Don’t like giving away anything that would improve this years team. Plus a draft pick is long term. No sacrifice. Rookie will be here four more years still.

Davis isn’t long term potential here?

Davis is not here 4 years minimum??

So you routinely see teams that are contenders postpone draft picks towards the future and consider them rebuilding? I can’t get the point here. Just adding tools to maintain to contend I would think. Only had one loss with our MVP QB….that’s as far away from rebuilding as I can possibly see.

UH how many guys will we lose after this season ends? Kelce maybe? We don't need to cover Lane(which Howie just did), Slay is getting younger every year? Every year should be looking to make the team better. On some rare occasions you find the right combo and go all in, which is what Howie did. Still could be right there next year IF we can fill the holes we will lose after this season(and thats a big IF with 4 picks)

Was wise to postpone the first round draft pick. Why get any more talent here now to try and win it all? Much more important to try to not suck as bad next year. Plus having that rookie this year would mean he’s more experienced next year. Be terrible for  both squads. Next year’s team is most important. Just rebuild while we are the best in the conference…us…and Chicago. Trying to put a team together.

Name another SB contending team that had 2 round 1 picks in the following draft. if you draft that S CJG goes somewhere else. What don't you understand about this?

They value the position. Bills do also. Are these teams ideas proving successful right now?

On the flip side.  I don't believe in  passing league that Miles Sanders is a game changer.

Very nice kid, feel happy for him to finally perform without too many mistakes.   Go get that money kid.

I'm just not paying an early down runner top ten money when it's a passing league.    It reflects nothing negative towards Sanders nor anything positive toward a cheap role player in Gainwell... it's just the circumstances.  I believe that position has limited impact on winning when it comes to having average vs above average in that roll.

I also believe that running behind our OL helped Sanders.  I believe this OL will have major changes soon and is more of a priority than spending money on the RB.  Especially one who struggles in the pass game.

This Oline is really good….not as good as the Dallas line in the 90’s, but really good! I feel Emmett Smith is WAY overrated BECAUSE he ran behind diesel sized linemen that created diesel sized holes. How many yards does Derrick Henry or Saquon Barkley have behind this line? That’s Joe’s point about not paying Sanders a boatload. We all like Sanders. He is the Eagles’ starting RB. Hell yeah we like him! What I am reading is that the Eagles can get just as much or nearly as much production from a much cheaper RB….behind the Eagles’ OLINE. Maybe he’s right. Maybe he isn’t. The GM is going to have to make that decision in this offseason. Stay tuned! I like Sanders. I dont pay him a huge contract either. Doesn’t mean I’m right. Just my preference to spend limited money elsewhere BECAUSE I think the Eagles can get strong production from a cheaper RB. Who? I don’t know and luckily don’t have to decide TODAY. Watch how it plays out. What do they say….RELAX?

Lets take a poll.

How many people on here think the Eagles would have traded for CGJ if they drafted a S round 1?

I say absolutely ZERO SHOT!   Ham believes the Eagles would have drafted their first safety EVER...not Lurie era, but since the inception of the franchise in 1933... and then traded for CGJ   while putting the rookie behind Blankenship as the 4th safety.

Meanwhile, 2 facts...1= The dime defense with your 3rd CB and 3rd S... still doesn't have your 4th safety on the field.   2 = the Eagles got the top seed. There is no better result for a team to achieve in the regular season.

So apparently not only would the Eagles trade for CGJ after the 1st S in franchise history gets drafted round 1 to be a 4th stringer... but during the playoffs a guy who won't see the field in the dime package would be worth trading back the whole Saints package.

Twice confirmed " I called it"

No trade for ANY S if they would have drafted a S in round 1.

Again... either draft the safety or trade for CGJ.   Both would not have occurred...  do you think a rookie is better than CGJ?  For THIS year?

IDK 4 mil per for Sanders is unreasonable? It's not alot when you compare what is paid for other positions. 3.5-4 I would be fine with. Prices are only going to go UP. Any year where they ever decreased the cap? Add Scott in there,so it's no a daunting amount here.No sense arguing over a few 100k. If he wants 8 see ya

Oh it's very reasonable... he will get that and probably a lot more elsewhere.   I'm saying what I would pay.  It's not 1970 anymore... the stud RB is for fantasy...congrats on Sanders for getting TDs this year....last year thr other RBs get 15.   I don’t really care...I'm not paying for one guy to run on early downs and come off the field in key situations.

