I saw Siri favor Gainwell over Sanders day one. Then watched coach grab Gainwell to chew him out several times on him blowing his job. Watched Gainwell slide back. Was the hand picked Siri choice. Sanders was another guys RB. Watched Siri fall in love with Sanders dominating. Completely killing it more the most any RB. Huge season. Gainwell kept sliding though. Scott overtook him also.

I’ll give you the elite rusher isn’t elite blocker. Don’t want him taking too much of that anyway. Concentrate on him gashing people with carries.

Gainwell was "hand picked" in round 5???? Hand picked would be rounds 1 or 2. Not buying he was hand picked. Maybe he was the BPA at 150? So now you expect a round 5 talent to knock everyone over with his prowess???. How did Scott overtake him when Scott was already here??? I'm a bit lost(no surprise) as to why you expect late round guys to become studs(at all). Gains plays a role,a simple role as a relief back and a COP back and a role where we can bring him in to change the defensive calls. That doesn't require alot of carries and in some cases is used as a decoy depending on the play called. I'm not expecting him to "take over" because he was never drafted to do that

CJG is "disregarding the position"???? YIKES

When did he arrive? Desperately traded for at the last minute? Exactly

If we drafted your S(round 1 guys should start immediately) Why would we have gotten CJG? You're sitting your round 1 pick? How can he learn behind CGJ if he doesn't play? What about the other picks we got in addition for postponing that round 1 pick over to the next draft? Those didn't help with the rebuild? Without that 10 pick our first pick would be 31(now we have both) That 10 pick should be to address an aging player. Without that pick, thats one more problem you did NOT solve. Howie does NOT draft DB's that early, does NOT!!!!! I would look for one in round 3 this next draft, either S or CB. If we had taken your S,we would not have gone for CJG and therefore the rook would not be learning behind anyone,he would be starting and learning on the job and Howie went "all in" this year and with a rook S learning on the job,we wouldn't be where we are IN MY OPINION. I hope we can keep CJG here. We shall see

Cincy is just morons..they did exactly that. What do they know? Oh yeah they just were in the SB and they value DBs…hmmm

RBs go later. He hand picked a type. Wasn’t BPA.

D-I-M-E…..you guys I guess haven’t heard of this brand new seeeing personnel package…all the rave. Second most used package league wide. Plenty of S can also play the Slot Nickle….the most played personnel package. Get your head out of your a22es!

Lets take a poll.

How many people on here think the Eagles would have traded for CGJ if they drafted a S round 1?

I say absolutely ZERO SHOT!   Ham believes the Eagles would have drafted their first safety EVER...not Lurie era, but since the inception of the franchise in 1933... and then traded for CGJ   while putting the rookie behind Blankenship as the 4th safety.

Meanwhile, 2 facts...1= The dime defense with your 3rd CB and 3rd S... still doesn't have your 4th safety on the field.   2 = the Eagles got the top seed. There is no better result for a team to achieve in the regular season.

So apparently not only would the Eagles trade for CGJ after the 1st S in franchise history gets drafted round 1 to be a 4th stringer... but during the playoffs a guy who won't see the field in the dime package would be worth trading back the whole Saints package.

Twice confirmed " I called it"

So only moves up to the draft count?  So then we disregard the SF trade for CMC?  Desperate move in October.

So again... if the round 1 safety was here.  Whoever your guaranteed guy that would have been there...that you knew 3 weeks prior to the draft...  your guy was here looking great in camp with the blazing speed..

Then according to you,  there would be no desperate move to trade for CGJ...right?

You can't have it both ways.

In no world would a crappy GM like Howie... after seeing his rookie S dominate during camp.... have gone out desperately looking for a S.  So no shot CGJ would be here.

If the desperation is the only reason you believe CGJ is here..... and you believe he was NEVER part of the plan... then no shot he is here after we drafted Ronnie Lott in round 1.

So if the idea is that Howie got lucky with CGJ being available... no argument.

If the idea is he should have addressed S earlier... no argument

But in no way will I believe BOTH the rookie round 1 guy and CGJ would be here.

The expression that " being lucky is better than being good"   probably worked for the Eagles as far as S is concerned for 2022.

So your dime would be...

Slay, Bradberry,  Epps, CGJ, Blankenship and the rookie S.

Ok...here is what we agree 100%...and was never ever....never in dispute from me, nor did you ever see me say otherwise

1.  Dime nickel...etc... the game is a passing game, I absolutely agree nickel is the most played D. Also agree Dime is played often.

2.  Agree 100% that Howie and the Eagles got lucky addressing S position with CGJ filling the need at S...last minute.

100% in agreement.

That said, no way would I agree to think " non desperate Howie" trades additional picks for CGJ.  Too much investment ( not for me...but for the Eagles way of thinking) at the S position.  I believe no chance of that! The talk would have been how great the rookie and Epps were playing etc.  We all agree that Howie likes to promote his picks.  He needs that "smart guy" label..especially when it's reinforcing his 1st round picks.

So for me... nobody will ever convince me that BOTH CGJ and a rookie 1st round S would be on this team right now.  No chance.

