Mailatta seems way too nice to be nasty on the field. Remember Dawk saying how that switch gets thrown once he came out of the tunnel

OH IDK, he got beat twice one game(I forgot which game) and then he hit another gear and kicked arse and that guy wasn't close ever again

So then we come down to Giants cutting a top CB. Rosie did sign him. So he gets credit there. Huge luck that happened for us still though. McPherson was the plan at outside corner otherwise, right? We just don’t really know how he’d perform this year in that role. So Rosie ignored and didn’t have any real decent master plan going at that position. Bradbury has been fantastic! Transformed the D. That big a difference. Clearly where teams would have targeted. So that’s just an unbelievable defense changing stroke of luck from our rival. No Bradbury, Maddox out hurt…,our coverage would be terrible. Well especially when you add the Ceedy Duce trade. He had to trade for a S. Totally bricked really at finishing the Secondary. Maddox, Slay, Epps and ? Who at outside corner and S? Gaping Secondary holes. That’s starters. Not even discussing depth. Which I believe in depth being important. But he covered for his embarrassing disregard for the position group by the Saints once again blowing things and gifting us a great S. So Rosie sucked for putting us in the position of only having one S. Epps isn’t All Pro even either. But he made a great trade to bring in Ceedy Duce. So how do you grade that? Then he needed to resign the obvious great fit stellar player he traded for. And failed to get Ceedy Duce in the fold long term. I really am not optimistic he will remain here now. So bad that he had such a glaring hole he was forced to trade for anybody. Great he got a top S cheap. Bad he didn’t sign that great S and probably loses him. What was it a fourth for Quinn? Clearly bad move. No return. Suh and Joseph? Jury still out. Still trying to cover for his own making of deficiency. Old vets sitting out. So getting return first game or two was nice. Whether the old players can come off the street and keep it going I’ll judge the moves on individually.

Mailata did make a pancake highlight on one of the shows - that's cause he's just huge - he doesn't seem to have the ferocity of Graham who wants to bury people

IDK if you need ferocity if you are killing them and being nice too. Let's just say I wouldn't want to be the guy that pisses him off

Maybe they will try to blitz Micah from Mailatas side. This should be an interesting confrontation

Draft: Davis, Jurgens, Dean, Calscattara, Johnson….not really much impact this year. I like Davis understand how Gannon needs a Nose to make his D work. He clearly completely relies on it to stop the run. Jurgens I like. Came in as an extra lineman now to do something. Dean I like. Played a couple snaps and made a play or two in extremely limited opportunity. Calcatarra finally getting a shot. I’m critical of his mistakes so far. But have to give leeway on his expectations. He has evident tools to work as that third TE. Kind of just decent potential all around. Can run decent routes. Has decent hands. Struggling blocking but shows effort and enough ability to do the job as the more receiving TE whatever letter you put on that position. So basically he should fit as that compliment to Stoll when Goedert isn’t in. Has potential. But not starter level potential. Johnson actually might be the biggest contributor. Good depth player and a keeper. Not starter potential either. Wasn’t that familiar with him not watching him in college. Especially surprising pick after spending on Reddick then drafting Dean. But good call.

Takes a real long time and a lot more effort to do anything in a cast and non weight bearing

I'm sure dullass learned from the 1st game when I actually had to laugh at how we handled Parsons. I mean he had to be totally embarrassed when he watched the tape. It won't be a repeat, but it really is how you handle a guy like that, esp when we have the OL we do who can handle the rest of the guys they have, some are pretty good too if not overpayed.

What scares me - and it's not beneath them - is to say screw it and do an illegal hit on Hurts early

It's why I've always been for an illegal hit penalty - you commit an illegal hit that causes the guy to lose time, you're out the same amount of time, plus the fines etc. You end a guys' career you're done too

Curious...Dallas has this roster that is way better than ours.   They just chose to let a top WR go because they think  TY Hilton is better??

So which roster position(s) do you feel Dallas is better than the Eagles?    Parsons.... and?????    I don't see it.

The goal of the GM is to put a better roster in place than the other teams.  I'm trying to see which GM did a better job in 2022 than our guy?

