My bad , that is a specific date for a Carr trade where $ kicks in.  Basically saying it's smart for Raiders to trade him by then.   Which I don't get, because Ham clearly states a team can just back out until March?  Confusing.  I would love to get explanation?

Technically it's not a contract until it's signed, but imagine an agent who keeps backing out on deals. I doubt they would last long

Colts and Commanders

I asked Ham and got no response(not unusual) so that would be 2 years in my book not 1

No but specifically the Raiders have this deadline...which I don't get.  If he can't be traded until next year?

Like wouldn't the Saints be able to just back out even if a trade was agreed upon before Feb 15th.   So I don't get the deadline?

IDK is the 15th the new league year starting point? Maybe a trade deal(without signing it yet) would help them cap wise? IDK that I have seen anything like this

https://saintswire.usatoday.com/2023/02/07/saints-raiders-derek-carr-trade-compensation-agreement/  Carr has to waive his no trade clause, perhaps that needs done prior to the start of the new league year? That is my best guess. If Feb 15th passes and he doesn't waive it then he can't be traded due to the no trade clause, that's all I got

In other words,if Feb 15th passes, the no trade clause would roll over into the new season and be in effect for the 2023 season,so I think that's what the deadline means

Right "next year" starts Feb 15th,even though chronologically it's the same calendar year,it's a NEW NFL year,so I believe to be traded,Carr has to void his no trade clause before the 15th

NFL year starts in March.  I don't think a no trade clause has anything to do with a date as Carr should be able to waive it anytime.    I believe Feb 15th has something to do with $$$

So Feb 15th is the date where Carr has a $40 mil injury guarantee kick in on his contract.   The article stated that its a month before the new league year.

So the idea is the Raiders can cut him before then... or agree to trade him.

But my point... because if you take what Ham said as Bible... and the trade cannot happen until March ...then why can't a team just back out of the trade that is agreed upon prior to Feb 15th... really end up screwing the Raiders.

I'd like to hear an explanation on this.  Because Ham is so 100% sure on this, I'm sure he would come up with the explanation of a trade needing to be done prior to Feb 15th even though it can't be done until March?

Like..I'm the Saints...I'll offer a trade prior to Feb 15th.. then when it's day 1 of new league year.... I'll say...nah... changed my mind, here is an offer for way less.

So if a trade is agreed upon by all parties prior to Feb 15...Raiders. Saints and Carr... does the $40 mil guaranteed fall on the Saints...even though Carr would be a Raider until March?

I feel there has to be something the NFL has in place where the deal is final... where no team can back out... just that the paperwork doesn't go through until March.

It just seems wrong that any party can back out if that deal is made.

I all but forgot that album and I liked Van Halen - version 1 - back in the day, I work out to ACDC tho - runs angry

Guys talking about Bears, Saints etc - blah, blah. Howabout dem Eagles! You guys know we have like 20 FA's and tag time is less than a month away. 1st off we have this game. The work is in and I for one believe we win by more than the 2 pts. At 9 pts we start running it down their throats like we have all season. After that I'll start focusing on next yr.

See Michael Irving got kicked out of AZ, drunk or something - always a nutcase since we took him out, although I'm a bit ashamed at how our fans reacted to it.

Buddy of mine is a big gambler and I was wearing some Eagles gear so he was asking advice. He had a great deal on a 9 pt Eagles win. Explained out of 22 spots we're better at 15, that's giving them C ( which is NOT my take ) and QB, he had to take in the "trick" crap Mahomes can do, if we're 9 pts ahead, we're just gonna run it down their throats.

If the defense can limit both the amount and damage from the plays that Mahomes goes off script.  I like our chances.

In contrary to some... if a play breaks down and a QB makes a great play.   I don't see that as taking advantage of a flaw or exposure of scheme.  That is simply an MVP making plays.

Their secondary can't cover our WR's, so buying Hurts time w/ our OL is primo. Cover Travis and their done. Mahomes in the backfield will take those crazy plays as our pass rush up the middle and our edge guys won't give him the time or space. Look at the dullass game. Reid will come up with stuff, so will we. I just don't see that close of a game as we own both lines, secondary and WR's.
