbing.

Kraft compensated him well off the cap I believe. Heck, Brady probably could use the Jet or yacht…any of those perks also.

He was paid well.  Cap hit different story.

Well there’s a flaw right there. The wins of tomorrow aren’t based on the wins of yesteryear. Only thing that is the same is Browns and Lions aren’t going to the SB.

Robert Kraft…feels like says enough.

How about looking at all the past SB winners... and seeing who their QBs were.  Yes there were some with QB ok rookie deal... but what is the majority?

Mahomes, Wilson, Wentz, Hurts, Burrow

The majority is Brady

Cincy with rookie contract advanced instead.

Right? But Kansas were in the AFCCG... The year before they were in the SB and the year before that they won it. And yes ok that was before Mahomes got his big deal but they are in a great spot to make the AFCCG again this year and possibly the SB again.

Not saying I believe and am sold on the idea. But have to consider there being some sense in the logic.

I don't disagree that there's some sense to what you are saying. What I'm saying is if you get the right QB then you are still a contender.

Different WR's, that fact they are down 1(no matter who) helps us. Would be hard to cover them both at one. Doubs is like Arod's bail guy ala Amendola/Edelman type. Suspect those looks go to Tonyan tonight

I mean, you absolutely need to consider the option of trading Hurts.   If the return is high, you also get to avoid paying the high salary.

But I would think this is a slim chance.  The owner loves the QB position as the face of the franchise... I would think that after the last guy failed, he would want to lock up the next franchise QB ASAP.

In reality by doing it now,  it can be done in a way that won't cost much vs the market.  Imagine if Wentz panned out,  they wrote that contract in a way where they would have restructured it last year... cap hit probably would have been around 20 mil for a few years... Howie will set it up that way for Hurts too.

Never said I was against trading him, then again I wasn't calling everyone else haters all this time, pumping every aspect of his game, nor blaming 157 things on someone else. All of a sudden Ham would trade him after 5,000 pages of defending him against others observations of weak points

Everyone talks about Brady taking less money...in reality New England kept pushing his money down the road wiry all his restructures... they took a nice dead cap hit the year he left....  but well worth it.

Well he agreed to all this many times so they could sign other players, which he did not have to do

And Howie won't draft a CB in round 1

??? With Burrow and Hurts... did I miss a parade????

Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Big Ben, Eli ... etc.   Elway, Favre , Aikman before that... it you look back to the salary cap era.

Last year was Stafford.     We can't count Burrow.. a loser and not the expensive guy who beat him.

Again.. while it's absolutely something that did occur a few times recently... the inexpensive rookie QB winning a SB... it's absolutely NOT the majority of the SB winners that have done it this way.

So getting the right guy, should seem like the more probable way of winning it... regardless of how much he makes.

However, getting ahead of the curve ( like the Eagles do) gives you much more cap room to work with , than the Jerry Jones method.

I should correct myself... not a rookie QB.... but a QB on his rookie deal.

To me, " the smartest guy in the room approach"  ( which always seems to backfire for the Eagles)    is when you try to do something in the minority type of way, and think you are going to be successful.

We've seen 2017 and this year.   Fill out as much of a complete roster.   Draft the common sense picks.  WRs are important.  LBs are part of the equation.   They do these things and have success.    They've strayed from these things and that's when they struggle.

I like that they changed out the scouting dept. The new staff works well. Finding those possible players to trade for(and rating them so Howie knows what his pay limits are) 2 nice drafts in a row. I hope that's not a fluke either. Although with FA's you have previous info, vids etc, the scouts can lend their expertise as to "how many years of gas left". Maybe 1 of the 2 "new old guys" can stick as a BU to Davis next year also while we get better young guys in here. Anxious to watch those 2 play tonight. Even though they played right away they will(or should be) better tonight after spending a little time on the practice field. Even of one of the "new old guys" is in a minor rotation he can mentor the young guys and still play a few snaps. So,I liked that move and also getting TWO because since they are old they can be effective on fewer snaps per old guy.. I know Shew is going away. I hope he gets to play somewhere as I think he can be a mid level starter on a team who is not quite ready to contend, and some team will be left out of the QB draft rush next time. He's making good money for not doing anything LOL

Looking forward to this game, one we could very well lose. Let's see if we can respond. We need to get to Arod more than we have been. Suh can have "attitude" and I hope he uses it. even without Doubs, still 3 nice WR's. My boy Watson is a Big target. Lazard runs hot/cold, I hope he is cold today. I would also watch for Tonyan to get more targets than normal. I hope the run stuff game is fixed, we shall see as both their RB's are ok. D line needs to win the trench battle and I would like to see a little extra blitzing tonight. Hurts may need to run some to loosen up the box. I hope the secondary doesn't play way off like they have at times,I think tight coverages are a must. Arod is very accurate, can't allow too many windows. Make him throw into tight coverage and we could get a pick

" Shew" is making peanuts

And he's getting paid for doing nothing. I mean they are not even giving him 8 garbage time snaps in any game. Why are we risking Hurts with the game in hand? Why not let him take some snaps to earn what he makes?($965,000). I can sit round for 1/2 salary

You can’t count the team that was just in the SB as a success?

Really both sides. I like to zig while there zagging. You really believe the best way to rise above everybody is by trying to do the exact same thing? I just don’t. I look at the trends of the market. S prices were super cheap….now I’d say that position became expensive. So 2017 versus 2023 I’d be looking at a different approach. That’s just one example. But yes, you gotta come up with a way of having a complete team.

The flaw of the lemming approach to me is you aren’t going to OUT MAHOMES MAHOMES. Even he has still only one ring still….like ARod. Just impossible to pay top dollar at every position. Can’t have a top draft pick at every position. So I do think you can be very thoughtful in figuring out your approach.

IDK if I can Zag better than 31 others I will keep zagging
