I don't disagree with what Sanders will get paid or " worth"    I just don't want to pay it.  I would prioritize other things with that $$

A discount for him would be to take $5 mil.   I'm not paying that.   That $5 mil can be used elsewhere

IDK I assume the cap will be raised by AT LEAST that amount(usually it's alot more than that) so basically you are signing Sanders with the increase alone. Could be worrisome if there was a cap freeze, but we know that's not happening and why salaries keep going up,because the NFL will never CUT the cap. Signing him for 3-4 years at 5 mil could be a bargain 2 years from now

Like you though Joe I would be doing the DB's FIRST,really like to lock those guys in before worrying about RB

Just want to mention that Josh Jacobs will be a FA and my guess is he would love to play on a winning squad and would jump at a few million per a year. This was "supposed" to be the year LV put it all together(fail) I doubt jacobs wants a re-run of the last few years

Got too conservative, quit doing what worked. Im' fine ball stalling with a RESULT(even a FG),they ball stalled with NO result. 3 and outs also kill/gas your defense

Ok... this is where you and I disagree a lot.  I believe you look at a result and then come up with a narrative without looking what is actually happening.

So I'm just stating facts here.

Chargers had the ball 2 times in the 3rd Q

13 plays....  11 passes.     4:45.

You would consider that " ball stall or conservative.. 2 runs our of 13 plays?

Agreed, others first. If there is room I can pay Sanders a "decent" amount. As you said others will be available and if Sanders wants to stay the pressure is on his agent then. I would have NP taking Josh Jacobs

You can ball stall with 3 yard passes as well as running(cause we do it too). RB dump offs are considered "passes"

And you think Jacobs comes cheaper?   I am not talking to either...let some other team pay them.  We need other things.

I'll talk to him,First, it's Howies JOB to do it. See what he wants, feel them all out. ,Second, you have no clue how disgruntled anyone is. It got alot of players here, why not a RB?

Yep,I just value the RB spot a little more than you,so the only argument is the $$$$$

Ok...so here are the passes .... 13 plays.  2 runs.  2 incomplete passes to Eckler.    So 9 of the 13 plays were not to the RB.

1st drive they 3 completions for 41 yards.   2nd drive 2 completions for 46 yards.

6 incomplete passes....

13 plays only took 4:45 off the clock...with 6 of the plays, basically half, stopping the clock.

The absolute worst " conservative, clock chewing, ball stall " strategy ever!

Watching football for 5 decades... no way would I consider that a team looking to run out the clock passing 11 out of 13 times... only 2 of those to a RB.

Perhaps in those sequences, if a couple of those incomplete passes were zero yard runs....then there might have been less time left at the end.

It's completely opposite of what the Eagles have done with leads.  They take their time running plays and use clock.

Right,if you're going to stall you still need to move the chains(which the Eagles do as you pointed out). As I said 3 yard passes don't help. Incomplete passes don't help and I also said I am fine with ball stalling with RESULTS(even a FG as I said before). They got no results

You can take 40 off the clock with a play... 6 incomplete passes instead of runs..even if no gain... that's 4 minutes.

What was the score with 4 minutes left in the Chargers game?

GB...where were the 3 yard passes?

97 yards they got on 5 passes...that's almost 20 yards per pass.

They didn't not go conservative at all.  In no way would any of that being considered conservative.  They were the opposite...too pass happy and too aggressive.

IDK tired of going over this. The D quit and so did the O. Incomplete dink passes don't help,IN BOUNDS dink passes DO. Whatever, moving on....................You need results either way

You are calling plays..  you want to ball stall.  Just take time off the clock.   You have 13 plays...what are you looking to call.

I'm putting you in charge with simple instructions....just waste clock.  You would only call 2 runs?   And only 2 passes to RB?

Right...because they didn't do what you said. They did the opposite and it cost them when only scoring 3 points in less than 5 minutes....when they ran 13 plays.

That was not conservative or any strategy to kill the clock.  That was a dumb way to play aggressive with a lead because it backfired when they couldn't score.   They played right into Jax hands.

Totally opposite of what the Eagles have been doing all year.

If you call pass.. pass ...pass... old school Andy style...  then you force yourself to have to score because you don't take any time off.

If you mix in some runs or even a pass for no gain...then the clock moves...and you give your opponent less of a chance to come back from 20 plus points.

What changed was Lawrence stopped throwing INTs and giving them short field.

And their defense couldn't stop Jax.  While their offense was stupid trying to light up the scoreboard instead of just getting 10 yards at a time and shortening the game.

"Staley surely will be questioned for being too conservative, both on defense and offense — he opted for a field goal on fourth-and-3 midway through the fourth quarter that Cameron Dicker missed — and for not trying to run the ball more. LA had 23 rushing attempts for 69 yards, a 2.9-yard average, while Herbert threw 43 times."        OK whatever Joe,there are many things involved in being conservative. They gave up what they are good at(running the ball) Just "passing attempts" has nothing to do with how conservative you are. Conservative is going away from what you do

Ok...so he didn't go for it on 4th and 3.  But saying 11 passes out of 13 is being conservative in the 3rd Q is totally false.

Take the time clock would have worked.

It's easy to fail at moving the ball or scoring ...the opponent comes into play.  You control yourself how you can take time off the clock. LA failed on both...but the clock was 100% only on them.  Just dumb.

When you are way ahead... 3 things need to happen for you to lose.

1. You don't score anymore

2. You don't take enough time off the clock

3. You let them score too quickly.

You can eliminate the chances of losing simply by doing the second thing properly.   In fact it forces them to have score even faster.

2022 Eagles have 14 wins... 13 of them the opponent never had their offense on the field for a chance to tie or take the lead.    That's excellent game management.  If it continues Saturday,  that would be great.

Julio Jones slipping in the playoff game was exciting.  Tom Brady hail Mary was exciting.  But I like the 13 non exciting finishes we had this year.  Leave no doubt, avoid a possible lucky play.

Their lines are the biggest reason they have been dominant.

Brady fell into New England's lap.  It happens.

Dline dominates. Oline is ok.

Brady was a great draft choice. Giants dropped Bradberry late way after the fact.

Holding his arm ….because he needed an excuse for not catching the ball. Like when DBs miss a play they should DEFINITELY have made….all of the sudden they get a boo boo.

Plausible you’re right. But that underthrown ball really let the defender catch up. Defender landed on him pretty good with both going full speed though.
