The "bend but don't break" defense is a defense (usually zones) focused on stopping any big plays from occurring while giving up short plays.

The strengths of this defense:

  • Forces your opponent to have long, sustained drives which increases their chances of turning the ball over and causes stress on the offense

  • Forcing teams to resort to 3-5 yard gains at a time can make their players impatient and get them to make dumb errors

  • Still gets good coverage and some of the best defensice schemes are at thrir heart "bend but dont break" (Cover 2, Cover 3, Tampa 2)

  • Zones compress in the end zone which ultimately makes it much harder for the opposing team to score in the red zone

They are struggling to get going. So doing this practically cures their ails.

The compressing in the Redzone is working in their advantage.

But yeah, basically what I said after you as far as the definition of Bend but don’tBreak. This is not the time for that philosophy.

Not Bend but don’t Break. If you allow them in the Redzone you got problems. That’s their strength area.

Right,so the object is to get them taking a long time to get there(or forcing punts), this is precisely what bend don't break means. Don't give up the huge long yardage plays, that's exactly what we need to do, not the opposite. Did you not understand what I posted?(again). You would rather let them get the chunk plays and get to the RZ more often? NO, you want to make them drag that out and force them to kick FG's, when they get there, not score TD's. Now you have a premium RB, you don't need him tearing you a new one. Keep him limited, keep them from throwing deep, keep the passing game short for them. If you want to play the opposite  type defense you are flirting with losing. Guess we will find out tomorrow(today)

Goedert should return week 15 vs DaBears. That is the plan anyway

CGJ isn't on the inactive list. Anyone know if he's playing? I don't have time to research right now.

Just did  a nice piece on the Eagles O line on Fox NFL Sunday

Awesome spin move by Gainwell

Smith benefiting from the AJ covering as I suspected 😁 Keep doing it until they have to take someone off AJ

Stupid, undisciplined penalties. Need to clean those up

Game is in the bag.    Another team tying to rush 4 guys and thinking that works vs the best OL and our WRs.   Not only does Hurts have time to make a sandwich, he can open the mayo jar, grab the knife out of the drawer and spread it real good first.

Take away an offsides and this would still be a shutout.

Hurts accuracy looks great

Nice having 3 decent RBs in the rotation without having to irresponsibly spend on the position.

Like the game plan so far. Need to yell about penalties. "Bend but don't break" defense is a failure 🤣

His forte is as a pass catcher. We didn't need to use him much to this point, but this it why we got him. Like seeing Hurts doing "pass first" and running if he HAS to. That's the way to play. We are totally avoiding their decent run D by NOT running

What's up w/ Davis and AJ?