So that's why my choice would be to have CGJ and the Saints picks over the rookie S and no Saints picks.  I believe it's better for 2022 and better for the future.

I believe CGJ is a top player at his position.  I believe they will resign him. I believe he is worth it, because it's a passing league and in that league he is a game changer deserving of game changing $$.

On the flip side.  I don't believe in  passing league that Miles Sanders is a game changer.

Very nice kid, feel happy for him to finally perform without too many mistakes.   Go get that money kid.

I'm just not paying an early down runner top ten money when it's a passing league.    It reflects nothing negative towards Sanders nor anything positive toward a cheap role player in Gainwell... it's just the circumstances.  I believe that position has limited impact on winning when it comes to having average vs above average in that roll.

I also believe that running behind our OL helped Sanders.  I believe this OL will have major changes soon and is more of a priority than spending money on the RB.  Especially one who struggles in the pass game.

Where did the Eagles rank as a rushing team in 2021?  They were a top rushing team.   The obvious change for the better was their passing offense this year.   One major addition..the true #1 WR in AJ Brown.   Worth the $$.   That position impacts the game.

We had 15 TDs go to other RBs last year.. didn't really impact much now that Sanders is scoring them.  Nice for him, no difference for the team.  The games he missed in 2021,we still ran the ball well.

This year the coach is passing more because of more weapons in the pass game.  Those weapons are not going away any time soon.

Follow the logic ... you can see why I don't feel paying Sanders is smart business.  Great kid... good " runner" ... I'm not paying him.

This is not normal to have 2 guys like this on the same OL.   Both of these guys are also exceptional in run blocking... both can run like LBs and block in space too.

Neither will be here forever.   If you truly believe in the young QB1 as a long term solution... then a priority MUST be finding the guys to replace both of these plus Seamulo, Dillard..etc.  The OL must be a too priority along with the DL moving forward.

Because the decision was made to go ALL in!!! Exactly.

UH they already had top flight WR's and a franchise QB,a top rate RB and in the rebuild process they were a year ahead of us???? No,can't be that, must be something else

Round 5 is certainly later(lol) and by then whomever you "hand picked" was LOOOOONG gone, but keep that spin machine running on high. How do you know he was NOT the BPA? Just your opinion??? Like the sad state of trying to re-do a trade that was already done that you can't do a damn thing about?? How many years are we going to hear about "that S that saved the Eagles franchise who was cause for the Bengals to GO...... ALL..... THE..... WAY"? Unbelievable.  I'm sure the Bengals other 52 guys have no bearing whatsoever

How many pro bowlers do we have this year besides the 2 perennials? Doesn't matter that we have a boatload, that S would have built a decade long dynasty. For the record and as a disclaimer, I was a huge fan of Sauce Gardner(still am) Sadly I am unaware of any team having the first 10 draft picks the same year 🤣. Sadly CHOICES need to be made. Sadly (and realistically) it will be the same for the next draft 🤣. Ham needs to convince every other team to take whatever trade packages he offers.I.on the other hand am totally clueless and have no idea what I am talking about

Anyway,DaBears are the team that's sitting pretty. Lovie Smith knew he was out the door,so he went for 2 to win the game(HAHAHAHA-the middle finger on his way out) like his style HAHAHAHA. That 1 pick will bring them a garbage load of picks from the team with the most assets seeking a QB. Fields looks like he will be ok,but like us a few years back they need to put pieces around him. Give them a year or 2. Houston was losing alot of close games, they will be in the mix also with a good draft and offseason

So if I am Howie(which I am not) I would like to keep CJG and pay a fair rate to do so. That would be a top priority for me. Like to keep Bradberry. I would make a decent offer and let him turn it down. Blank has been a nice surprise(like Scott and Mailata were) and I can hope he keeps getting better. I would look at a CB selection in round 3.Like to keep Slay, but need to find a young guy that can take over in a year or so(Talent but not "NFL ready" which sounds exactly like a round 3 choice). It's a fairly deep CB class with enough talent in round 3 that there is no need to push it nor reach. If there is one we like I suspect we can move up a few spots. It would basically be our last pick(as of NOW) My mock targets may be NONE of what Howie is looking at,but I believe in the positions I have in any specific order(edge,DT,ROT) which leaves our last pick for whatever. My thoughts are CB or RB selected there, although as I said the RB class really has no standouts except for Robinson, maybe Gibbs. I believe Howie hits the FA's for RB and CB because that's how he operates. Once again I offer Sanders a nice contract and let him turn me down. Let's recall how badly LeVon Bell did when he went to the Jets. I believe Sanders likes it here. If he turns me down, then I look at a guy like Jacobs from LV who was expecting to play for a winner(as was Adams). Being on a contender has alot of pull over a few extra bucks playing on a trash team. Should be fun to see the moves made this offseason. Happy with Hurts progress, better than I expected. He's earned a contract here. WR room,no complaints. We can shore up a bit with the BU's,let them fight for a job. but they are adequate as it stands. Goedert is excellent, like to see Calc emerge as the solid 2. I am not very good with scouting LB's,I will leave that to others on here. Do we keep White or move on from him??? I will defer to the guys who know LB's much better than I
