I think the idea is that every pick should be somewhat questioned. The reason being one guy can't fill multiple needs.   You have different people wanting different needs filled.

Some people look at positions... my comment a few days ago was that I realize we have so many needs on defense.   That I wouldn't be opposed o finishing the puzzle on offense with a top weapon added to the passing game.  With the main 3 locked up for a few years, drafting one now would lock in all 4.   With Hurts getting a new deal... that's very good foundation that can stay together and dominate.

We can outscore teams and win that way while the defense gets rebuilt.   I think for 2023 might be the best chance for immediate success.   But I also like the stability long term.

I can see that certainly. For me there isnt too much difference between Mayer and TE 2 and 3. But I don't get to see individual drills or workouts. Highlight vids are just that highlights. Anyway Mayer,Fournette and one of these scat backs would certainly be match up problems for every defense

I'm going for the trade that gets us a 1st next year.

yeah I said that I would probably go right to the 19 trade, but it takes 2

I love the scenario... Tampa trade at 19...that gets us a 1st rounder next year....  then we trade back up a few spots to get our target.

Then I would love to trade down a few spots from 30...and pick up another day 2 asset or more.

The other thing that I think gets missed.  With the comp picks and extra 2024 picks in general.  That allows us to make a trade or two from August to the deadline.  Would love to get another CGJ type player going on last year of rookie deal...then we have control of the next move if we want him long term.

Would be fun rooting against Tampa or another team again due to the pick...lol.  Already rooting for Saints pick to be high 2nd.

Really check out the mock I posted, you can see the trades I made(TB did not offer me one lol). You can see how I traded back the 30. Ended up getting 5 players in 3 rounds(not 4) and 3 extra picks later and a couple next year as well. I traded the 30 back with Seattle and got the 37 and 97 if I recall

https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/user-mock-drafts/2023/user-mock-1237877  You can see the 3 trade backs. You can choose different players than I took but got alot of picks out of the 3 I traded

Richardson was impressive,he could easily by QB1 now. So you have the him,Stroud,Young going top 5. Hooker said he will be ready to go by training camp so add him and Levis in there. So pick 10 becomes more valuable as far as QB needy teams go with the Richardson move up. So TB should really want our 10 pick unless they snag a big name QB in FA

My thing... I want to keep it simple like the last 2 drafts.    Get another 1st and move back up to get the target.   My fear is the 5000 trade backs simply to get extra picks.

We get the target 1st,and a couple other nice players this year I'm fine.   I don't want to water it down with the idea all these picks are going to fill holes.

I know at the moment everyone falls in love with these college kids... I'm always cautious in thinking they will translate to the NFL.

Desai needs to bring in some of his guys. He’s been coaching for awhile. Let him bring in any of his cheaper available options. See which players work. Then add to the D from there the next season and beyond. Could be a good year to maybe just clear out some cap room. Yes I know that’s just a dream of mine. Trade back and load up on future draft picks. Siri and Rosie aren’t under any threat of losing their jobs.

Just a question... how do we " clear out cap room"  now?

Im just curious ... I'm not against any theory here...I'm just curious of the how?

Who are you cutting to clear cap space?

We could trade Slay and cut Quez.

Obviously then resigning Sanders is out if we want to " clear cap"

Looking at our roster... I'm not seeing any " clear the cap" type contracts other than those 2.  It seems we have the younger guys we want to keep under contract.

We know we can't really sign too many players this offseason... so not sure we can do anything extra to " clear cap" the old guys are already not under contract.  Slay, Lane and Quez are the 3 guys we can manipulate the cap with.

Idk...this clear cap now is kinda baffling?  Just don't see who we need to clear?.  Of course we know we need to replace players and that will cost something...even if it's all rookies.

Welp, there are decent enough backs in round 4,so get me one of those picks and I'm happy

All you need to do is not spend any big money. Rosie it’s all about backloading every deal.  So it’s all about freeing up the future cap. Maybe not have to backload Hurts contract so heavily.

I think we all know we are going back to the rebuild we started before the "all in" chance arose

We have BIG money somewhere?? Did I miss something?

IDK bro,I traded back 3 times and it worked to my advantage pretty well. Once the draft starts and round 1 is over trading isnt that complicated. I'm for whatever gets us the best players

Yeah I didn't know we had big money to spend

Let Howie do his job maybe?

CJG and Hargrave would be my top 2 re-signs,not alot left after that really. maybe Scott stays. Pascal goes,Quez too, find a cheap slot WR or draft 1. I doubt we're SB bound next year because there is no money to go "all in" again

How can we spend " big money" now?

There is the thought of trading Lane. I can’t see him playing more than three more seasons. Not sure he’ll be dominant that long even. His trade value is at a peak for a 33 year old player.

Where did trading away a first round pick fit in your thoughts here? Rebuild? All in?

You absolutely have to backload Hurts contract... why do you think we were able to get out of the Wentz deal so easily... same with Demarco Murray and that CB ( I forget his name) after 1 year

The backload gives it to the other team to have to pay.    With Hurts, it allows for same out or if he performs we can redo the deal in 2 years.

So ... we are already in position to where we are going to have to go young.  There is no money to give away.   How did we go from "let's keep as much of the 2022 roster together" to " let's clear cap space " ?

That's polar opposite.   It's why I'm looking to sign CGJ and let the rest walk.

You would think it's obvious?  We are letting our own old guys walk...not sure how anyone could think all of a sudden we are going to spend big elsewhere???

I’m thinking how he could do it differently. Open up an extended contending window. But I could say the same to you. Instead of mock drafting. Instead of considering the draft class. Just let Rosie do his job. But to me that goes against exactly what this place is for.

I just want to avoid 2010... winning the draft trade " values" ...but having a crappy draft.   I like the last 2 drafts.   Trade back to get another 1st and then trade up for the target.  Hit on the next couple of picks and we are fine.

Forget this idea of filling all the holes...needing this in mid round etc.  That was mindset I think that caused too many bad drafts in a row.