But once again digging into other teams takes too much research. I’m knee deep in our team. So just not fair to compare my knowledge. Giants hired Dabol. Have much respect for him. Prisoner of the moment is we just spanked them. But great GM move getting him. Miami transformed their team. Big time GM work. But failed to pull off getting Brady and lost a pick next year. Vikes you gotta give GM credit. Niners you can’t ignore. Third string QB might be their best option yet. Scary! Chiefs GM was incredibly bold. Results proving his decisions looking wise. Bar for them is pretty much SB or bust though. So their GM set their bar so high hard to fairly compare. Browns bailed on mayfield. Controversial move. Results proving great decision. Big celebrity player so it’s hard to get rid of the ticket seller. Sold everything for Watson. I believe Watson a top five level QB. They have talent on that team. So results of the Browns GM will be judged on the next few seasons results. But many GM would have taken the safe path to keep the status quo with a team like Cleveland. Would have short term this season generated more wins. I think that big balls move pays off for him though. Not the popular opinion if you’re prisoner of the moment however. Heck take the worst team in the league. Texans. I think that GM is absolutely on the right path. Exactly what they needed to do. Tank and get that top pick QB. Franchise changing. They actually have talent too. Play many games tough but lose. For Texans that’s a win. All those Browns picks are going to be great picks….on top of their best picks. Cleared their cap. Now it’s just all up to making the good choices going forward. I see their rise coming quickly and the right way. Build up a great young core of players with a top franchise QB and having the money to add on top of that. Ideal rebuild model….potentially.

Lions GM…really took a team from nothing and added talent. Results actually showing quickly. Limited HC. Top WR pick just finally got to suit up. Kid already delivered. Got a ton of praise for Lions GM. Our old guy in NY. Douglas making some good moves. Really look into all he did this season. Looking really good on many fronts.

How about Seattle? GM you gotta think pulled some magic. Actually improved by getting a windfall for trading Wilson away. Watching him look done just has to get him late on the back. Several other moves there worth praise.

Unfortunately we're prolly going to lose some coaches this yr. Another read is that Siri already has a plan for that - pretty amazing for a "young" coach

Anyway, I’m in no position to compare Gms against ours because I’m just so knowledgeable about our team. Just nowhere near as involved in the others. So I’m not the guy to make that call on GM of the year. Not even sure how to compare all these different situations. Nobody going to give Texans GM that award. But he’s doing a great job IMO. Rosie could easily get it because we have the best record. He has a team full of impending FA. So GM of the year and judging all their moves….is it really about immediate returns? Sometimes. But most of the time I’d say great decisions at GM are ones that effect many years…maybe the next decade. So No Mas, it’s fair for you to say I danced around answering your question. The longest answer you’ve ever seen just to say ….I don’t know! Hahahaha

We went through all TC with pretty much just Epps. He’s starter quality. Not going to go overboard on being all star player or anything though. Then lucked into Blankenship from nowhere. Usually you’d think a guy like him would normally start on PS. But our S room was so pathetic it was just obvious to give him a roster spot. I’ve arguably been Blankenship’s biggest supporter here. But what level is ‘quality’ really? Out of nowhere rookie with potential is how I’d label him. Think he’s a keeper. But year one contribution I wouldn’t want to be put in position to make all my plans relying on him. Perfect type 4th S option. One S goes down he comes in on Dime packages. ST contributor type. But he actually was our number two S. This was how the master plan unfolded for this season. S position was ignored. Blankenship was an unexpected gift. Part of no master plans. But is your point that you don’t think any DC should be able to rely on Dime packages in today’s NFL? I have to completely disagree if that’s your logic. Just so we are all clear, Dime is a personnel that requires three S. Pretty much always have at least two S on the field. With a very common package of three S any DC interviewed I’m sure could go on and on about how crucial that package would be to utilize.

Long post... I just asked which team has 4 quality safeties?   Not complicated?

However, one thing you said, I wouldn't want to put a lot on a rookie safety year 1.    Agree 100% there.

Heck - AZ GM taking "a leave of absence for health reasons". Hope it's not a serious health things, the way things are going there should be a mental leave. Our GM, although there've been yrs I've hated him, he's learned and doing a lot better.