I'll save that 4 or 6 mill and pay for better linemen somewhere...

This is so obvious, I don't get why he doesn't acknowledge.  He even admits it was desperation move... well without the desperation we know this organization isn't dumping more assets into safety.

I don't need similar production from one guy.  The team runs the ball really well.   I don't care how it's shared.   I like depth..  3 solid guys who can be reliable on any down to pass protect and catch the ball.   Preferably one that has the nose for short yardage.

His main argument is why postpone a round 1 pick for a round 1 the following year. 3+1= 4 and 2+2=4. For the postponement we got additional picks. That's why you do it. He would have an argument (or more of one) if it was a simple 1 for 1, but the fact is we got additional picks which helped fill holes we had. I felt it would take this coming draft before we would even THINK about a SB run. Apparently they did something right so we can compete RIGHT NOW. He doesn't get why we still need to rebuild though. I guess he thinks this same team will be around for another 3 years LOL(NOPE). So whatever. I don't go ballistic when a guy I wanted gets picked by another team. They saw what I saw, and the Eagles see what I see, but there are only so many picks you get and when great deals present themselves you ACT on them and assume whatever the consequences are/were are worth making the move,or you don't make the move. I'm sure these moves were not knee jerk, they were thought out,yet you can't dilly dally, you must make a choice and be decisive,or another team will come in and make the deal. There are lots of moves I didn't like before. But the last 2 years Howie has been spectacular. I can't change anything anyhow, the deal was made and you move on (well most of us do LOL) I'm too old and tired to keep mopping spilled milk

Agree...but most obvious is if they drafted a 1st round S, they wouldn't have gotten CGJ...  he is absolutely an impact player and a big reason why we have the top seed.  Even if the rookie matched that...which is very doubtful..  then we wouldn't have those extra picks.   If he wants to say trade down and so the LB from Georgia is a wash, then fine.   But now  Aldo have pick 10 and a 2024 2nd.   In addition to the better player this year in CGJ.

And master plan or no master plan means nothing.  Ask New England how many Superbowls they won with their master plan of having Bledsoe at QB instead of Brady.

The faulty logic. Need all of them. Give DBs on the field all the time. Can be six. Both S are pending FA. It’s like the argument of how Rosie neglected the position in the first place was wise. You could be correct…but doesn’t make it the right answer on what to do.

Terrible plan in the first place means bad logic prevails?

Why does this matter? The subject was why we need to keep rebuilding, which is a never ending process and define better? Schedules matter, it's harder next year better record? Better stats? Kelly green jerseys?(I'm still pushing for this my self lol) better than who? Do I think we can contend? Sure, some depends on who we retain and who we draft and get in the offseason

Nope, his logic is fine, check your own.Once AGAIN,if we use a 1 pick on a position we are NOT going to get one in the same position in FA,we are NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT getting a top caliber guy and paying him after just selecting the next supposed STUD. Because if you take BOTH S's you are ignoring ANOTHER position which you will complain about. If we had drafted one and taken CJG(which in itself is redundant) then all we'd hear about is how we needed a DT(Davis) and a WR (remember how we got AJ here????). We would also have to give back the players we got using the extra picks we had to trade for them. It's ridiculous that you keep on and on about this while not even understanding what happened or why

It matters because if you see this year as the best shot at getting a trophy…then you wouldn’t want to limit this year’s team…especially with talking draft pick that adds youth that could be here during years.

You’re not giving up any of that. Just giving up the 10th pick in 2023 and a second in 2024. For the S in a group that has proven was a strong few players at the end of first into the second.

Again... nobody is saying you don't need all of them.   We are saying ...and agreeing with you...  the CGJ move was made out of desperation.   If they drafted a 1st round safety the desperation would not be there...they would see the position as being addressed.

You already know they don't invest in that position....there is no way they trade more picks away for CGJ after they would have drafted a S.

It's not faulty logic after seeing how teams operate,  especially the Eagles over the last few decades.
