"I'm the only one on here that called Lane Johnson as a more impactful player for his team than Ziggy Anzah"

That would be a very ignorant statement for me to make... simply because nobody else chimed in.

Guess I should have spoken for your opinion instead? You could have piped up whenever we’ve talked about the value of having vets in the room before. FL doesn’t believe in it. Thinks rookies have nothing to gain by it.

Of course I believe in it(words in mouth again) what I said is I am not PAYING to go get a vet just to get a vet. Every team has veterans, you can't help but have them. Apparently you could not comprehend my posts again.  So let me ask you this, if we hadn't gotten AJ and we never made the Saints trade,  would you have selected Olave to pair with Smith or would you rather play that vet Pascal? Ward? Which player is better???? Me? I'm taking Olave right out of the box over either "vet". We have a coaching staff and say what you want, but the players now are more "NFL ready" than they have ever been. Did Davis need vet help to drop our run yardage against us from 6 to 3???? Now, will Davis learn anything from Suh? Possibly. We brought Suh in because he is/was a GOOD PLAYER,not to teach Davis

I remember quite a few posters on this thread wanting to dump Lane over the PED thing.

Now just how stupid would that have been?

You guys have a conversation,  does everyone need to jump in on one side or the other on every discussion?

You did jump in at the end here calling me a narcissist because you didn’t jump in earlier about the subject.

https://titanswire.usatoday.com/lists/tennessee-titans-team-stats-rankings-nfl-2022/  Looking at the stats, the key for us is to keep them OUT of the RZ, aka the bend but don't break defense. I hope this doesn't mean we play 15 yards off their WR's or it's going to be a long afternoon

  • Rushing touchdowns allowed per game: 0.2 (T-1st)   On defense this is the big stat. Looks like we will need to pass in the RZ. So they are good at the run on O and good at stopping it on D

See.... that wasn't so hard was it... an entire post without the word "I" 👏

They’re good in the Redzone. So I’d say the key is to keep them out of that area.

Arguably opposite of bend but don’t break.

Bend but don’t break I consider allowing a team to get yardage but then stiffening up in the Redzone.

That’s not the right approach for a team really good in that area.

Davis already had Cox and Hargrave. So yes he had vet assistance in place.

Add in BG.

Their D is best on third down percentage league wide.

They get sacks and are good against the run.

Definitely some interesting stats.

Schwartz is their Senior defensive assistant

Siri and Gannon being with the Colts have plenty of familiarity with the Titans.

150 yards and 2 TDs for AJ is my big stat prediction

Jameson Williams getting activated finally for the Lions. Big time rookie.

We elevated LB Christian Ellis. Don’t even know who he is honestly.

Ceedy Deuce placed on IR

Nope bend means you slow them down as much as possible coming down the field and tighten things up as they get nearer to the RZ(don't break),so you are wrong one again

If they "get to that area",they have already broken you

So how about the Olave question you refuse to answer? Davis learned alot from those guys in 3 preseason games?(that I don't believe he played in) to know how to take 3 yards per carry off our opponents RB's? I'm not buying that for a second. Maybe the kid is good????

I think they cover him. I'm looking at Smith and Quez to benefit from that

The "bend but don't break" defense is a defense (usually zones) focused on stopping any big plays from occurring while giving up short plays.

The strengths of this defense:

  • Forces your opponent to have long, sustained drives which increases their chances of turning the ball over and causes stress on the offense

  • Forcing teams to resort to 3-5 yard gains at a time can make their players impatient and get them to make dumb errors

  • Still gets good coverage and some of the best defensice schemes are at thrir heart "bend but dont break" (Cover 2, Cover 3, Tampa 2)

  • Zones compress in the end zone which ultimately makes it much harder for the opposing team to score in the red zone

I’ve always understood Bend but don’t Break as: you will give them between the twenties hoping they’ll shoot themselves in the foot somewhere along the way. But then you tighten up in the Redzone where the D doesn’t have as much field to cover.  Titans are great in the Redzone but not classified as a special offense otherwise. So I think we more hit them before they get going is the approach. Not Bend but don’t Break. If you allow them in the Redzone you got problems. That’s their strength area.

Optimal is just obviously both.