That's very tough to judge. Some QB's are more fragile than others. Not that I am for illegal hits. And how do you interpret if it's intentional? it can be, but that's a tough call to make ending someones career. The reffing is already awful and a bad call on this would be like sentencing an innocent man to jail for 20 years. If you play QB you need to expect to be hit.

Step up Lane.

So much will be revealed in just how they utilize Parsons. Where does he attack? Kind of worrisome you gotta admit. Steichen has to ponder every scenario. I think he goes after Mailata….but could see him attack inside actually. Speed around Mailata I think they try and expose. Lawrence against Lane then. Good matchup. I’m such a football geek I could watch twenty clips just on their matchup. Parsons might be the best D player in the league already. So Lawrence gets overlooked. 53 tackles and 6 sacks. Stats wise I see it as my gameplan would be run at Parsons… Lawrence tough on holding edge. I want to see some of our options with Parsons unblocked. Could really backfire. But I see it as the perfect opportunity to frustrate him. He’d have to mind his pass rush knowing the option would be to go right outside him if he gets straight upfield. Get in his head. Make him look stupid(hopefully). All while it is practically Hurts doing it to him by reading him and making the decision on how to burn him. Parsons such a typical cowboy punk. Would love to embarrass him. Somebody gotta do it! Think that somebody is us.

AZ is a mess and they really screwed themselves(the Browns of the west) I believe they signed Murray until 2028 and Kingsbury until 2027,so they are really stuck with both and I think others were signed to too long contracts

LOL well the stat guys have to pick some point and the 50 was taken(for the team logo lol). The theory(used to be) since teams(used to) start at the 20 on touchbacks anything LESS meant the other team had to work harder. So the 19 would be 1 more yard to go. The goal of the return guys is to get it past the 20

Exactly, that’s a win. Even if it’s just one yard. Disappointing in most views as the bar is set at probably the five in mine. I’ve always believed in just punting out of bounds. Perfect that. You’d never get a return on my team except on a shank. But these athletes are unreal. See them getting down there and downing these punts at the one is a huge victory….when it works. Almost any offense has to just strictly fight on getting out if the end zone at that point. Playbook shrinks to near nothing.

Cowboys Offensive Line Efficiency

  Grade Rank
Adjusted Line Yards 4.73 7th
RB Yards 4.85 4th
Adjusted Sack Rate 4.3% 3rd
Pass Block Win Rate 48% 31st
Run Block Win Rate 73% 5th

The big story on this offensive line right now is Terence Steele, who’s been lost for the year after suffering a torn ACL against Houston. Steele was having a phenomenal year and was arguably the best run blocker on a line that’s top 10 across the board in run blocking. That said, he was also second on the team in pressures allowed, and pass protection has been this unit’s weakness all year.

Elsewhere, Tyler Smith is about to be moved inside to left guard with Tyron Smith returning. Like Steele, rookie Smith has been great in run blocking but has had his struggles in pass protection. Moving him inside and inserting a future Hall of Famer next to him is sure to yield positive results from the left side of this line, even as the right side goes through some uncertainty now.

Defense

Cowboys Defensive Efficiency

  Grade Rank
Defensive DVOA -17.5% 1st
Pass Defense DVOA -18.9% 1st
Run Defense DVOA -15.9% 6th
Pass Rush Win Rate 53% 2nd
Run Stop Win Rate 28% 26th

The Dallas defense didn’t have its best game against Houston, but similar to their performance against Philadelphia earlier this year, several of their drives began with the Texans already in scoring position. That’s why their efficiency grades haven’t dropped too much.

I saw that he said he was good for 1500 yards LOL

Hearing him speak about how he does his job tells do much. He has studied the WR routes with such detail. Counts the steps. Sees the leverages. He knows all about the WR job.  I mean he could seriously be a WR coach.

Saw this today. If the season ended right now all NFCE teams would make the playoffs

Because Washington benched their starter. Or technically they got saved by injury blessing in disguise. If they didn’t waste the money and draft picks on Wentz they would be seriously legit. Their coach is tough. He just always squeezes out a good team. Critical of his ability at the highest level. He’s good…but not great.

Did read about not being caught up in the SB hype. I'll add that to this yr. AFC has some good teams too. Can imagine us vs our old coach AR, no llikely but would be fun

Highly likely I’d say. Think that’s exactly what I expect.
